What happens when Myers returns?

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I think the current pairings:

Ehrhoff-McNabb

Sekera-Regehr

Leopold-Weber

provide the type of balance that has been missing from the team since the start of the year.

Darcy has to make a move when Myers comes back, not necessarily because McNabb and Weber are so much better than Gragnani or Leopold or Sekera (and I have liked McNabb's play)

but because we can't afford to get soft again on the back end.

Looking at marketability and what we can afford to lose, the most likely trade is Sekera, who has played well this year in my estimation.

He needs to be packaged with a good forward to obtain a better centre. Myers slides in nicely with Regehr on a top pairing and Grags continues as the number seven guy.

This is where Darcy needs to earn his keep.

Well, all this defensive depth could help us make the mid season deal everyone has been begging for. Just show gragnanis stats from last years playoffs and someone will be interested. Or hype up the toughness and size of weber and his value goes up. Could be the deciding factor to get us a legitimate center.

What specifically don't you like about Sekera?

I dont like the way he plays defense at all, he backs away from the forward doesnt take the body at all in fact I find he avoids all contact in front of the net and in my opinion he throws the puck around in the defensive zone with no respect for his defensive responsibilities. He can skate the puck out better than most but his passes seem like theyre always a foot off target.. I just dont care for him.

I think you need more dumb quotes in your sig. Mate.

Other than a meaningless remark explain to me how the quotes are dumb. Go on.

Anyway, I may have finally had it, we have to change something. I'd listen to offers on Roy, Sekera, MAG, Boyes, Ennis and a few of the lesser prospects and shop Stafford, Ellis, Mccormick, Leopold. Everyone here knows my feelings on Regier, but if/when he does get replaced add an assistant to. Ruff gets till the end of the season before my opinion changes.

I agree with alot of that but my problem stems from the fact that he seems to be billed as an offensive D, or at least two-way, but as you say he doesn't really seem to play either game properly.

Here are the Top 10 highest-paid blue lines via the cap, with numbers via NHL Numbers (what, no Cap Geek?): Team Defense Payroll (Cap, Millions) Goals Against Avg. EDIT: also of interest: It's not an exact science: The Buffalo Sabres have the highest paid forwards in the NHL ($40.834 million) and the fifth-worst offense (2.31). :wallbash:
