Bmwolf21 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Very well but any trade of Myers for someone of getzlafs caliber is foolish I'm sorry but that's the truth and the only reason we are talking about it is cuz rrgier can't manage a team effectively While you're at it, could you work in some punctuation here and there? Maybe break up some of these run-on rambles into smaller, easier-to-digest sentences?
drnkirishone Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 trading myers for getzlaf could turn into our chara for yashin
Bullwinkle Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 And that dump of Roy would need to happen first. So if all of a sudden that kind of deal is made, then we can stop and think about Getzlaf-Myers. Let's face it - we are in cap prison. trading myers for getzlaf could turn into our chara for yashin This is a good point. Everyone is down on trading Miller because he's having such a bad season but at the same time they're high on Getzlaf - and he's having a bad season too! Why the double standard? Quality players are quality players despite their ups and downs. Look at Zetterberg, St. Louis, Perry, Ovechkin, Parise, etc. These guys started poorly but I think we'd consider ourselves lucky to get any one of them. Why? Because we know that their talent will prevail. Same for Miller. He may stink now, but I think every team in the NHL recognizes his abilities and teams like Columbus and Tampa would LOVE to have him.

Why the double standard? Because Miller is a washed up bum, and the other guy just needs a change of scenery, duh! I tend to agree with you, but at some point people do start to trail off. Chris Drury is a great example. We loved the guy, but within two years of leaving here he was too broken (at 33?) to play. I don't think Miller is at that point yet, but it *is* possible.
