carpandean Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I went to bed after the Sabres game, but before the Jets game, thinking "if the Jets win, then the season is basically over." They didn't, but Washington still has to play their 68th game. Hopefully, the B's can beat them, too.

Washington in Beantown - could be a rough game. Jets also play in Calgary after catching a night flight out of Vancouver - we'll see how much energy they have. ;)
Sabre fan Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I think the truth is that Washington will pass the Cats, which will put OV and company up at third in the conference, and knock Florida back down tied with the Jets for the last playoff spot. And I think we have a much better chance of passing both the Jets and Cats in the long-run. I do think the Caps will make the playoffs, but both Florida and the Jets are suspect...but if the Sabres do get in, playing Boston in the first round is pretty much an exercise in fruitility. Hopefully we'll meet the Rangers or Pens, who I think the Sabres would have a much better chance against.
LastPommerFan Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 With Toronto falling out, there are basically 5 teams fighting for 2 spots and we can only get 1 of them. FLA, WAS, TBL, and WPG will all play each other several times between now the end of the season. It is unlikely that 2 of those teams will run away with all of those games. I'll bet 10-4 (90pts) is good enough to get in. Which means we need to beat the teams we're supposed to beat and sneak out 2 points from @OTT, @NYR, vs. PIT, @PHI, and @BOS. We likely must win @FLA, @TB, and @WAS I expect to see Miller in every game until we clinch.
spndnchz Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Tonight rooting for: Calgary over Jets 9PM Pittsburgh over Florida 7PM
spndnchz Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Calgary up 2-0 on the Jets. Florida loses in a shoot out to the Pens. All good. Calgary now 3-0.
JJFIVEOH Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Why do you want FL to lose? Somebody's gotta take that division. If they lose then it just clutters up the 8-11 spots.
SwampD Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Calgary up 2-0 on the Jets. Florida loses in a shoot out to the Pens. All good. Calgary now 3-0. It's now 3-2.

Anything to keep Florida down and Washington down is good. It doesn't mean that Florida is top three or Washington's top three and the other is in eighth place. If we get Florida or Washington top three and the other drops out of eighth it leaves that spot open. On another note Pittsburgh with eight wins in a row. And Crosby coming back Holy cow!

TheMatrix31 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Getting some help last night. Today we need: Boston over Washington Philly over Toronto Carolina over Tampa Bay Ew.
OverPowerYou Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Getting some help last night. Today we need: Boston over Washington Philly over Toronto Carolina over Tampa Bay Why do we always have to root for the teams we absolutely despise when it comes to this time of year?
Punch Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Getting some help last night. Today we need: Boston over Washington Philly over Toronto Carolina over Tampa Bay Ew. Wow: Boston, Philly and Carolina... the 3 teams I hate the most. At least we can root against Toronto, DC and Ottawa.
TheMatrix31 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 One time we need these Bruin punks to win and they go down 2 in the first ten minutes. Figures.
Derrico Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Watching that Bruins / Caps game. I turned it on with a half period gone but it's been all Bruins and Vokun has absolutely robbed the B's on several chances. For a team with poor goaltending he's sure playing well unfortunately.
TheMatrix31 Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 I can't wish for Boston to win. I just can't. Impossible. Just hope we win so we can keep pace.
Assquatch Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Why do we always have to root for the teams we absolutely despise when it comes to this time of year? I hate rooting for just about any other team.
BarDown Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Caps up 4-2 late in the second.
