JJFIVEOH Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Some random schlub named Patt Leggs is reporting on twitter that Miller has requested a trade and will only go to a west conference team. Take it with some big grains of salt, but I thought i'd pass it on. https://twitter.com/...421210659258368 Edit: looks like this is in the Caps Slots thread as well but it probably belongs here. Somebody already beat you by about an hour and a half. Look up. :P

Two or less Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Some random schlub named Patt Leggs is reporting on twitter that Miller has requested a trade and will only go to a west conference team. Take it with some big grains of salt, but I thought i'd pass it on. https://twitter.com/...421210659258368 Edit: looks like this is in the Caps Slots thread as well but it probably belongs here. Very interesting timing of this tweet. Because I was watching the Toronto/Ottawa game tonight on my GameCenter Live, and during the 2nd intermission, the panal had a discussion about the Buffalo Sabres and what was wrong with the team. They specifically focused much of it on Ryan Miller. While they said nothing newsworthy at all, they did add this. Nick Kypreos and Doug McLean both said that Miller will not be traded now or probably ever. They spoke as if they had inside sources. They said goalies just don't get traded mid-season and unless he has a Patrick Roy type meltdown, he won't be dealt. If, and a unlikely if, he gets traded, it'd be during the off-season. But, they said his value isn't anywhere near what many suspect. They said not many teams in the NHL will want to give anything of significance for a $6 million, 31 year old goalie in todays game. Also, next summer both Martin Brodeur and Miikka Kiprusoff can be had at a good price, which lowers Miller's value. The host then said "Can the Sabres somehow pull a Miller for one of the Ducks 3 forwards (Perry/Ryan/Getzlaf) and both Kyrpeos and McLean said "No way". They said Ducks are not interested in Miller.
Bmwolf21 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I thought I was home alone on the subject. How does society judge whether or not one is doing a good job; I would argue performance. A coaches performance is measured aggregately; moreover, individual player performance good or bad may indicate whether or not the coach is still effective in his/her role. I would argue that the individual performance of our star goalie Ryan Miller is an indicator of Jim Corsi inability to communicate adequately. After watching the recent Ryan Miller interview, it seems to confirm my suspicion that the appropriate answers are not being provided. The onus is upon Jim Corsi to provide all the tools necessary so that Ryan Miller can evolve, change, and be prepared to play in the NHL. If Ryan is making consistent technical mistakes e.g. consistently going down into the butterfly position to early, then may i suggest Corsi is irrelavent and it is time to find someone that can help Ryan. Unless Ryan Millers' head is complete mush, then I suspect he is still capable of receiving instruction. Miller is proven as an elite goalie; I would not want to see him go, I still think he has a lot to offer. Please excuse my spelling and grammatical errors. Does this new software have spell check? Use Firefox or Chrome. Built-in spellcheckers. I've been running alongside the "what is Corsi doing" bandwagon for a while. I always felt like our goalie prospects over the last 10 years or so have plateaued once they hit the pros. Could be their ceilings weren't as high as we thought, but one has to wonder if, as Lindy's message seems to have grown stale, Corsi's has as well. Milbury put it simply just now... shut up and play... (to miller). And they're confused on the nice comment. To me I think miller meant stop being nice to those in the locker room... pommers said the same thing. Hmmm... Milbury is a complete imbecile who shouldn't be on television. Agreed on the rest, they just don't hold each other accountable in the locker room and we've been hearing that for years. It certainly wouldn't surprise me. If I were him I would have asked for a trade after the Lucic incident. And the whole wife thing makes sense...marriage is stressful, even when it's good, and being 3000 miles away from the person you love would only make it worse. And I can't fault him for it, it's just being human, these guys aren't cyborgs. That being said, unless I hear it from a mainstream source like LeBrun or Dreger, to me it's just another "this makes TOTAL sense so I'm going to toss it out on the internet and see what happens!" Milbury is a caveman idiot. The only thing he said that made sense was "it's tough to call out teammates when you are struggling yourself" but everything else seemed like rambling, incoherent non-sequiturs.
RazielSabre Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Miller was hung out to dry once out of the five goals. That was Lidstrom's goal. The first goal beat Miller high glove from the left high slot. The second goal was Miller getting beat clean, again for the slot, this time the right. The fourth goal was the Bertuzzi spin-o-rama with Miller for some reason on his knees. The fifth goal was a 2-2 played poorly by Boyes. 14 shots over 24:32 of game time is not a barrage. It only seems that way when 5 go into the net. I'm not saying the team played well last night, they were out classed. The problem I have is that the $6 mil goalie did nothing to help the situation. So your happy with the turnovers, they're acceptable as Miller should be able to save them. It's even expected of him. Defense actually defend their zone? Pah! I'm being silly. Most of the goalies in this league wouldn't have saved those chances (including both of the goalies who played in the SCF).

