RazielSabre Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 What would be wrong with holding the All star game in a non-hockey town? Somewhere that has a rink, or even an outside all star game. You get the idea anyway, promote hockey at its finest level. It would also stop there from being 4 Ottawa players just because the game is in Ottawa... Thoughts? Just thinking aloud really.
BuffaloFan32 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I think it is worth doing every 5 cycles or so. I live in Houston and the Toyota Center (where the Rockets play) has a minor league team that plays there. It would be cool to have an All Star Game here. A game in Las Vegas (where the NHL awards are) would be cool too.
LTS Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I'm pretty sure the NHL is worried that having the All-Start game in a non-NHL city could lead to horrid attendance since many people don't care about it anyway.
RazielSabre Posted January 12, 2012 Author Report Posted January 12, 2012 I was wondering if it was advertised as being the best in hockey whether it would a) lead to a fair lineup and b) promote hockey in smaller markets. I think it is worth doing every 5 cycles or so. I live in Houston and the Toyota Center (where the Rockets play) has a minor league team that plays there. It would be cool to have an All Star Game here. A game in Las Vegas (where the NHL awards are) would be cool too. I think this is a good idea, probably better than my original one.
