Iron Crotch Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 For what it's worth... as much as I would like to see Darcy get off his lazy a$$ and do something for a change, I really hope Hemsky isn't brought in here. Just what we need, another soft forward. If he was a center, I'd be for it. But, another smallish winger doesn't make much sense... plus he has a $4.1 million cap hit, which is steep.
deluca67 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 The Oilers are a young, talented and soft squad. If the Sabres had any physical game they would be making this a difficult game for the Oilers to play. Yet, here we are after 20 minutes and Oilers outhitting the Sabres 10-7.
kishoph Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Better 2nd half. Ellis has more TOI than Vanek Pommers, Kassian and Adam.
lalalalalaFontaine Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 If he was a center, I'd be for it. But, another smallish winger doesn't make much sense... plus he has a $4.1 million cap hit, which is steep. but we all know how darcy is infatuated with small, soft, expensive forwards. which means the rumors are likely true...!!!
sabres1970 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 My god, what an awful start to the period. Thanks Pommer for bring the game back to life. Agreed, they did play much better after they got on the score-sheet. Gotta carry it into the next period. Defense has to wake up and compensate for the speed of these Edmonton wingers. Leo needed to break up that opportunity that lead to Hall's goal. Tighten up D. Keep up the back-check we had going in the last 5 minutes and we should be okay.
Huckleberry Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 They'll need to improve if they want to win
Rico7 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 They'll need to improve if they want to win Understatement of the year?
spndnchz Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 They need to start winning some draws.
wjag Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 It really is astonishing to watch this team. They appear to have lost their ability to play attack hockey.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 They need to start winning some draws. well having Roy out there with 2 seconds left in their zone was a real smart move by Lindy :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
spndnchz Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 It really is astonishing to watch this team. They appear to have lost their ability to play attack hockey. Is it they're too worried about messing up?
deluca67 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Robi just stated the Sabres had a "Toothless Forecheck", how does that compare to the 1-3-1?
Huckleberry Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 personally i'd like to see a better, more agressive forecheck. but guess the team lacks confidence
Neo Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Unfortunately, they're not too soft for MAG ... if that shift's any indication.
North Buffalo Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Is it they're too worried about messing up? And as a result their forecheck stinks, though it is something that can be and at times are very good at. I agree. ? is Ruff making the shifts too short, that is why the guys are so worried about getting off the ice.?? It seems like the forwards shift up at the most inopportune times.. which result in a lot of odd man against chances and goals not in a good way.
Iron Crotch Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Leoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! (from the much maligned Stafford)
Kelly the Dog Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Wow. Helluva ply by Stafford. Great shot by Leo.
wjag Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Is it they're too worried about messing up? Well that was a pretty score by Leopold.. Seems like I was dissing him today and that's my payback
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 nice work behind net by Drew on that goal by leopold
spndnchz Posted January 4, 2012 Author Report Posted January 4, 2012 Oil goal waived off. Interference. Lucky.
