deluca67 Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 There is a meeting of the minds coming at the Arena on Tuesday. Let's see what happens............ You can't leave that just hanging out there.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 You can't leave that just hanging out there. Haha! It's getting a little juicy out there. At the very least this is Black putting Darcy on notice he needs to do something, but this is a diplomatic change in tone expressing some urgency. http://www.wgrz.com/video/default.aspx?bctid=1358854315001

That is something you don't see/hear too often in sports.

LGR4GM Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 hope is rekindled If I had to hazard a guess it would be that a trade is what they are looking for first but maybe just maybe black notices DR lack of motivation to change up the core.

I heard that as Darcy has the freedom to do something, but that Black/Pegula are going to look at some hard decisions. And I think that means Ruff may be in trouble.
apuszczalowski Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 funny, i didnt get any of that from Blacks comments all i got from that interview is that they are aware the team has problems and we are going to get together to discuss them. then he says Darcy is free to make moves whenever he finds them, and throws in the old injury excuse (although he seemed to soften on using that as a full excuse). Sounds like the meeting this week will be to decide if they are buyers or sellers this season

Eleven Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Of course you do. I would think you would be happy with my interpretation. Wait, is happiness a possibility for you? ;)

"We're at a cross-roads right now..." "We need to make some hard decisions in the next few days and weeks ahead..." Oh. My. God. Finally, something to possibly, maybe, hang a very light, foo-foo hat on.

G-Daddy Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Interesting, but let's see what, if anything, comes of these comments.
nfreeman Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 I'll ask this a second time and its more out of curiosity than anything else really: Would people rather gives Boyes an extension for a 2-3 years Land ditch stafford? I think thats the only way drew goes bye bye. I'll hang up and listen. I'm not opposed to keeping Boyes but I am vehemently opposed to paying him more than $1.75MM or so per year. They already have way too many overpriced mediocrities. They need to keep as much cal space as possible to bring on some elite level talent.
thesportsbuff Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012

And there HAS to be a rational explanation for Kassian, right? Soreness? Some minor, nagging thing from Saturday that the team doesn't want to disclose? He pissed on Ted Black's wife or got into a fight with a teammate? I mean, SOMETHING?! I don't think Ruff would just bench him without cause at this point. Not for a second.
Well according to Paul Hamilton, Kassian hasn't been doing ANY good the last several games and isn't as valuable to the Sabres line up as what Cody brings. (Had a little twitter argument with him lol)

I would guess we are talking 3mil if we seriously wanted to resign him although 2 would be ideal. I agree though there is too much mediocrity in the talent department on this team.
Well according to Paul Hamilton, Kassian hasn't been doing ANY good the last several games and isn't as valuable to the Sabres line up as what Cody brings. (Had a little twitter argument with him lol) He said that? Or Someone told him that (like Ruff) and he agrees? If its the 2nd one OMFG! Fire EVERYONE! Kassian has been one if the best players IMHO and if no one can realize that on this team than FIRE ALL OF THEM!

I adore him but he needs to be better for a full time slot.

spndnchz Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 Where did your avatar go? I'm a girl penalized for having a brain. Might as well go with sackless Timmay.
thesportsbuff Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Name me one thing Kass has done the past ten games. I adore him but he needs to be better for a full time slot. Kassian has set up several scoring chances, and his size and strength along the boards alone is enough to keep him in the lineup over an undersized "enforcer" who will play 5 or 6 minutes. We haven't had someone who controls the puck along the boards like Kassian since at least pre-lockout. Maybe if he was playing with goal scorers instead of Matt Ellis and Paul Gaustad some of that possession would translate into goals.
bunomatic Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 My greatest fear is Regier trades a couple promising young guys and leaves the core intact. I fully believe until I see otherwise that Pegula and Black willfully drank the kool-aid Darcy was serving and they wholeheartedly bought in. Until Blacks recent comments I thought that his and Pegulas support was entrenched but now I'm not sure. I'd feel better if he mentioned underachieving stars or poor coaching. He kind of leaves it open. If its trades, some of that remaining core have to move to see a sea change of attitude and philosophy for the sabres.IMO.

Weave Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Kassian hasn't had points in a few games IIRC but he seems to have a knack for putting the puck into dangerous areas in the O zone (in a good way), and noone on the team can protect a puck along the wall the way Kassian does. IMO he absolutely needs to play and learn on the job. I see no benefit to benching him and playing no talents like Ellis and Kaleta. This kid is our future. Don't ###### with his head. Let him play and learn. And for ###### sake, put him with linemates that will help him develop his game.

Maybe if he was playing with goal scorers instead of Matt Ellis and Paul Gaustad some of that possession would translate into goals. At one point he did. Now he just controls the puck and ends up backiing up to the blueline and tossing it back down low. You confuse his first 6 games with his last ten. Lindy started giving him more ice time and he sqwandered it. You keep him up to make his mistakes and learn or you give him back to Rachacha.
bunomatic Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 I still feel in time Kassian will be a beast and I'm hoping its in a sabres jersey. I'd hate to see the likes of him dealt. I don't think he's the problem but I see other teams seeing him as the solution. Now or in the future. I hate the thought of DR being the guy to make that decision. Especially if he's done at years end anyways.