No, but turnovers happen. Because there is a turnover means miller isn't expected to make the save? or miller is given a pass if he doesn't make the save regardless of how hard or easy it was? A goalies only job is to see puck and stop puck, no matter how hard it is to do, it is his job to cover up mistakes made be the rest of the team.

Agreed, Miller should have kept the game at 3-0 but some of those turnovers were brutal. I'm not 'giving Miller a pass' but as I say blaming Miller is short sighted, his part of the issue without question but his not the only reason this team is in a hole. In fact on a number of occasions his highlighted that this team needs to be better but not one player has been playing well recently. Not one. Myers is just back from his injury and hasn't been awful but even he needs to step it up a gear.
SportsFan88 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I can only hope this is wrong. Why? If he does want out and is sucking it up it might be best for both parties involved going forward!
shrader Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I think the Sabres need to hire Pat Lalime to hold Miller's hand in the locker room.
SportsFan88 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Miller has never been popular in the room, neither has Roy. There are major personality issues going on.... these guys have had a falling out. Goose and miller .. Why Miller's wife wont move here makes no sense..... is she employed full time? i mean what gives. If you could live in Hollywood or Snowy cold Buffalo do you really think youd take the latter? I'm not saying Buffalo sucks by any means but come on.... Hey, I'm a fan of Miller but how has he proven to be an "elite" Agreed. One great season doesn't make a guy elite
Miller30 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I think the Sabres need to hire Pat Lalime to hold Miller's hand in the locker room. I had the same thought and as weird as it sounds not a totally bad idea.
spndnchz Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I think the Sabres need to hire Pat Lalime to hold Miller's hand in the locker room. He was talking with Montador at practice today. Maybe that'll turn him around. (insert appropriate emoticon here)
hockeyhound Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012  Hey, I'm a fan of Miller but how has he proven to be an "elite" Would world class goalie do it for you?
spndnchz Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 To put the rumors aside for a while: "I have not and will not ask for a trade," Miller told TSN's James Duthie via a text message. "I will fall on the 'Sabre' before that.
Ross Rhea Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Would world class goalie do it for you? They are all "world class" if they are playing in the NHL.
nobody Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 To put the rumors aside for a while: "I have not and will not ask for a trade," Miller told TSN's James Duthie via a text message. "I will fall on the 'Sabre' before that. I think I like the fall on the Sabre part - could be hokey but I think it is more classy.
spndnchz Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I think I like the fall on the Sabre part - could be hokey but I think it is more classy. Ryan "The Samurai" Miller.
nobody Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Ryan "The Samurai" Miller. Maybe at home games people need to start chanting 'Banzai'
wonderbread Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Here's a link from Spector's blog on "what's wrong w/ RM" http://thegoalieguild.com/2012/01/my-perspective-on-ryan-millers-struggles/
LTS Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I'm thinking we just need to shelve him for awhile. This happens. It happened to Tim Thomas. Two years ago he was complete crap. Rask was the #1 and Thomas was a serviceable backup. There were all kinds of comments about Thomas being done. Then last year.. reversed. It happens.. it does. I don't like Miller, I never have. But he's here and frankly he should be riding the pine. He should accept that his game is not where it needs to be and that Enroth needs to be in net for the team to win. If Miller starts to play well in his games (every 5-6 games) then perhaps try playing him more.

fan2456 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 . I love how everyone speculates what he is thinking, despite him saying the opposite. He wants to play in Detroit! He wants to play in LA with his wife! And why would Detroit want him over Howard? Ah come on!! WGR hosts do it everyday with regard to all the atheletes in this city and get paid for it. They even tell us what "we" the fans think. Can't we have some fun too?

HopefulFuture Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 how about field an acceptable defense in front of him? And somebody please post something that would indicate Miller's cockiness. I just want to see this once. I love how everyone speculates what he is thinking, despite him saying the opposite. He wants to play in Detroit! He wants to play in LA with his wife! And why would Detroit want him over Howard? Well, to be quite candid, if I had a wife like DeWulf I'd want to play with her all the time to
