Oh, Ellis. Love your work ethic. If only you had an ounce of skill...

Great work by Ellis, but then it looked like he'd taken shooting tips from Stafford.

Alright, treading water here. i Thought we came out with some intensity, but it went down after that first penalty. Miller is a man possessed tonight, he's going to have to be. Time for the big guns to step it up. Liked the back checking by guys like Ellis, Pominville.

As per usual, Roy and Stafford need to pick it up. Bad decisions with the puck, not going hard after loose pucks.

Fun period to watch. The Leafs' problem is Miller, the Sabres' problem is the Sabres' forwards. Miller is very "on" tonight so far. Lot's of action, though, which is nice to see. I'm liking Whitmore's game, as far as that goes.

I wonder what the plan is for the second - will Lindy try and get them to slow it down?

Just when you think Miller has lost it for good - he puts together a period like that and reminds you of why he can be one of the best in the league.

The Miller who played in Pittsburgh would have let five goals in during this period.

So, I wonder what "words of wisdom" Kassian had for Phaneuf. Anybody else have the feeling Kassian keeps pressing the issue as the game wears on?

GO SABRES!!!

I certainly hope so! It's about time this team had a player like him. Just hope the "others" do not rub off on him!

I have a man crush on Kassian. I hope he gets under Phaneuf's skin in the second and third.

I heard this morning that Justin Bieber was skating with the Leafs. Just great, they add another forward tougher than what the Sabres have.

I've been waiting all day to post that. :w00t:

Or did you mean Roy as one of the "others". Man the beer is working well tonight!

why notttt?????

Cause I'm superstitious AND because you don't want to tempt the hockey gods any more than they're already tempted.

It doesn't work in reverse though. No matter how much we talk about how much Prince Nonchalant sucks, he continues to suck. The hockey gods are fickle like that.

GO SABRES!!!

negative... jamie macoun from calgary slash to the face... the thing i loved about the sabres back in those days was that the next time calgary came to the aud, which was the next season i think, the sabres went ape sh*t on macoun and the rest of the flames. never would see that with this crew

I think it was Stan Smyl in Winnipeg

So it turns out we were both wrong from this link: http://articles.dailypress.com/1992-10-05/sports/9210050143_1_st-louis-hull-real-thing-rules

Early last season, Calgary's Jamie Macoun poleaxed Buffalo's Pat LaFontaine with a high stick. The slash broke LaFontaine's jaw, knocked out several teeth and severed a facial artery. LaFontaine, whom the Sabres had just traded four players to acquire and whom they planned to build the franchise around, did not play for a month. Macoun received no suspension because league officials said - with straight faces - that they could not tell if he was trying to injure LaFontaine by striking him in the face with his stick.

Sound familiar? LOL
