TheFunPolice Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Overall, I LOVE Terry Pegula's commitment and passion. HOWEVER, I think we are seeing the downside to being a really, really, nice guy. This is the biggest problem with Pegula IMO. There was a great deal of talk last year about how wonderful he is to work for (which is great) and how much working for him is like being a part of a family. The problem is that you don't fire family. You rally around family and protect them from critics on the outside. I think there is a lot of this going on with Pegula. He views the team and its players not as a business with employees but a family with many members. This means he must (and will) defend them against their critics and see them in the best light. Thus the hympty dumpty comment. The problem is (as he ought to know): all the king's horses and all the king's men, couldn't put humpty dumpty together again!
darksabre Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 You ever seen a grown man naked before?
Meathead Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 im afraid thats exactly what has happened.which is why for the first time since hes been here im calling for one or both of lindy and darcy to get fired. i like both guys, i think lindy goes someplace else and wins a cup. but their time here has passed professional sports is a brutal cut throat business. sure you can try to cultivate a family atmosphere but in the final analysis it really is anything but family. your 'love' has to be extremely conditional - you win and youre family, you lose and youre just another street bum trying to take my house away from me and my family lindy/darcy have become too close with their children. they been on a jillion picnics together, seen each others real kids grow up, gone to weddings and funerals. thats not the kind of environment that generates the harsh accountability of sports entertainment time to fire some managers, terry. it sucks but this is the stale product you will have until you bring in the next guy who doesnt know these people and will hold their ###### to the fire terry didnt get to where he is by being clueless for too long. should be only a matter of days now. to whomever is fired, goodbye and goodluck. its been mostly great while you were here, but your time has come and went
itbeatswalking Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I've been saying the same thing for 3 months now. After he came out and talked smack about the goaltending in Pittsburgh after the 8-3 loss, I was like "wow, that was our first loss by a huge deficit and he came right out and let the players know he wasnt happy". Then I wake up the next day to hear that apologized to them and said he shouldn't of said what he did. From then on, he has been nothing but a fan just watching. I assure you, if he really was a fan, he'd of seen how many times lindy won the cup in 14 YEARS. And seen what regier F'd up with briere and drury. They'd of both been gone day 1 of the last offseason if I was in charge.
neverenough Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 People should have been fired long ago. Im so fed up with people sayin Terry Pegula didnt get to where he is now from being a turtle blah blah blah. That was oil and this is hockey, He hasnt done crap to help this sinking ship.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 ...in before the merge. ... me too. This isn't the mafia ... "family" could / should be fired.
spndnchz Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Maybe I just merge every thread into one?

Lumpy Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I feel as if I have rubbernecked at this car accident long enough. As I think about how much these boys earn to play a kid's game, and how little passion and joy they bring to it, I now need to run away and focus on other things to do. The Buffalo Sabres were always a welcome distraction in my life, but now this is aggravation, pure and simple. A bumbling owner, a pasisonateless group of players, a lost coach and general manager - it feels like so many other avoidable failures. They are all getting rich from us, though I suspect when fans start to flee, the owner is going to feel some pocket book pain from his fumbling. No one has so much money that this won't start to hurt at some point.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 sigh...once again, Terry Pegula didn't make his billions by running his company into the ground because he was afraid to do the right thing for his company.
DumbPuck Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Maybe I just merge every thread into one? Stealing my ideas, Chz! As I said ... no more message board, one big shoutbox. It's all we really need anymore.
OverPowerYou Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Maybe I just merge every thread into one? Actually I hate coming onto these forums and never seeing new Topics. Instead I see 5 of the same ones that are all 8-10 pages long.
mercury Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Actually I hate coming onto these forums and never seeing new Topics. The final five words in that sentence were unnecessary.

darksabre Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Actually I hate coming onto these forums and never seeing new Topics. Instead I see 5 of the same ones that are all 8-10 pages long. There are no new topics. There is nothing new to talk about. Just like the Sabres.
shrader Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 There are no new topics. There is nothing new to talk about. Just like the Sabres. There is no Dana, only Zuul.
Robviously Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 There is no Dana, only Zuul.    Spectacular reference.
darksabre Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 There is no Dana, only Zuul. Maybe the Sabres could hire the Ghostbusters to circle the FNC on game night.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 There is no Dana, only Zuul. I am Vince. Vince Clortho, Keymaster of Gozer, Volguus Zildrohar, Lord of the Sebouillia. Are you the Gatekeeper?
DaFan Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 ... a very disfunctional family at that.... as for sticking up for each other... the only one doing that these days seems to be Pegula.. UGH!!
Bmwolf21 Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 What about the twinkie? Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.
