That Aud Smell Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 I still believe it is a combination of both of these. Actually it's Chet, Muffy & kids. Is it just me or are there more little kids at Sabres games then ever? Kids who are more concerned with concessions & Sabretooth, than they are the game. I think this is a byproduct of cheap season tickets. Of course if they raised season ticket prices, chances are there would be less kids, but also a chance less tickets sold in general. there are a fair amount of kids at the game. and some of them are focused on the peripheral elements. but many of them are watching the game intently, and making noise. the constituency of the fans is a factor, but the constituency of the team is a larger factor by an order of magnitude.
nfreeman Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Gerbe has had a great game - I still say he is a future captain. Gerbe had the best game last night that any Sabre has had since Lucic-Miller. If they want to have a shot at rescuing this misbegotten season, they should, at practice this morning, give Gerbe the C, give Myers and Regehr the As, send Roy home and tell him he's about to be traded for whatever they can get for him, and try to pretend the decision to give the letters to the current "leadership group" never happened. at last night's game, i don't think i saw one crisp breakout from the sabres -- most of the time, they were just chipping and muddling their way into the neutral zone. just ugly hockey. i've become convinced that the center isn't quiet because of chet and muffy (and similar culture changes among fans); the center is quiet because the fans have grown bone tired of a team that plays (and a coach that implements) hockey that is both ugly and uninspiring/uninspired. I agree that the Sabres are unable to execute a crisp breakout, but I also think that this is largely due to the absence of Myers, Ehrhoff and Sekera. As for the 2nd point -- I agree 100%. The fans need a reason to believe, and right now they have none.
SwampD Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Some random thoughts on the game- -It was fun. That was a post-lockout hockey game and I really think that I like those better. I don't care what it means for the rest of the season or where we stand compared to the rest of the league. I enjoyed it. -McNabb played much better. He always had the hitting in him, but he was much better positionally last night. -I don't know why, but I was very impressed by the broadcast as a whole. The production just seems better; the graphics, the camera blocking, the desk, everything. It's pretty slick and I like it. It wasn't much but that's all I got.
DumbPuck Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 This forum drives me nuts sometimes. Two weeks ago in the injury thread there was a large contingent of "veteran" posters indicating that they didn't think Gerbe even deserved a roster spot once he was healthy (or should be traded at best). You guys flip-flop more than a .... flip-flopperer. I don't think I am being "too emotional" when I say that this team needs a Gerbe.
Doohicksie Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 The too many men call was just dumb. It was Leo dogging it to the bench. I don't blame McNabb at all.
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 It was Leo dogging it to the bench. I don't blame McNabb at all. That's my point. someone dogging it to the bench, ruining an opportunity.

I doubt it was a large contingent as I am pretty sure it was mostly me. Gerbe had a great game. But I'm not ready to back off from what I said yet.
inkman Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Stafford is starting to remind me of Macarthur with all these multipoint games, but no consistency. Sad thing is that Stafford is vastly more talented than little Clarkey.
RazielSabre Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Sad thing is that Stafford is vastly more talented than little Clarkey. Yep, but as proved with the 1st overall conversation that rarely makes for the best players.
dEnnis the Menace Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Drew Stafford: All Some Talent, No Heart. ;)
