Bmwolf21 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 http://www.suntimes....ran-center.html I've been pimping Chicago as a sensible trade partner for awhile. Their organizational depth char looks like this: http://www.hockeysfu...cago_blackhawks and they have about $4.9 million in cap space. Roy for one of Pirri, Kruger or McNeill and maybe a mid-round pick (2nd or 3rd if it's Pirri because he's the lowest ranked of the 3 prospects). They can absorb his full contract without sending money back (unless they insist on it). The defense is interesting, as I think Sekera definitely fits the bill for what they're looking for. That being said, I've really liked Sekera this year and I think he has a good contract, so I wouldn't be as enthusiastic about offloading him (not completely against it either though). Package Roy and Leo? Because his good at nothing, borderline NHL talent. Ok his a reasonable hitter but I can't remember the last time he actually put any emotion into his game (kind of important when you can't skate by on skill alone). Don't get me wrong his not pure-AHL like Ellis but his of average size and doesn't intimidate anybody. He could be improved and his contact is stupid. EDIT: Finley does his job better... I have to ask, because I saw it in one of your other posts - is there a difference in the Queen's English and American English between "he's" and "his"?
TrueBlueGED Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Package Roy and Leo? I have to ask, because I saw it in one of your other posts - is there a difference in the Queen's English and American English between "he's" and "his"? I'd be all over that if Chicago agreed. A lot depends on what they're looking for, as Sekera has been more steady defensively, but Leopold brings more offensive punch. From the Sabres perspective, I'd much much much rather ship out Leopold, but as the cliche goes, it takes two.
darksabre Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I want Kruger. Just so we can have a guy named Kruger.
nucci Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I understand 99% of his stuff is rumor, but when I look on hockeybuzz.com and he post someone has been traded its usually accurate... I bet it's true How hard is it to post someone has been traded after they have been traded?
qwksndmonster Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I want Kruger. Just so we can have a guy named Kruger. I want Kruger. Just so we can have a natural ###### center.
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I understand 99% of his stuff is rumor made up, but when I look on hockeybuzz.com and he post someone has been traded its usually accurate... I bet it's true Fixed. There is no accuracy to 99.9% of his writings.

I have to ask, because I saw it in one of your other posts - is there a difference in the Queen's English and American English between "he's" and "his"? he's = he is, his = ownership. He's a football or it's his football. Lol. I don't pay attention to stuff like that when I type though as I'm too lazy. Well on here anyway. :D

From the Sabres perspective, I'd much much much rather ship out Leopold, but as the cliche goes, it takes two. I guess the question is - what type of D-man is Chicago looking for in that second pairing? Physical defenseive defenseman? Puck-moving? Offensive? Leo's got some playoff experience, so that'll help sell him. Like you, I'd rather keep Sekera over Leo,

LTS Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Darcy has never been able to set the market. He waits for the market to set itself then he tries to make a move. Reactive rather than proactive. And at a glacial speed. Not to completely abandon reality here but do you think not a single team is having discussions right now? No, I think every team is having discussions right now. Discussions are different than trades. Darcy set the market by signing Ehrhoff and Leino this year. I wouldn't say NEVER. Sorry. I didn't realize you had criteria for what you consider to be a trade. <_< What if the Sabres got their #1 for 2013, or a #2 this year and next year, or a #2 and a cneter prospect? C'mon Darcy...be creative! :) No, it's a trade, but it involved clearing out someone who just called his team a bunch of losers. It's a bit different I would say. I would have to go back and look at the list in the first post of this thread.. but i was just reading LeBrun and here's his list of forwards: The list includes Derek Roy, Brad Boyes and Drew Stafford in Buffalo; Vaclav Prospal, Antoine Vermette and Kristian Huselius in Columbus; Ales Hemsky in Edmonton; Tuomo Ruutu in Carolina; and Jason Blake in Anaheim. He seems to indicate that there are 11-12 teams looking for a "Top 6" forward. If I'm looking at that list I'm not sure that Buffalo is in the worst position. Of course I'd need to put salaries to the names before I made sure of it. The trade deadline is when GM's do really stupid things and I fully support waiting until then to take advantage of that.
IKnowPhysics Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 If he's going, get him out of the conference. The only upside to sending him to Montreal is that we'll get to call him Derek Waaah.

