Buffalo Fan Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 With Koivu down, they could use him...

Buffalo Fan Posted January 17, 2012 Author Report Posted January 17, 2012 See my response in the Miller thread. I'm not sure I understand...should I stop posting? Is this bothering you? I know you've got over 7000 post and have probably seen it all. I've got a little down time tonight so I thought I'd jump on and throw some thoughts out there. Don't mind me if this is bothering you.

No no, not attacking you. Just feeling a little touchy tonight. I apologize. I meant to imply that I'm not opposed to the idea because basically I feel the same way about any player on this team at the moment. I make the move, because, why not?

Got it...well I think all possibilities are on the table...and refering back to my IN TERRY WE TRUST thread, I really do think he is going to right this ship. Ted Black has to know what needs to be done.

Two or less Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 And supposedly Chicago is interested. Offer them Roy for Jeremy Morin. Kid is from Auburn, NY, has some size, and has swagger.
nfreeman Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I'm starting to think that the Sabres could, if they wanted to, easily unload Roy, Pommer, Leopold and possibly Stafford at the deadline (in addition to their upcoming UFAs -- Gaustad, Hecht and Boyes). Even Miller could go. There are enough teams out there that get deadline frenzy. The Sabres could load up on prospects, picks and cap space. If they were to unload the first 4 I mentioned, that's $16.3MM of cap space to go with the $6.75MM they'll get by letting go of the 3 UFAs -- for a total of $23MM+ to build around Myers, Vanek, Miller, Enroth, Regehr, Ehrhoff, McNabb, Weber, Gerbe, Kassian, Kaleta and Ennis (although Kaleta and Ennis will cost part of the $23MM). I feel like a competent GM could create a much better team from those building blocks than the travesty we're seeing now on a nightly basis.

Other than resigning Kaleta and Ennis, I hope you're prescient. There are usually about 10 teams or more league-wide in a bid for the bottom 6-7-8 slots with only about 4-5 points separating all of them. I think it would be easy at that time to move the dead weight IF THEY WANT TO. If. They. Want. To.

Who Else? Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Roy for anything. Get picks. Take the money and run. Hit the reset button for next season.
LabattBlue Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Jeremey White mentioned this morning that it is rumored that Chicago has a deal on the table for Roy. White goes on to say that the Sabres are best served to wait and see if a better deal comes along. WRONG! If the Chicago deal is one that provides a good return, just make the freaking trade. What if Chicago decides to look elsewhere while Buffalo is "waiting it out". "Sports talk for morons" should be WGR's slogan.

Well Bulldog i'm not so sure about. I think he's just more in his own little world and suffers from ADHD or something of that nature... I'm sure Chicago could find someone else if need be. Suitors looking for Roy are probably counted on one hand.

Suitors looking for Roy are probably counted on one hand. Well, I think this really depends on whether you think this season can be salvaged. If you do, then I agree -- pull the trigger for Roy ASAP and see if it wakes the rest of the team up. If you think this season is lost, then the goal should be to maximize the return for Roy and every other underperforming mediocrity on the roster (and there are plenty of them). Waiting until we get closer to the deadline will almost certainly help maximize the returns.
Claude_Verret Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Sure Roy and Stafford should have been gone long ago, but there shouldn't be a single player on this team who is off limits when Darcy picks up the phone.
RazielSabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I'm not sure for who but I would offer Stafford, Roy to Minny and see what big, gritty guys they can offer in return. If not just take a 1st and futures for the pair.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Well im hungry, soooo let's trade Roy and Stafford for a few wegmans subs, throw in MAG for some side items and call it a day ;)

Wyldnwoody44 Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Those subs might put us over the cap. Ok ill put down the shaved steak and just make it two cold subs? C'mon darcy!! Throw in an Arnold Palmer, and you've got yourself a great trade! That'll take Leopold to pull off, but im willing to pull the trigger
frissonic Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 How about Vanek to Min, Ottawa, Anaheim, Pitts or maybe even Montreal? If the Sabres are going to have to rebuild from scratch they may as well let Vanek go for the cap room,a center and some picks or prospects. It may be time to trade him . He has paid his dues here and deserves to see what his upside looks like on a team with a center, pp and some secondary scoring. Four years without a one center or a power play is enough . They should let him go. They can build around, Myers, Kassian, Adam ,Tropp, Brennan, McNabb, Gerbe, Ennis, Pom, Roy, Leino and the youth Vanek would bring in a trade.Lindy would probably like to have more youth around on the bench. Better yet, throw in Pominville. That way, we can unload pretty much ALL of our scoring. Here's another idea. Keep those two and Myers, keep Kassian, Tropp, McNabb, Brennan, and McCormick up on a regular basis (ESPECIALLY Kassian), and unload pretty much everyone else. Also, trade Lindy for a bottle of Lortab or Percocet.
