I'm not trying to be mean, but if this is what you've always thought, then you haven't been watching since 2005, because by the season directly after their ECF loss to Carolina, they've worked less and less every year.

In fact, I'll go even further and say that Lindy's teams were lazy as heck before that too. In fact, I can only remember 2005-2006 where they had any form of consistency in putting in hard work on the ice.

 

The year they won the Presidents Trophy, they did so by playing 30 minutes a night, but scoring 5-6 goals in those 30 minutes. By the time the playoffs started though, they had become so lazy they had trouble beating a most average Rangers squad, and were eventually manhandled by a much hungrier Senators team.

Maybe you were one of the people I was talking about this with, back then, too. I mean, this was an old story for me and my ilk by 2008. Now it's just ridiculous. What's utterly maddening, though, is how many people STILL don't see it. I get so angry at that sometimes.
