nfreeman Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Will DR and LR be in their jobs at the end of this season regardless of what happens on the ice? So even if they lose 8 of their next 10 and are effectively eliminated from the playoffs with 30 games left, are their jobs secure?
obstructedorangeseats Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Confirmation/explanation on Ruff's contract status/details would be nice, since it seems to be a lingering question from last night.
FolignosJock Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Can you ask him about the status of the ice?? Did the dehumidifiers make a noticeable difference? Do the players like it better?
nfreeman Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Is there an experienced "hockey man" evaluating the roster/DR/LR at present?
Realist Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 anyone have questions for Mr Black? You mean other than, What the ###### is going on? Seriously, though, what's going on in his and Peg's mind about this? Are they just blaming it all on injuries or are they seriously thinking of any changes that can be made?
Huckleberry Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 If there are still drew stafford and derek roy jerseys left ? cause i want to buy one
FolignosJock Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I have so much that I would ask but I dont want to be rude and I know you arent going to ask questions that are dickish.
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 If Stanley Cup train leaves station A at X Speed, and Sabres Train leaves the station at 1 per 3 seasons, how slow does Sabres train have to be going to unload unwanted passengers in order to speed up to catch Stanley Cup train?
darksabre Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 What are your expectations for this team for the remainder of the season and where do you expect them to finish in the standings?
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 What are your expectations for this team for the remainder of the season and where do you expect them to finish in the standings? I had an expectations joke, but in the way of productivity, I've already had 1 non contributive post in this thread. In all seriousness though, that is a fair question, asking management where they expect us to be as the second half of the season starts rolling along. Maybe getting Black's opinion or expectations, we can get a better glimpse of what management is thinking (or maybe I'm jsut being naive)
FolignosJock Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 What are your expectations for this team for the remainder of the season and where do you expect them to finish in the standings? This is reasonable, ask this please. Can you also ask what he feels needs to be fixed from the first half... is it injuries and goaltending? is the makeup of the team not enough? does he think this team can compete for a stanley cup?
... Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Two things: Would he confirm the length of Ruff's contract that we heard about duing last night's game. Has he heard Roy's comments about lowered expectations and, if so, his reaction to those comments.

Maybe getting Black's opinion or expectations, we can get a better glimpse of what management is thinking (or maybe I'm jsut being naive) And I specifically left it non-complex because I don't want it to be a trap. Just tell us if you still expect us to be a playoff team. I don't expect to be told we're Stanley Cup contenders right now. But I want to know if he expects this team to be better than it has been thus far. If he does, that would imply to me that some changes are coming.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 1) What is Ken Sawyer's role in the franchise and is he located in Buffalo or somewhere else? If he has any say in hockey decisions, he was able to let go a Stanley Cup winning GM in Craig Patrick and brought in Ray Shero who immediately remade a team by adding griity players such as Mark Recchi, Jarrko Ruutu, Gary Roberts, and George LaRoques in the span of his first 60 games on the job. Is it fair to say that sometimes change needs to be made, and is successful?
2ForTripping Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Why bother? He'll blow sunshine & lollipops up the a$$es of all who listen, he'll tow the company line , be patient, injuries, blah blah etc,,,

He'll blow sunshine & lollipops up the a$$es of all who listen, he'll tow the company line , be patient, injuries, blah blah etc,,, Not sure about that. Black seems a little more down-to-earth, but will still come up with his share of excuses why nothing has been done so far. I do, however, fully expect him to promote the upgraded food in the 200 level.
Koomkie Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Is there an experienced "hockey man" evaluating the roster/DR/LR at present? i love this question. please do ask if someone from the outside is evaluating ALL coaching staff and players independently.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 2) Would you ever consider a rebate system to season ticket holders if the team fails to make the playoffs in a year where you have the highest paid team in hockey? Considering more than half of the teams in the NHL make the playoffs, would it not be considered a colossal disappointment for this team to miss, and would you not expect even your most loyal fans to be hesitant in re-upping for tickets next year?
R_Dudley Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 1.) How do they measure the succes of their General manager and coach ? 2.) What is the level of accountability they hold them to assuming they do measure them ? 3.) Does the current managment/front office have a plan for the type of team and product they are assembling ? 4.) Do they know what criteria said managment team uses for evaluating and selecting the players that best fit that vision ? 5.) Did he(black), Pegs and Ken sawyer research and buy off on 3 and 4 above when taking this team over and before this summer ? 6.) Assuming they did some level of research and approval for 3 and 4 above, Do they still believe the plan is a good one ?
Koomkie Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 1.) i would like to know if darcy's contract was extended along with lindy's? 2.) Does he genuinely believe the Sabres Fan IQ is too high to cheer at games, or that maybe the crowd of death is just fed up with the years of status quo, no effort, no passion to win, no goals, no goaltending, no hitting, no backing up of teammates, blah blah. obviously in a way that is not so rude and butthurt. 3.) the status of goose's contract ( i believe someone here had mentioned they had been talking) 4.) are any talks being held with hecht or boyes? 5.) what do they plan on doing to inject, passion, grit and 60 mins of effort into this team? 6.) are the players asked to play nonphysical? there are games against teams like boston, where they know they have to come out and hit, and everyone does to some extent, but the majority of games the team as a whole avoids the check as if it is part of the game strategy. 7.) i believe an interview was held two weeks ago and black said they would look at the team in a week and begin to see what direction they plan to go in. ...have they met?...and what is the initial outcome of those meetings? sorry if we were only supposed to put one question...i am still really angry about the lindy ruff signing from last night. i just hope that we get some sort of strong message as to what they plan on doing. thank you for doing this.
carpandean Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Not so much a question, more of a comment: the famous quote from Miracle: "I'm not looking for the best players; I'm looking for the right players" applies to more than just players. Sometimes the best coach isn't the right coach; likewise for the GM (not that I actually feel that either is "the best" at his position.) It doesn't matter if Lindy would immediately be snatched up by some other team, or that he might actually do well there; what matters is if a different voice, a different rudder would be more effective here. More generally, remind him that, while this may be the first full season under TPegs, it's the 14th under Darcy and Lindy. So, when fans see the bad aspects of this team as characteristic of previous teams under those two, asking for patience sounds less reasonable than it would have had they cleaned house when they came in. Long-term contracts and full, unconditional support sound less like sound business practices and more like someone who has become enamored with an idea, rather than evaluating reality. Even with patience, accountability must be stressed. The possibility of a change, even if not eminent, must be accepted.
