Matty Ice Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I apologize if this has already been addressed. I live in Rochester. If I get Center Ice, will the Sabres games be blacked out?
waldo Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I apologize if this has already been addressed. I live in Rochester. If I get Center Ice, will the Sabres games be blacked out? you will see it. .and if time warner had any class they would broadcast sabres games off of their center ice program feed free of charge in blacked out areas.
Eleven Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 you will see it. .and if time warner had any class they would broadcast sabres games off of their center ice program feed free of charge in blacked out areas. I'll bet they can't. I think they would do that in a second if they could.
johnyvegas Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 you will see it. .and if time warner had any class they would broadcast sabres games off of their center ice program feed free of charge in blacked out areas. Time Warner guy told me no. I wont get the games. Just sayin. Anyone with Center Ice in Buff/Roch/Syr that can can confirm or deny?

I'm told that as long as you are in the Sabres market you are blacked out. Question is are Rachacha'ns in Buffalo market?
shrader Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I'm told that as long as you are in the Sabres market you are blacked out. Question is are Rachacha'ns in Buffalo market? It's very directly stated in the webpage for center ice: "If you are located in a team's television territory and their local regional sports network is not available on your current cable or satellite provider, you will not be able to see these games in NHL CENTER ICE. This is a distribution issue between the regional sports network and the cable/satellite provider. The blackout remains intact as the local regional sports network has the rights to these games in your area."
wallybarthman Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 If you're anywhere in the Sabres local broadcast area you will get blacked out of NHL Center Ice broadcasts - end of story. An easy way to find out is to go to DirecTV's RSN finder: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=3450006 If your zip code comes up with the Sabres as a team you'd get then you're in-market and NHL Center Ice is a no go. Safe to say - if you lost access to MSG because of Time Warner/MSG dispute you're in market and won't be able to utilize NHL Center Ice. Time Warner can't do a thing about this either.
Two or less Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I'm told that as long as you are in the Sabres market you are blacked out. Question is are Rachacha'ns in Buffalo market? It's blacked out in Rochester. NHL rules. Nothing Sabres or TWC can do about that.

johnyvegas Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 just spent an hour on the phone with FIOS. and while Syracuse is technically in the sabres market, FIOS has only one MSG HD channel and they have the Knicks game on tomorrow night here. Seems that in FIOS's eyes, I'm in the NYC market. In short, I'm hosed. Just one more reason is sux to be stuck in 'cuse.
Matty Ice Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Thanks for the feedback! I guess I am going to have to go to Direct TV. Rochestarians are screwed by TWC yet again. They are the closest thing to a monopoly I have seen.

Who Else? Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 just spent an hour on the phone with FIOS. and while Syracuse is technically in the sabres market, FIOS has only one MSG HD channel and they have the Knicks game on tomorrow night here. Seems that in FIOS's eyes, I'm in the NYC market. In short, I'm hosed. Just one more reason is sux to be stuck in 'cuse. I live in a dual market too. In Erie, I'm in the Penguins local market. I tried to use this to my advantage when I had Dish. I called people from CI and NHL.com and told them it was Pittsburgh's market. I confused them a bit and I think if I were persistant Enough I may have gotten an exemption from NHL.Com's Gamecenter. Instead I just gave up and got Direct Tv which hasn't disappointed yet.(except the DVR)
SportsFan88 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 It's interesting that on Center Ice they show Devils, Islanders and Rangers games. Especially where I live. I live 3 hours from Buffalo and 4 hours from NYC, yet they claim i'm in the Buffalo market but not NYC.
korab rules Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 As an update - it turns out the upgraded Verizon DSL is not available in my area, so I have decided to keep internet with Time Warner - they will reduce my fee to $35.00 for basic roadrunner - 10 mbps down, 1 mbps up. I also just got another $5.00/month off my bill - I told Directv I had paid for center ice on Time Warner, and wanted directv to give it to me free - they said they couldn't do that, but gave me a $120.00 credit (the current prorated amount for center ice) at the rate of $5.00/month - regardless of whether I actually sign up for center ice again. I would recommend anyone signing up for directv make this same claim whether it is true or not - they can't tell who had center ice with time warner - don't ask how I know.
BuffalOhio Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Korab you're killing me! Use my account number people! Save both of us some money!!!

waldo Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 These are the same knuckleheads that Cuomo wants to hand a billion dollars to? :wallbash: Who would have guessed?
SabresHD Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 I've seen posts on other sites about this for days, like Time Warner Conversations, now there is an official boycott of MSG http://twitter.com/#!/dropMSG
SportsFan88 Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 One thing....how many people in NYC have TWC anyway, don't the majority of people in that area have Cablevision?