There's your roster shake-up. It's right there. Six guys who may just need a change of scenery.
darksabre Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kVBGeQeR4 You are TOO MUCH Mr. Kruger, TOO MUCH! I want to hear RJ make that call. :w00t:
spndnchz Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 There's your roster shake-up. It's right there. Six guys who may just need a change of scenery. I like Ruutu.
Eleven Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I like Ruutu. It's a different deal for Ruutu, but I would have no problem trading the right player for him.
shrader Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kVBGeQeR4 I was thinking it too! All I could thing was "K Uger!"
nhl2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 While it always take two to tango, if the Sabres are well out of the playoff race (only 9 point behind right now -- not far enough to predict) the league would want these players: 1) Guastad. Say what you will about him but playoff teams would love a big pivot who can win faceoffs and kill penalties. He would fit easily on a team on the ice and off. He will fetch a 2nd rounder b/c of his experience and value on the ice. 2) Stafford. A cusp playoff team (6-8th seed) will take a flyer on a guy like this for a final push hoping he gets hot and scores in bunches for the final push. He is in good shape -- does not get injured and will be motivated to play for a fresh team. He can for sure hold his own in the corners against almost any defenseman. At the end of the day, he is a power forward by definition and he would be nice addition to a team looking for some size along the wing. He will fetch a late 1st rounder. Buffalo would be follish to deal him however. The team needs big wingers who can skate and particpate around the net. They have invested a great deal in his progress. A new regime at coach and GM ni Buffalo could wake him up from his slumber. Sabres should hold unless it is a top 10 1st round pick -- which is hard to predict. 3) Miller. There are a ton of good goalies now. The days of having 3 or 4 elite gusy is over. The european guys are rock solid for teams and add to the mix. His valie is at an all time low. A team would have to be very weak in net to give up the farm for him -- and that is how Regier must value him. As in any sport, you are only as good as your last game. 4) Roy. He was a dangerous little player when he gets going. But he is not a 1st line center. THe pressure got to him. I dont think a playoff team would want him to put him on the 3rd line (for his salary) at the cost Regier will want. At this point, his valuie has dipped and is no higher better than a Giotta or Mike Comrie type. The are worth a 2nd/ 3rd rounders. He still seems to be laboring a bit from the severe leg injury. Sabres must unload him however, for the fan base to keep happy. And the Sabres showed they could play without him last year when he went down. He could go to a non-playoff team out to the west coast for a 2nd rounder. 5) Hecht. He can paly center or wing. Good on defense. Has size. He would bring a 3rd rounder. Observations: Brennan. At his age, he sure does show much of anything. Weak on D, soso passer and skater. Why wont they call up D. Persson adn give him a chance? It would be surprising if he or Persson isn't dealt. Luke Adam - with his size, he is a panzie. He needs to hit to stay in the league. Engage defenders; lean on guys. Coaching to blame for his lazy play. Also skates awfully upright for some reason. 5)
Sabres Fan in NS Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 ...SNIP 2) Stafford. Good anaysis ... now change your avitar. I'm sorry but, I don't see any GM in the NHL viewing Stafford as a power forward and there is no way anyone will give the Sabres a top 10 pick for him.
inkman Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 It's a different deal for Ruutu, but I would have no problem trading the right player for him. I'll take Ruutu, Vermette, Prospal and Blake please.

I agree, a team that finds themselves in the situation of having a top 10 pick aren't going to be looking to move it, especially for a player like Stafford. I think Stafford does have value however, probably similar to what Edmonton received for Penner last year.
LabattBlue Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I'll take Ruutu, Vermette, Prospal and Blake please. I'd take the first two. The others are too old for any plan moving forward.
Claude_Verret Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 While it always take two to tango, 2) Stafford. At this point how can anyone possibly not be completely done with this guy and his unrealized potential?
inkman Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Observations: Brennan. At his age, he sure does show much of anything. Weak on D, soso passer and skater. Why wont they call up D. Persson adn give him a chance? It would be surprising if he or Persson isn't dealt. Persson hasn't even reached Mancari status in the organization with good reason. He's not good...at all. He can skate and shoot but has next to zero hockey IQ. Take the worst of Weber and Gragnani, throw in a little extra softness because he's a Euro and you've got Persson. He's on the second pairing on an AHL team missing it's top 4 defensman. Remember how out of place Finley looked in the NHL? Persson is 4 spots BELOW him on the depth chart. Some guy named Crawford is playing above him on the top pair. Your assesmemt of Brennan is a little premature. He's got all the tools, hits and fights as well. I could easily see him being a fifth or 6th Dman in the NHL. Not sure what you are expecting after 3 games in the bigs. I look for him to move ahead of MAGand Weber in the next year, although you may be right about him being moved just not for the reason you think. He's a good prospect that any team would covet.
