87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Let's quit the high and mighty routine for once, OK? You insinuated it, and that's just as bad. You're no different than the guy prasing TT because he thinks that Obama is this communist devil and will destroy this country with his (nonexistent) tax hikes on the uber-wealthy. Two polar opposites of the dumbest theatrical event in the history of mankind. For you to sit here and say that I insinuated just goes to show that your comprehension skills are lacking. You read what you wanted to read and came to you own conclusion because you have no facts to back you point. I did not insinuate anything. If I had something to say I would say it. I have no need for word games. Wow, tax talk original. Yet I see no credible links to support any change or lack thereof in taxation.
TheChimp Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 No that they are opposed to one another, I believe there are some big clear differences......love your avatar btw.... Yeah? Thanks!! :D
SwampD Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Perspective is a funny thing. If we are talking fiscal policy the last true conservative President was named Kennedy. You missed my point. Nope, just stating that it wasn't just the whim of the EC and then stating why he has earned my respect. People forget that we were really on the brink back then, not like this manufactured brink now to gain votes. The president doesn't make law. He's job is to be that parent that remains calm when the kid scrapes his knee and doesn't know whether or not to scream, then he looks up and sees that it's no big deal. That was Bush on the rubble pile. At that moment, he was a great president. What he did with that good will I feel was reprehensible, but at that moment, he was great. Obama had to then stand on that financial rubble pile and tell us it would be okay. Whatever you think about the bailouts, they worked, and what he fights for I believe in. Nobody is going to tell me that universal health care is a bad thing. How they make it happen is for them to fight it out, but at it's core, it's a good idea. Like I said before, it's better now than it was when he took office, thus my respect.
Weave Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 wow id say censoring the word ne gro is taking political correctness WAAAAY too far ne gro isnt and shouldnt be offensive to anybody at this point sheesh That hurt my head to try and read.

Let's not stray from your main point, that even if Adolf Hitler invited you to dinner, as a good German, you'd have jumped at the chance.
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Is Thomas disrespecting the president or the politics he represents? IMO it is the latter. And there is our disconnect. I think the differences are small and less than meaningful. agree to disagree. I just feel as though an invite from the President to CONGRATULATE you and your team's performance is something that should be welcomed with open arms. Political views should be kept aside.

