MattPie Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) I thought there was no FiOS downtown. That's what I was thinking. Maybe your office is benefitting from them making their provider upgrade the block. Commercial ISPs have a lot more options than residential. You can essentially have as much bandwidth as you want to pay for. If it's not FIOS per se, Verizon Commerical Services will do a more traditional connection with the right bandwidth. Cable will too, for that matter. For instance, TWC has a 300/20 package. Yes, if you wanted you could probably get that at your house but it's not cheap. https://business.timewarnercable.com/services/internet/business-internet/overview.html Verizon advertises 1Mbps to 10GigE service (10,000 Mbps). http://www.verizonenterprise.com/products/networking/dedicated-internet-services/ Edited April 25, 2016 by MattPie Quote
SwampD Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Are you saying Paul Cambria and 11 are alter egos? Angry 11 makes so much more sense now. Maybe not, what do I know? I'm just a suburban dweller. But I honestly don't know of a non-college ISP in the area that can sniff those upload speeds. In North Jersey it's pretty common. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Would you kindly stop saying "sniff those upload speeds"? No. Maybe if you had asked less nicely. If it's not FIOS per se, Verizon Commerical Services will do a more traditional connection with the right bandwidth. Cable will too, for that matter. Ah, that makes sense. In North Jersey it's pretty common. Not surprised. Home ISP choice in and around Buffalo is horrible. For example, my only alternative to Time Warner is Verizon DSL at 3 Mbps. Quote
darksabre Posted April 27, 2016 Report Posted April 27, 2016 At some point this summer the new USS Little Rock is going to be commissioned in Buffalo alongside the old USS Little Rock. It will be a week long event and will include public tours of the NEW Little Rock. How cool is that? The commissioning board has its own Facebook page so follow along for updates. https://www.facebook.com/USS-Little-Rock-LCS-9-957333414302696http://usslittlerocklcs9.org/ Quote

darksabre Posted April 27, 2016 Report Posted April 27, 2016 You already have events planned for spring of 2017? They've already got the thing built and in the water. I don't expect it will take until next year for them to get it commissioned. I could see them doing this in late summer. Quote

Stoner Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 it, I can't keep the secret anymore. IKP's avatar is the Little Rock, at sea. I love that. Quote
Stoner Posted May 7, 2016 Report Posted May 7, 2016 Watched a mother Canadian goose and her four goslings (gaustads?) today. She was leading them around the water, then guided them to shore, where they fed on thin, tender grass. Mom had a few bites too. The kids would clamber up on some small rocks, and when they got a little too far afield, she groaned and they froze and locked eyes with her. She would then take them back out for a swim. They kept repeating the cycle. So fun to watch. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 I used to really like Woody Allen. His movies resonated with me. But then I learned about how much of a disgusting human being he is and I can never look at a movie like Manhattan the same way again. I don't trust this man who sexually assaulted his daughter and married his other daughter with depicting women in his films. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/my-father-woody-allen-danger-892572?utm_source=twitter Here's an excellent article by his son, Ronan. It's about the pain his sister has to go through every single time stars line up to work with their father. It's also about how incredibly unfair media coverage is when it comes to a powerful man being accused by a woman. He also makes a clear point about the dangers of silence in main stream media. I was a Woody Allen fan for years before I heard anything bad about the man. Quote
