TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Remember Vanek levelling Kaleta in practice? What ever happened to that edge? I was hopeful that it meant a new, more physical Vanek. I really think he assumed he would be named captain, and was ready to do what he had to do in terms of toughness. I just wish he would hit people and throw his weight around a little, because he is plenty big enough. http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/tso/comments/kaleta_recovering_from_vanek_hit_at_practice/
drnkirishone Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Vanek has given some solid hits this season..... Mostly they are when players try and run him thou.
TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 Vanek has given some solid hits this season..... Mostly they are when players try and run him thou. true.... I really want to see him drop the gloves with someone has he ever fought in his entire career? I know he will never be a "fighter" but that might spark something
fan2456 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Can't imagine it ever happening. That just isn't his game despite his size. He'll take a beating to score, but he rarely if ever initiates contact. Unfortunately, we have very few on this team who will initiate contact.
spndnchz Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Yeah it would be a good idea for Vanek to break his hand on someone's helmet. Genius
TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 Yeah it would be a good idea for Vanek to break his hand on someone's helmet. Genius How often does that really happen? I mean, it could, but Vanek is a tough guy Besides, it would be someone's face, not their helmet! :)
Two or less Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Yeah it would be a good idea for Vanek to break his hand on someone's helmet. Genius Yeah. Theres a hundred things to cry about with this team, but Vanek's lack of hitting is not one of them. Obviously, the original poster has never played any kind of hockey before, not even beer league. When you hit people, it doesn't matter what your name is, Patrick Kaleta, Alex Ovechkin, or Thomas Vanek, it just makes you open game to be a target as well. Once Vanek nails someone through the glass like Kaleta did tonight, Vanek would be a target each shift. I wonder how effective he'd be with that.... ?

Considering the beating he's already taking every night, he'd probably die.
darksabre Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Thread closed. No new threads. Now you're getting it! One foot in front of the otherrrrrrrr!
neverenough Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Now you're getting it! One foot in front of the otherrrrrrrr! Now all he has to do is piss on pegula's lawn while wearing his Trent Edwards jersey.
RazielSabre Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Yeah it would be a good idea for Vanek to break his hand on someone's helmet. Genius
shrader Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Yeah it would be a good idea for Vanek to break his hand on someone's helmet. Genius I'd be far more worried about him breaking his face.
bcsaberks Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 When this happened I thought it was interesting. Isn't it unusual for a player to blast a teammate in practice? Especially skill/score guy vs energy/physical guy. Was Vanek so motivated to prove Lindy "stronger handshake please Thomas" wrong with respect to his defensive ability/desire? (and yeah maybe earn the C as a result) Obviously Vanek doesn't need to earn a spot on the roster by giving an "f u" check in practice/tryouts like an AHL guy might. Boyes post game after Detroit loss in ref to Det "they are a team, you can see it,..." Such a mess. I want to hear more from the new guys - Regher and Erhoff in particular.