Meathead Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 not surprising, for most people it comes down to party affiliation but the pure independent logic of the situation pretty much shows it for what it is the wingnut right had no problem with a president killing millions over lies. he wasnt just bad he was disgusting. not a peep out of that crowd when he was creating this whole mess. obama has been poor but he also took over the rubble of arguably the biggest disaster of a president ever. i didnt vote for him, probably not gonna again, but the choice of who to make a stand with is beyond comical. its kinda sick i gotta be honest, it really appears like the staunch conservatives in this country have gone insane. i have views on both sides so i have lifelong friends from both parties and i still have very conservative friends who i love and tell to their face i think some of the stuff they believe coming out of their party and then their mouths is crazy. truth be told a ton of former 'conservatives' i know have dropped their support of the party. most of them are voting for obama now, which is interesting since im writing in john huntsman. but the overwhelming common theme when i ask them why is that the gop candidates are a cartoon circus act of freaks cant say i disagree. except for huntsman. the sane conservative
LaFontaineToMogilny Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Personally, I don't care whether Thomas is conservative, liberal, Republican, Democrat. I'd say the same either way. As far as I am concerned they are all equivalents. And while I doubt I would do the same thing he did given the chance, I support what he did and the reasons posted on his twitter account for doing it. Now, if his tweet is garbage meant to insulate himself, well, that's on him. But I fully support the POV on his tweet and can sympathize with anyone who has that thought in mind when they decide to stay home. I don't care what Tim Thomas does either, he has a right to not go to a dinner party. I think it makes him a tool and it comes off as him being a whiny little kid who can't handle that his guy didn't win. His Facebook post only makes him seem like more of an idiot in my eyes, it's so transparent and hollow that I would get a nice chuckle out of it if I had any skin in the game.
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 wow id say censoring the word ne gro is taking political correctness WAAAAY too far ne gro isnt and shouldnt be offensive to anybody at this point sheesh But it is and I would prefer you did not use it. Secondly who do you think you are to be telling people what should and shouldn't offend them
2ForTripping Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 because if they had won while a staunch conservative was in office, and someone on the team refused to attend "for political beliefs," that would be asanine too. right? right .....? indeed ute. put politics aside and let it sink in..... you were invited to meet the President..... thats pretty damn cool .
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Let's not stray from your main point, that even if Adolf Hitler invited you to dinner, as a good German, you'd have jumped at the chance. So you're comparing Obama to Adolf Hitler? The face of genocide. Intelligent.
Meathead Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 ne gro ne gro ne gro omg the world is coming to an end lmao @ whomever maintains the censor list here. cmon man thats absurd
Weave Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 agree to disagree. I just feel as though an invite from the President to CONGRATULATE you and your team's performance is something that should be welcomed with open arms. Political views should be kept aside. And if it were me in his shoes, regardless of the President, I probably would accept too. But I also support any individual that won't accept the invitation because he wants to send a politcal message. Protest is good and healthy. Heck, this one doesn't even require anybody get pepper sprayed and no parks need to be sanitized. And believe it or not, sending teams to meet the President for photo ops and press releases are most definitely political events. Don't kid yourself.
TheChimp Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 So you're comparing Obama to Adolf Hitler? The face of genocide. Intelligent. No, that is not what I'm doing. I am pointing out that your main point was that, because Obama is the leader of the country, Tim Thomas should have put aside his obvious hatred of him and his actions as Tim saw them and just suck it up and go anyway. But I knew you'd say that. Know how I knew?
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 ne gro ne gro ne gro omg the world is coming to an end lmao @ whomever maintains the censor list here. cmon man thats absurd You're an idiot. Plain and simple. I asked you not to use that word and you went ahead and used it to seem as though you're some tough guy. Your name explains it all though. You need to grow up.
Randall Flagg Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 not surprising, for most people it comes down to party affiliation but the pure independent logic of the situation pretty much shows it for what it is the wingnut right had no problem with a president killing millions over lies. he wasnt just bad he was disgusting. not a peep out of that crowd when he was creating this whole mess. obama has been poor but he also took over the rubble of arguably the biggest disaster of a president ever. i didnt vote for him, probably not gonna again, but the choice of who to make a stand with is beyond comical. its kinda sick i gotta be honest, it really appears like the staunch conservatives in this country have gone insane. i have views on both sides so i have lifelong friends from both parties and i still have very conservative friends who i love and tell to their face i think some of the stuff they believe coming out of their party and then their mouths is crazy. truth be told a ton of former 'conservatives' i know have dropped their support of the party. most of them are voting for obama now, which is interesting since im writing in john huntsman. but the overwhelming common theme when i ask them why is that the gop candidates are a cartoon circus act of freaks cant say i disagree. except for huntsman. the sane conservative This doesn't really sound independently viewing something...
2ForTripping Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Don't worry, I am very relaxed, my only concern is making sure there are enough informed voters out there to make sure Obama does not get re-elected. And I don't have a far right buddy Crosschecking, for that matter. I can offer opinions on my own. ANd frankly Inkman, the position you are taking about which "old white guy" pays the lowest tax rate is the least of our country's problems, considering the overwhelming percentage of overall tax revenues the "top 1% (...as the left conveniently likes to trot out) pays is overwhelmingly disproportionate. Considering how bad our Sabres suck these days, I thought I'd post a topic which combined hockey & politics .... not literal buddy, as in of the same ilk. relax my friend , slide on over to your north fulton publix and get a 12 pack.

I asked you not to use that word and you went ahead and used it to seem as though you're some tough guy. Your name explains it all though. You need to grow up. Wait a minute, the word ###### bothers you so much that you asked somebody not to use it? Seriously? EDIT: Anglo. Hmm, nope, not censored. Just checking.

Right? ;) Adolf Hitler was a monster and his name should never be used in the same sentence with the POTUS
Randall Flagg Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 From now on on this website I am not going to see avatars next to names, I'm going to see an elephant or a donkey...:(
Weave Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 So you're comparing Obama to Adolf Hitler? The face of genocide. Intelligent. No he's comparing the office or the President of the United States to the office of the Chancellor of Germany. And noone called Godwin yet?
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Wait a minute, the word ###### bothers you so much that you asked somebody not to use it? Seriously? uhhh yea. It derogitory. I really dont feel the need to explain myself. To you or anyone else. I asked him not to use that was. The fact that it's censored just means I'm not the only one who feels this way. Here's my question. Why is that word even being used. Race if a moot point. This is regarding an article about TT. No he's comparing the office or the President of the United States to the office of the Chancellor of Germany. And noone called Godwin yet? Then he should have said that and left names out of it.
TheChimp Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Wait, But Thomas said himself that has nothing to do with polical views. Right? ;) Adolf Hitler was a monster and his name should never be used in the same sentence with the POTUS Both Adolf Hitler and Barack Obama were leaders of their nations. And if you read what Thomas wrote about his decision not to go, it was as littered with political views as your posts are.
87168 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Both Adolf Hitler and Barack Obama were leaders of their nations. And if you read what Thomas wrote about his decision not to go, it was as littered with political views as your posts are. Adolf Hitler believed in ethnic cleansing. genocide. It is not right to compare the two regardless of title.
