sarspants Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 At least Leino owned it in his post game. Until Koziol burned him... "He said he doesn't think it lead to a momentum shift, Hawks went on to score the next 4 goals..."
bunomatic Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Until Koziol burned him... "He said he doesn't think it lead to a momentum shift, Hawks went on to score the next 4 goals..." The sabres team lacing up their skates was a momentum shift. This team is pathetically bad and any number of plays, lack of effort or boneheaded give aways led to the hawks next 4 goals. I wouldn't put that on Leino. He has to be better no doubt.
TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Lindy looks and sounds like a defeated man who has no idea what to do It's really sad
Bullwinkle Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 You're kidding right? Doc Emrick is a great announcer. If this game had any intensity and was close, then no problem. After the 6th goal, Chicago completely letup on the gas and Buffalo certainly wasn't going to generate any excitement. Frankly I was more interested in their yammering vs. the actual game action (boredom). I think WanderingEye was talking about Emerick's style in general. I agree with him fully.
SwampD Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I think WanderingEye was talking about Emerick's style in general. I agree with him fully. I. Hate. Doc. Emmerick!!!! I really think he sucks.
Bullwinkle Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 What's worse, this stretch of futility or the Bills 7 game losing streak this year? Let's not bring the Bums into it. They are in their own league when it comes to futility.
darksabre Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Lindy looks and sounds like a defeated man who has no idea what to do It's really sad For his sake, he needs to be fired.
billsrcursed Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 i didn't think this team could play any worse. i was wrong. color me disappointed stars: 1.) pommer 2.) eh....blackhawks bags: 1.) sabres 2.) weber. this guy has looked like crap all season. he is a horrible skater, horrible with the puck, horrible with positioning, and he doesn't hit anyone like he did last year. i know it is a hard position, but this year he has not looked like an nhl defenseman. sabres And he's STILL better than MAG.... those 2 are a BIG part of the problem IMO, along with our forecheck(lack thereof) and lack of top 6 players.
Bullwinkle Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I. Hate. Doc. Emmerick!!!! I really think he sucks. I am agreeing with you.
TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 For his sake, he needs to be fired. Agreed.... he looks like a guy who needs to be put out of his misery at this point... I'll bet he wins a cup somewhere, but it won't be here
TrueBlueGED Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Lindy obviously has to handle the media better than that, but Harrington really is a tool. Ruff had just addressed that with two previous answers, and Harrington has to keep going at it by asking to sit him for even 1 shift? Really, that is the most meaningful question you can ask? Ruff might be a defeated man right now, but Harrington still sucks at his job too.
Bullwinkle Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 It seems like eons ago that we won those two games in Europe and were gung-ho for the Sabres to come back here and fight for the Cup. Maybe like a hundred eons ago.... But if it's any consolation, the draft this year is supposed to be a very deep one. Yakupov is the nr. 1 player. I'd love to trade up to get him! But I'm remembering Kulikov - the Sabres shy away from Russians.
rickshaw Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 My thoughts What was that penalty on Myers for that put them two men down? Shocking call. Leino is awful. Only 5 more yrs left. Ruff played Leino even though his gaff cost us the game. Why? Weber is not good. Sorry Mike, is that his first name Vanek was an absolute no show tonight. Mh prediction. Ruff gets canned, Vanek lights it up. He's done with Lindy. Roy, see ya. Gaustad looked fine skating off after the board but doesn't come back?? Interesting. Sure am glad I decided to take my so. To Vancouver to watch them in March. Not!
nfreeman Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Lindy looks and sounds like a defeated man who has no idea what to do It's really sad My wife, who watches the Sabres with me once in a while, was with me the other night when Lindy came on after they beat the Leafs. Her immediate reaction was to say that he looked like hell. For his sake, he needs to be fired. I hate to say it, but I'm starting to think that the humane thing to do is to put him out of his misery. As I mentioned a week or so ago, it really feels like something is coming to an end. This season is just about over. It's hard to see an outcome other than Darcy and Lindy, both of whom I think are good hockey guys and good guys generally, getting canned. And it was all sooooooo promising just two months ago. As fans we all want more wins and we're entitled to want them. It's ultimately right to hold Darcy and Lindy accountable, but I'm a bit sad about it anyway.

JJFIVEOH Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Leino made an absolute bonehead play on the Hawks 3rd goal. But do they really need to focus on that one play? I can think of plenty other questions to ask Lindy without needing to rub Leino in his face.
TrueBlueGED Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 That was someone else that asked that, not Harrington,.. and yes it was a meaningful question. It was Harrington, he even said as much on his twitter. And it would have been a meaningful question if it wasn't already answered several times already. Maybe he didn't like the answers, but that's really besides the point--you're not going to get anything else. Come up with a new question. To me it was just a crappy journalist going to a coach's press conference with 1 question worth of material.
... Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 At least Leino owned it in his post game. I'll have to hear that interview again, but it sounded like Hamilton had to press the issue before he "owned" it.
rickshaw Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Oh and sign me up for the Doc Emerick sucks petition. He's awful. Here are some of the useless words he uses to trh and make it sound interesting. Knifed, angled, scrubbed, touchup and more. Btw, scrubbed was after Crawford made a save. He scrubbed that aside??? Really?? There are more but why go on?
Kevbeau Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 If you watch the replay, Leino had every reason to think he had a trailer as he turned into the zone, but whoever had his back turned to the center of the ice. Bad decision...yes. But on the same level as all the passes into traffic that occur on a regular basis. His unfortunately resulted in a bang-bang play.

As fans we all want more wins and we're entitled to want them. It's ultimately right to hold Darcy and Lindy accountable, but I'm a bit sad about it anyway. As much as it pains me to credit Mike Schopp with anything, he makes an interesting point in his blog-posting at WGR55's site. He says something to the effect that Lindy, primarily, is "Buffalo"; that he's "ours", not only because he's coached so long here, but because he was a player here, makes his home here, etc. He was the one who said "no goal..." and that we feel, maybe tacitly, that he's a member of the WNY family (which he is) and we want to succeed with him. I can dig that. And it is sad in a way because we have to boot one of "our own". But, ultimately, the fans here are owed a long over-due winning team. Unless we want to run the hockey team like we run politics - vote for the same type of people, never do anything about poor performers or learn to live with it. Bitch and moan, but really never do anything serious about it. Personally, I'm all for change in a huge way both politically and for the hockey team. Hell, I'm looking for change on the scale of aliens landing and setting up camp in Delaware park (preferably right in the middle of the stupid golf course).
kishoph Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Sabres will get their big center when they will pick 5th on the draft lottery And Lindy will put him at Left Wing on the 4th line.
TheFunPolice Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 If/when the Sabres DO win the Cup, I REALLY wanted Lindy to be here to be a part of it.... but I just cannot see it happening Based on everything I've heard and read about Roy (and seen in meeting him) I can see Derek as "that guy" we've all known from time to time at work: always complaining behind the scenes, undermining the boss, muttering under his breath, awful body language, etc. It kills the morale in any workplace. People like that suck the life out of a room and make it miserable to come to work. Roy goes down, the team gets red hot last year. Who can forget the "friendly fistfight" at the charity dinner last season? then there is the way he carries himself overall... I am DONE with him. I would not be surprised at all if he was a MAJOR part of the problem in that locker room. When Drury and Briere were here he was just a guy, and would be kept in line by the big boys. Now he IS (supposedly) one of the "big boys." LOL at that.... I wish they could straight up cut Roy like in the NFL, but I would just dump him if necessary.
