carpandean Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 At least last night I could switch away to Modern Family at 9PM. My option tonight is the Office and that show has fallen as flat as the Sabres have. Penguins-Rangers is on the NHL Network, which is in free preview for (I believe) all of January.
shrader Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Even though Carrell is a big loss, Dwight and Co. still have their funny moments. The only part of the show I really hate is Gabe. His character SUCKS! What better place to discuss a sitcom than in a GDT. :D I absolutely hate Gabe. The main thing that has bugged me this year and last is that Andy should not be a main character. He was far better when he was just like everyone else, off ot the side. Now he's shoved down our throats and he sings way too much. There is one character who has stayed consistently awesome, Creed. Then again, he's so minor that it's nearly impossible to screw him up.

ROCBuffalo Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I don't know whats going on but this team has no heart. There is zero chemistry this year and it is hard to watch.
darksabre Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Nice. Unfortunately I think this is more appropriate - "Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms."
Eleven Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Good Heavens-- Are you still trying to win?
TrueBlueGED Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Penguins-Rangers is on the NHL Network, which is in free preview for (I believe) all of January. I generally enjoy watching other, good hockey teams play. But at the same time, something about the Rangers really infuriates me. They were worse than us last year (and the several years before that), lost to the perennial playoff chokers the Capitals in 5 games in which they were totally out-classed, they get Richards because he loves Tortorella and wanted to live in NYC, they looked pathetic for 10 or so games, and now they're the top team in the entire league? GAH! I even look at their roster and don't see more overall talent than we have, I just see pieces which fit better together and actually play as a team that would kill for each other. I don't see Tortorella as a better Xs and Os guy than Ruff, he just has a different system and got his players to buy in. Yea, I'm jealous and bitter at 10:30 in the morning!! Rant over.

I agree with most of what you're saying. If Torts and the core of the rangers were into their 14th or 15th year together I'm sure they would suck too. Torts is probably harder to take than Lindy after that time period.lol
apuszczalowski Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Even though Carrell is a big loss, Dwight and Co. still have their funny moments. The only part of the show I really hate is Gabe. His character SUCKS! What better place to discuss a sitcom than in a GDT. :D Few and far between, kind of like decent episodes of the Simpsons (Each year the amount of watchable episodes go down exponentially) and watchable Sabres games
deluca67 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 8 games under .500 and a -26 goal diferential. Regier needs to walk into the dressing room and say "Every scout in the NHL is out there tonight, with contracts in their pockets, and they're looking for talent. For winners. OOOOOOOOOH. All my years of publicity. All the fashion shows and radiothons for nothing... They come here tonight... to scout the Sabres... the toughest team in the Federal League! Not this! Buncha... pussies."
DumbPuck Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Good Heavens-- Are you still trying to win? Eleven! Is it safe for me to start being concerned about this team yet? ;-)
shrader Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I'm kind of hoping they get smoked again tonight. Three brutal ass kickings in a row and some sort of change would have to be made, right?
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I'm kind of hoping they get smoked again tonight. Three brutal ass kickings in a row and some sort of change would have to be made, right? We could only hope :( :(
Eleven Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Eleven! Is it safe for me to start being concerned about this team yet? ;-) Absolutely. I've been concerned for quite a while. Please don't confuse the fact that I don't agree with some of the proposed solutions (I still think changing the coach is tantamount to changing nothing and causes more harm than good) with a lack of concern!
... Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I'm kind of hoping they get smoked again tonight. Three brutal ass kickings in a row and some sort of change would have to be made, right? Ugh. I hate to agree with this. We would have to think that by now it's abundantly clear to management that they need to do something - regardless of whether they win or lose tonight. Even if they somehow eek into the playoffs, they must know this team has serious issues that they simply can not ignore for the, what, fourth season straight. With that in mind, I'd rather a win or two so the players who need to go return as much value as possible for the Sabres. But I fear that, in light of the fact that NOTHING has been done so far, that another brutal ass kicking may be warranted just to drive home the point to TPegs.
Oakstream Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Jets are also slumping. While I expected this team to get crushed by Wings and Blackhawks, I am mindly optimistic that this game we won't get crushed.

I know you're looking long term, but it's hard to ignore my immediate short term desire for this team. I want a return to watchability.
Eleven Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I'm kind of hoping they get smoked again tonight. Three brutal ass kickings in a row and some sort of change would have to be made, right? Isn't it already three? I didn't see Saturday's game, but I'd have to think that any loss to the Islanders qualifies as a brutal ass-kicking.
shrader Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Isn't it already three? I didn't see Saturday's game, but I'd have to think that any loss to the Islanders qualifies as a brutal ass-kicking. Losing to the Islanders is routine to this team in recent years though.

If Stafford and Roy had back to back to back multiple point games, and looked impressive doing it...now that would help!
... Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Wins won't raise a players value. If Stafford and Roy had back to back to back multiple point games, and looked impressive doing it...now that would help! That was the implication. Sorry I didn't point that out explicitly.

Please don't confuse the fact that I don't agree with some of the proposed solutions (I still think changing the coach is tantamount to changing nothing and causes more harm than good) with a lack of concern! What harm would be caused by removing Ruff? I know fans like Ruff and he is a former player, it's time to realize Ruff is far from being an elite coach. He banked some early success on the back of Hasek, added to the two years of No-Touch NHL. The rest is pretty poor.
bleedblueandgold Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 gotta start lookin at the draft position here soon......what do the prospects look like?
