SwampD Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Most of the callers have been good so far but this last guy was one of the typical shmucks we get on here lately. "Biron is better than Miller...racking up points in New York" 'Mike Grier was the man". Ughhhh.... Here comes Lindy. Lindy: "We played hard the first period" "made mistakes that cost us" "getting sekera back helped but leopold and weber had a tough night" end of the first period was "a shot in the gut" Short, nothing to bite on. He knows better than to say what he really thinks. Yeah. That was tough to listen to. I love Hamilton's comments, though. Whenever I'm mad about a loss, he says everything I'm thinking and I feel better. If only his players questions weren't softballs...
darksabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Yeah. That was tough to listen to. I love Hamilton's comments, though. Whenever I'm mad about a loss, he says everything I'm thinking and I feel better. If only his players questions weren't softballs... I think he just knows at this point that he isn't going to get the answers he wants anyway. These players are so good at their schtick his interviews don't matter.
ubkev Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I want to know why miller never came back to the bench in the game? Did lindy mandate it? Was it miller being a stubborn bitc...? What if enroth had gotten hurt and had to come out? Do we now have to wait for miller to get dressed for the game to continue?
wonderbread Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Yeah. That was tough to listen to. I love Hamilton's comments, though. Whenever I'm mad about a loss, he says everything I'm thinking and I feel better. If only his players questions weren't softballs... I like when Paul's voice gets smaller. It almost gets to a whisper. As he ends the interview. Kozial pumping Millers interview.
TrueBlueGED Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I'm not even sure what Ruff can do at this point in time, it's not like he has many options. On defense, it is what it is until we get Ehrhoff and Regehr back, it's not like Myers can play 50 minutes....although you could argue a half dead Myers may still be an upgrade. I know with forwards you could argue we should bring up some guys from Rochester, but in all honesty, I don't want them here right now. I'd rather they win down in the AHL than play on one of the worst teams in the NHL. This isn't about firing him and/or Regier, or how incompetent he is, but what are his legitimate hockey options given the current roster? Instead of "you're Pegula, what do you do?" I'm interested in "you're Ruff, what do you do?" The easy thing is to play Enroth more, but other than that, what are his options to get the offense going with the roster as currently constructed?
Randall Flagg Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Haha love the huge bleep they took forever to input to the miller interview, discouraged on his comments of how there wont be any trades...
wonderbread Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Miller talking details. Not there. Not good hockey from top down. I can't get in a groove. Embarraing family friends Not his decision on the coach. No trade could fix this team. Not return. If you want to destroy the team. Beeeeep!!! Stop being nice.
darksabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Boyes: didn't capitalize on chances gotta prevent turnovers Hamilton called him on his lost backcheck on Helm "you gotta learn, you gotta show that you've learned from the previous game" thinks that a shakeup will happen if things continue as they are Hamilton: "are you guys looking for Darcy to do something?" "I don't think that's the case at all" "gotta play harder" "gotta put in a couple chances" "gotta find ways to win" I just don't think Boyes knows what to say. Miller: "We made a couple mistakes in the first and they capitalized" "details weren't there" "it's not good hockey, it's not good from top down. I need to be better, and I can't seem to find a night to get in a groove" "it's embarrassing" "at least they got to watch Drew perform" "if you guys think there's going to be a trade that affects this team any more than we can do in this locker room" "there's no chance anybody comes into this team and shakes things up" "if you want to destroy a team and just go out and be reckless" "this locker room is going to be completely the same" Sounds to me like he thinks trading players wont change anything. Interesting.

Interesting. Well I'd say he was pretty candid. Can't fault him there.
bunomatic Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I thought Miller sounded rather calm throughout the interview( despite f-bomb ).

SwampD Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I thought Miller sounded rather calm throughout the interview( despite f-bomb ). I think he sounded like a whiny b!tch, just like he always does.
HopefulFuture Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 It's not the players fault they are still here, so to attack them just because they feel frustrated as well is pointless. As many have pointed out, this all rests with Darcy Regier.
JJFIVEOH Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 While I agree with his comments, it's nice to know one of the first things he mentioned was trying to look good for his friends.
TrueBlueGED Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I liked the Miller interview a lot, although words can only go so far at this point. I think a few of the comments were very telling...that a trade isn't going to fix anything. He essentially said the players right now don't have any value, and even if they did, changing a few guys in the locker room won't fix the team. Also, when he said "we have to find it in here" [to fix it] he actually pointed to his heart, which says a ton. Coupled with the other comment: too many guys just don't have the heart, the internal motivation to be great, and nothing can fix that except themselves. Miller has been abysmal this season, but, I don't think it's because he doesn't try. Wish we could say the same for some other players.
wonderbread Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Pommers getting roughed up. Hamilton asking him if he feels they are forcing Darcy's hand. No excuses for the play Stammering his arse off.
darksabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Pominville: "no idea" "thought we came out pretty good" "but our attention to detail cost us" "what frustrates me is we were a better team when we were down 5 nothing than zero-zero" "attention to detail" "we gotta wake up" "it starts with being prepared to play and attention to detail" "it's not up to [Darcy], it's up to us" "we gotta make our decisions on the ice and be better on the ice" "again we weren't prepared" "our attention to detail right off the bat wasn't very good and it cost us the first period and the game" "you're right Paul" "we can't make excuses" "we have enough guys in the lineup right now to win games" "mistakes have come from guys that would be in the lineup no matter what" "we gotta figure things out ourselves" "[Terry] has done more than his part, given everything to us to have success" "it's to us to give back" "i'll take the blame for it" "it's gotta be enough with the talk"
wonderbread Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 I feel pity for these guys. There just not good.
darksabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 The one thing I've taken from these interviews is that Ruff is ineffective. This locker room is completely borked and these players are non-responsive. Ruff absolutely must go. I've never believed it more than I do now.

carpandean Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 "what frustrates me is we were a better team when we were down 5 nothing than zero-zero" When Detroit started coasting? I know it's hard to recognize since they still were putting in more effort, but that was them coasting. Of course you looked better against that. So well, in fact, that you tied them 0-0 during that period.

Of course you looked better against that. So well, in fact, that you tied them 0-0 during that period. Detroit let up and it was noticeable. As I said earlier I felt at that point they started practicing systems within the game and just hanging back. Buffalo outshot them 8-0 at one point and it wasn't because Buffalo was the better team obviously. That Detroit team is a machine.
darksabre Posted January 17, 2012 Report Posted January 17, 2012 Just some more thoughts in my head right now, but if this were a team with a real GM then the Chicago game would be Lindy's last chance to prove himself. On a real team his job is on the line. If he doesn't go absolutely ape sh*t and bench anyone not moving their feet, then he gets the cane. Simple as that. But it wont happen here. We know it, the players know it, and the media knows it. This is the bottom, it does not get lower. There should not be a player on that team that has any ability to feel worse than right now. Chicago should be the tipping point. I wish I was confident enough in our management to believe it actually could be.
