Bmwolf21 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I'd be ok with that! For the record, that is the move I would like to see. Then the new guy isn't married to the head coach or "The Core" and change can start.
Figster Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I want Big Tyler Myers back in the lineup...
beerme1 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I would have said Weber was watching the puck and not the man. I thought he had plenty of time to tie him up. I agree with this. Weber had lots of time to wrap the guy up. Sorry though, if Weber made a couple mistakes Grags would have made 10. I'll take Weber. I think he will recognize that he let a guy go and make an effort to improve. if it was Grags all I could say is well, he will try to breathe. Weber should have buried the guy on the goal plain and simple no excuses.
waldo Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I want Big Tyler Myers back in the lineup... you must like pain Perhaps we could at least make Gragnani walk the plank :D We will need a boat?

Not to make an excuse for Weber but he was out there forever before that sequence, and he was all over the ice. If you lookat the replay you can see in his face.
darksabre Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 "What moves the Greek warrior to deeds of heroism is not a sense of duty as we understand it-duty towards others: it is rather duty towards himself. He strives after that which we translate 'virtue' but is in Greek aretê, 'excellence'..." "Thus the hero of the Odyssey is a great fighter, a wily schemer, a ready speaker, a man of stout heart and broad wisdom who knows that he must endure without too much complaining what the gods send; and he can both build and sail a boat, drive a furrow as straight as anyone, beat a young braggart at throwing the discus, challenge the Pheacian youth at boxing, wrestling or running; flay, skin, cut up and cook an ox, and be moved to tears by a song. He is in fact an excellent all-rounder; he has surpassing aretê."

qwksndmonster Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Glad I didn't get to see too much of this one, as it was never too exciting in the parts I did get to watch. Matt Ellis is the antithesis of Stafford and Roy: No skill and great effort. I'd rather watch him play any day of the week. EDIT: I was disappointed when I saw that Roy was centering the top line. I was disgusted when they were the worst line on the team. Rookies and AHLers do a better job centering our top line than our "best" center does. It just gets easier and easier to pile on Roy and Stafford.
Cereal Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 If you are intent on making moves, then the only move you make is #2 - replace Darcy. You let the new GM come in and start moving players and let him decide on who should be behind the bench. (You could give him orders to find a new coach but let him be involved with the process of identifying and hiring.) I don't usually like to get involved with re-hashing the same old you-know-what, but this post just reminded me of exactly what should have happened between February and July 1... :censored: it's like frick'n de ja vu all over again. It would have been ideal to try to go clean-slate once Pegs took the reigns. That said, I am still on the "be patient" team. I am still willing to give Lindy the benefit of doubt based on injuries (yes I have read all the previous arguments against this, and they're valid!), but what really keeps me patient is what a couple people have said upthread: that Pegs promised the cup and he'll do what it takes to get it. I don't think he's afraid to hurt anyone's feelings by giving them the axe. Hopefully Teddy Black has some balls to stir things up. (Disclaimer: I haven't actually seen many of the games this month, so it might be easier for me to stay positive :D )
Marine0369 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 anyone else out there feel like they know what is missing but cant quite say what it is? seriously, we all know that we have actual skilled players. we have guys that specialize in the pp and pk. we have a solid goaltending duo. its like having all the pieces to the puzzle but putting them in the wrong order. wrong guys in situations. we even have what i feel most teams dont. a junior core in roch that has played to the caliber of nhl level imho. i agree stafford and grags need to be traded, the rest of our problems lies in the management/coaching. any thoughts?
Andrew Amerk Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Congrats to Whitmore on joining Gionta & Callahan as Greece, NY natives in the NHL.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 We lost this game because of Weber. His mistake before the 2:1 costs us the game. Yeah he plays hard, but dumb. MAG: 30 games +11 Weber: 7 games -8 MAG also do some stupid mistakes, but when he is on the ice we seem to score more than we let in. This is something. And the new mixed lines looked terrible. I can not understand why the coaching staff has to mix also the working lines all the time. This needs to to change. I hope TPeg uses the emergency break in time.
UncleWally Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 No one can put the blame on Miller for this one.
JJFIVEOH Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Not a huge fan of the anthem singer. Why, because he wasn't on American Idol? That dude rocked! anyone else out there feel like they know what is missing but cant quite say what it is? seriously, we all know that we have actual skilled players. we have guys that specialize in the pp and pk. we have a solid goaltending duo. its like having all the pieces to the puzzle but putting them in the wrong order. wrong guys in situations. we even have what i feel most teams dont. a junior core in roch that has played to the caliber of nhl level imho. i agree stafford and grags need to be traded, the rest of our problems lies in the management/coaching. any thoughts? A stale "system" and players who are improperly utilized.
neverenough Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 This is the worse sabres team ive seen in years. They cant pass, cant hit, cant stick up for themselfs, high paid players doin nothing, there offense of play is like waxing a floor with no ear buds. I hope one day terry p turns into a owner and not a fan because this team is going up in flames...Its hard to watch, it really is. :censored: :wallbash: :censored: :wallbash: :censored: :wallbash: :censored:

Ross Rhea Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Congrats to Whitmore on joining Gionta & Callahan as Greece, NY natives in the NHL. Absolutely :) I know Callahan went to Hilton, didn't know he lived in Greece.
kishoph Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Vanek doesn't get a shot on goal last night, does Roy being the center on that line have something to do with that ? :wallbash: Why Adam is not centering Vanek and Pommers is beyond me. As far as the Goose penalty, I didn't see it but I heard the TSN feed showed him smashing the Sens player (not Neil) in the face. A "core" veteran does not take that penalty with his team down by 1 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. Goose got away with one in the 1st checking Winchester into the boards from behind causing a concussion. That will probably be looked by Shannahan, I don't think he'll do anything but I'm pretty sure he'll be looking at it.

Is the idea supposed to be that if Gragnani played last night the Sabres would have won? I just don't see Gragnani as that type of difference maker. I want Big Tyler Myers back in the lineup... The Tyler Myers of three years ago would be even better. Myers of this season was no better than any other d-man they have been suiting up.
dEnnis the Menace Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Fire Lindy and replace with Randy Carlyle. Fire Darcy and get a GM in here worth his salt...Craig Button comes to mind. Trade the deadwood - Roy and Stafford would be a nice start... If we don't do anything in the next 3 weeks, then kiss off this season....Maybe we don't have to do all 3 things I listed, but one of my suggestions may help... Can't make moves due to the holiday roster freeze now in effect. I think it runs thru New Years, but Chz, or someone more knowledgeable than me will have to confirm. so it will be 2 - 3 weeks before any moves can be made.

dEnnis the Menace Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 freeze through 12/27 well then, I stand corrected. thanks. so no moves can be made for a week. after that, I would love to see SOMETHING done. Hopefully Thursday will bring a round of healthy back to the roster with Boyes and Kaleta due back. Those two will be aboost I think.

I do not agree even when he was not at the top of his game his reach in his own end and his skill to get the puck up ice were still better then most of our d the Sabres miss this guy more then we all know.
