Bump. Good Friday tomorrow. Biggest Fish Fry night of the year. Where are you getting yours?

Home. Fresh lake perch dredged on corn meal, fried until golden brown and delicious, and served with cole slaw and French fries.

thank you.

Weave, what you describe sounds delicious, and is certainly fish cooked via frying, but it is not a fish fry.

Yeah. You are right. Perch > Haddock all day, every day.

Posted

Fact.

turkey>chicken all day every day too but you still can't make wings out of thanksgiving leftovers.

Unless it is smoked, chicken > turkey all day every day.

What were you doing in Tulsa?

The bf moved to OKC in December, and last Fri. I few out to Tulsa so we could check out a different town. Would not have expected a Caribbean restaurant with fish flown in daily from Key West, FL in that part of the country.

It's a great city for eating out, actually. IMO, better than OKC by a long shot.

Good to know. We've found a couple good places in OKC so far:

Empire Slice House

The Mule

Tamazul

OKC Museum of Art - Museum Cafe (brunch is awesome)

Incorrect.

Unless it is smoked, chicken > turkey all day every day.

Correct, except for Thanksgiving.

Well no, you'd fry the wings separately.

Hmmmm.... turkey wings. Must try.

Smoked turkey > smoked chicken

But seriously, where am I getting a fish fry tomorrow?

The Place Lexington Ave near Elmwood in Buffalo in WNY.

I just had the Parmesan Encrusted Grouper at the Salt Rock Grill in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida with a Pint of Guiness to wash it down.

Donnelly's in Fairport has a good one.

Excellent.

I've heard good things about the Elmwood Inn as well.

I wish I still lived in Buffalo so I could just walk out my front door and be handed a fish fry.

Canandaigua is like this as well.

Captain Kidd's in Redondo Beach is the ######. You can order a variety of dinners at the kitchen counter or you can go over the the fresh/live case and pick out which cuts/animals you want them to cook up any way you like. Pay the fresh price by the pound, with a meager fee (<$5) for cooking and big helpings of sides. Decent beer on tap as well. Fish comes in fresh daily, and among all of the restaurants in the neighborhood (many seafood places), they get first pick, even over fancy-pants seafood restaurants. Best seafood -specifically cooked fish- in this half of Los Angeles.

That's useless to you, Dark, so here's a repost of the Fish Fry Map: http://archive.wgrz.com/news/databases/fishfry/

My wife worked at the Elmwood when she was at U of R way back when. Highly recommended.

Smoked turkey > smoked chicken

Yes. Smoking is the exception to the chicken > turkey rule.

Not really. Turkey always > Chicken, but smoking them just makes it moreso. Turkey just has more flavor.
