biodork Posted December 15, 2012 Report Posted December 15, 2012 Congrats CSB, and good luck, SFiNS! And echoing Drane, I'm actually pleasantly surprised how many of us are still here at least semi-regularly during the lockout. Great group of folks on this board. Quote

Eleven Posted December 15, 2012 Report Posted December 15, 2012 So awesomely fantastic it gets 2 posts. I own no land in Ohio. Good. No one should own land in Ohio. There should be no Ohio. It should just go from that crappy little piece of Pennsylvania directly into Indiana or Michigan. Quote

If I were an Ohioan I don't know that I'd want to be considered an Indianan or a Michiganer. :P Quote

(For our friends in Canada and Europe, that's roughly 245 kilowatt hours per decilitre.) Edited December 15, 2012 by Eleven Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 15, 2012 Report Posted December 15, 2012 Thanks guys and gals. This place is awesome a vast, vast majority of the time. We may disagree on many things and argue at times, like any family, but good people abound. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 This is some combination of disturbing, awesome, and hilarious. Slows down all of Nicki Minaj's songs, and she ends up sounding like Jay-Z. Quote
frissonic Posted December 17, 2012 Report Posted December 17, 2012 Sadly, I found out the day after that a whole bunch of Sabres tweeters were coming down for the show. Would have liked to have met up with them! As it was, met some amazing Canadian Hip fans. I swear, there is no friendlier bunch in the world. Quote

Weave Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Job offers. Recieved a very enticing job offer yesterday. It isn't ideally what I'd like to be doing, but it is with a good compnay at a very competitive rate of pay. I have notified the other companies that I am interested in of the offer. I have until close-of-business Wednesday to make a decision. We'll see if I get any other bites now. Feels good to have the monkey of my back. Quote

Weave Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks all. That is great news. A happier Christmas for the weaves. By the way, how are things going with your exchange student? Sorry, if I have missed some updates. Not nearly as well as hoped. I am more convinced than ever that he has social development issues. He is not doing very well in schol either. He's not an undo headache for us, but it isn't the happy, exciting experience we'd hoped for. I feel bad for the kid. I assume his parents forced him here. He'd be better off at home but his parents want him to finish the school year. Chinese culture is based heavily on the concept of shame. It would shame him and the family if he went home. Neither him, nor the family want to admit that he isn't cut out for this and should come home. Quote

I think it's a wonderful thing that you and your family are doing, so hopefully there will be a next time and that it goes better for all. Maybe a kid from Europe, or some place other than China, would work better? Quote

Some people love being thrown into something completely different, some people want to do the same thing every day of their lives. Quote
