LGR4GM Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 (edited) Looks like not these anymore ... http://money.cnn.com....html?hpt=hp_t1 I can honestly say that I never ever tried one. I wonder if our own *wonderbread* will change his member name? shrader Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 I was at the store picking up stuff to make tacos the other day and I found these habanero tortillas. Amazing, added a nice consistent spice through every bite. Quote

Weave Posted November 25, 2012 Author Report Posted November 25, 2012 Thanksgiving part deaux Made a casserole out of leftovers. Heated up a cast iron frying pan over medium heat. Put a layer of stuffing on the bottom and let it cook until the bottom got brown and crispy. Added a layer of turkey mixed together with the leftover gravy. Topped that layer with the chipotle rubbed cubed squash, and topped that off with mashed potatoes, sheppard's pie-style. biodork Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 First brunch in a while: an apricot mimosa to start off, then a huge goat cheese omelet with mushrooms and bechemel sauce. Mmm. Quote
Eleven Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 I'm learning firsthand right now that pistachios need to be toasted at a VERY low temp... First batch nearly smoked me out of the house! Quote
dEnnis the Menace Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 My sister and I officially finished off the leftovers last night before she left to go back to school, so I'll be having a Wegman's meatball sub or Chili for lunch today. Could really go for another open faced-turkey/gravy sandwich with potatoes though. :( Quote
biodork Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Brugal Extra Viejo rum (a souvenir from the Dominican), neat. Smooth and tasty stuff. Quote
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Never really liked Subway. This one is about a 5 minute walk from where we live. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/story/2012/12/03/ns-bedford-subway-knife.html Quote

Eleven Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Maybe the US needs to build a wall to keep that violence from spreading down here. :) Or we could just ban Subway. It's a win-win. Subway's "cold cuts" don't resemble real food. It's like Arby's, but colder. Quote

It's like Arby's, but colder. 12 inch 9 grain wheat with turkey, provolone, Swiss, cucumbers, black olives, spinach and southwest sauce! After that health fest I think I'll have a nice cold molson. biodork Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 The final pieces of a failed attempt at peanut butter fudge from last week that was too ugly to share (as was intended). I don't think I ever want to eat PB fudge again. Quote

I am so ith you on this..I am truly scared to eat a Subway as I really fear what is in their meat like products and how it was processed. Quote
darksabre Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Waffles. Made the way dad used to make em. My parents got a GE waffle maker for their wedding in 1981 and used it for years. I swear it made the best waffles. Turns out Black and Decker makes a version of it but it doesn't seem to have the same build quality based on reviews. So I went ahead and bought the genuine article on eBay, for less money. http://r.ebay.com/ns2oPW Made a triple batch of waffles this morning and it was flawless. Waffles, just like dad used to make. Stoner Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 I made a carrot cake. Sucker with frosting has 10k calories. 10k! Jerry Seinfeld was wrong: you do make carrots into a cake. Love it, but it causes almost immediate unconsciousness. Quote

Love it, but it causes almost immediate unconsciousness. Jo made me a carrot cake for my last birthday. It was the best I've ever had. Carrot cake is so underrated as a desert. Tonight I'm making my favorite beef stew. One of the features is the cooking of the meat in 2 cups of strong coffee for about an hour and a half. I decided to try a more fancy coffee tonight and selected Peets' French roast. Let me tell you, just the coffee and meat in the pan smelled phenomenal, which is not the norm with plain old Folgers. I think I'm in for a treat tonight. Quote

darksabre Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 Sounds intriguing... I've heard of beef stew with beer or red wine, but never coffee! I don't know if the coffee is what does it, but the meat comes out so tender that it is unreal. I think I've linked to it here before but if I haven't, I'll put the recipe up later. Quote

Still, odd to imagine java-flavored beef stew. Got me wanting to get out the slow cooker! Quote
