  1. 1. You get to decide what the Sabres should do within the next 2 weeks to right the ship. What's the FIRST step you take, sometime in the next 2 weeks? (NB you can take other steps later.)

    • Do nothing yet -- wait and see how the team does when they get healthy.
      14
    • Fire Lindy
      13
    • Fire Darcy
      27
    • Fire both Lindy and Darcy
      28
    • Trade Roy
      40
    • Trade Stafford
      52
    • Trade Pommer
      8
    • Trade Miller
      12
    • Trade a forward not named above or a defenseman
      13
    • Trade more than 1 player
      31
    • Healthy-scratch 1 or more regulars for several games

It wouldn't be unrealistic to go after Getzlaf right now.

i found this twitter-tivity to be interesting

BNHarrington Mike Harrington Given his past there and his continued trading with them, don't you trust Burke to make the big splash with Ducks for Leafs over Darcy?

darcy has to land one of those ducks. Losing a getzlaf or a Ryan to a division rival would be a killer

So every year the #1 pick is on par with Lemieux and Crosby? Did you even read past the first sentence of my previous post?

Two words: Alexander Daigle.

Limey, since you're across the pond, a question: What do you think Alex Ferguson's record would be like if he were living with Norwich City's budget and players?

That's Sir Alex ...

I will answer for my Limey friend ... absolutely not.

I'll call him Sir Alex when he starts calling me Lord Awesomeness of Eleventon.

By "absolutely not," you mean his record wouldn't be anything close to what it is, right?

Lindy disagrees....he pretty much just said he's going to ride Miller into the ground again.

Is that what he really said? Even "pretty much?"

Yeah Miller hasn't played his best games down here in the past. Plus starting Enroth allows Drunkard to get plastered on PBR before the game.

It's all good. Milwaukee's Best Ice has 5.9% alcohol by volume to PBR's 5.0% so I should be able to build my buzz up quicker that way. What I really need to do is find my old beer bong though so I can be drunk before face off instead of first intermission.

Unless you have had a private meeting with him I'd love to know where you've heard that. I haven't read or heard that anywhere.

The jist of it was that he wants to get Ryan going again and as long as he's not tired he's going to play him. Lindy thinks it might get him going.

I guess if your star goalie is slumping this is his angle. I guess there's arguments both sides but I think I agree. Maybe Ryan is use to a lot of work, keeping himself in the 'zone' from game to game and too much back and forth between goalies slows his mojo.

At this point, what would it hurt to try to get him going in this manner? Giving him less work didn't seem to be working, right? I agree, throw him between the pipes to get him in a groove.

Ok, fair play. but as Chz has already said there is a difference between 'ride him into the ground' and 'play him till his tired to get him on a run'. Big difference.

"What’s behind him is behind him. He’s gotta put together the best 40 games he’s ever put together.”

What does that sound like to you?

What is Lindy's track record?

What happened last year at the midpoint when the team sucked?

Let's just see if he gets in a groove, sneaks into the playoffs, and loses 12 lbs. in the process per usual.

Ryan went something like 21-10-6 after January 1st last year.

You're a betting man. Odds say if we go 25-12-6 there is no chance we miss the playoffs.

No?

I said, hopefully he finds his groove as he is worked like a dog and makes it to the playoffs like last year.

The point being, it sounds like Lindy is going to work him over again, so at least maybe you get to the playoffs. Miller will be worse off for it, but like last year Lindy is desperate and needs to ride him i guess.

it no more games than everyone said he would have. And no more games than we thought Enroth should get (about 25)

Worse off when missing the playoffs? Maybe he will be burned out, sure, but I'd think Miller would rather get to the playoffs and be burned out than not make the playoffs because he was too worried about being tired once there.

Come'on. If he plays 37 out of the next 42, that is a 73 game pace and he is getting run down 3 months going into the playoffs.

Same script as last year setting up....that is, if the Sabres can go on a torrid run.

If your goal is to win a Stanley Cup, Miller cannot handle that type of workload and still be efficient in the playoffs. If we have 42 games left, Miller should get 30ish and Enroth 12 if you want to pace him. If you don't trust Enroth, get another goalie in here. Look what Biron is doing in NY.

Pace, schmase. He'll be around 60 games for the year. I hardly think Miller is tired right now. He played 66 and 69 the last two years. 60 is a piece of cake.

And Biron's played 10 freakin games. Nice sample size.
