Weave Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 When is the holiday freeze? Already here.
lalalalalaFontaine Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I'm seriously in shock as to how this team has been performing this entire season though far. Something needs to change and some members of this organization need to get slapped and told to wake up. We as fans deserve better from both of our organizations. lindy and marcy and ted black can beg for patience but this team wasn't playing well when they were winning in the beginning of the season when they HAD their regulars in there
dEnnis the Menace Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Miller has no rebound control, so much for an all world goalie. Look at Anderson. We might want to get him I was actually just discussing this with my Sens friend. He was surprised with Anderson actually. Says he's very inconsistant as well
dEnnis the Menace Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Already here. Goes until after New Years right?
wallybarthman Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I didnt mind the refs until the last five mins. Neil and Goose should've both gotten a penalty, then the no call hook/xcheck on Vanek was BS. I ###### hate chris neil I'm always gripping about the officiating but I've noticed a trend this season in the 3rd period we consistently get double-standarded. No one can actually show where Gaustad did anything wrong and there are two blatant instances of interference (which the new NHL was supposed to cut down upon) and no call (right near the puck so the official intentionally ignored them). The 4th goal was caused by the take down on Vanek and there's no call - that either shows blatant favoritism or both the officials weren't watching the puck. Either way - terrible calls.
sabres1970 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I've been reluctant to get too down on Stafford these past couple weeks (don't know why other than meaningless optimism) but now I'm convinced. This guy and Roy are cancers on this team. No effort. Pitiful defense tonight as well. Weber looked indescribably bad. After a game like this I cannot see how we'd be better even if we were healthy.

... Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Fans must have patience. The Sabres won't lose every game.
wonderbread Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Miller has no rebound control, so much for an all world goalie. Look at Anderson. We might want to get him Anderson played well. Of course Millers cause wasn't helped with the terrible dzone play. Turnovers galore. Pretty sad effort all in all. I'm all for a good shake up. Honestly and I will regret saying it but I hope they get trounced in Toronto.

I dont think it's just against us. I've noticed in a bunch of games that the refs just stop officiating in the last 5 unless its blatantly obvious to the point where they cannot ignore it.

I should add - bad officiating is no excuse for a terrible penalty kill on the 3rd goal which left Miller completely out to dry and sloppy play by Weber on the second goal.
Bmwolf21 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I'm not sure when the freeze ends. I thought it was Dec 27th. EDIT: according to Spector's site it runs from Dec 19 to Dec 27. http://spectorshockey.net/wordpress/
Iron Crotch Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I've been reluctant to get too down on Stafford these past couple weeks (don't know why other than meaningless optimism) but now I'm convinced. Yeah, amidst all of the bitching about Roy, Stafford, (insert player name here),... were two brutal giveaways by the Weber & Leo pairing that directly led to the first two Ottawa goals.
wallybarthman Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I dont think it's just against us. I've noticed in a bunch of games that the refs just stop officiating in the last 5 unless its blatantly obvious to the point where they cannot ignore it. I'm actually ok with that - but the Gaustad call seemed to go against that philosophy and then the non-call on Vanek which led to a turnover both seem to fit the "blatant" category. Granted the game was to of hand, but the two calls late in the 3rd in Pittsburgh were terrible or marginal calls at best.
Marvelo Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Stafford and Gaustad...very little hockey sense between these two. Stafford still tries to beat people 1 on 1 -- this isn't juniors; players pick up on tendencies. Gaustad simply has hands of stone. Roy -- unfortunately looks like he hasn't healed from his injury. He used to be reckless, now he's tentative. He also might be too old to be the type of player he's most effective at. At the beginning I thought a line of Foligno-Adam-Kassian would be a good one and I stand by that The 3 goalis in the 3rd weren't Miller's fault. It was just that the Sabres tried to peck at the Sens with forechecking, but they don't have the skill to cash in.
Samson's Flow Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I'm not sure when the freeze ends. I think it lasts until the day after christmas (12/27/11)
Tyrannustyrannus Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 this team is way too comfortable with losing. They need to feel like their jobs are on the line. Pegula saying things like "he aint going nowhere" certainly didn't help.
K-9 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 You know, I believe that for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows. Just thought I'd throw that out there. GO SABRES!!!
sabres1970 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I don't want to hear excuse about injuries or penalties. Yeah, the Gaustad one wasn't a call I'd make but he still needs to know, as a veteran, that at that stage of the game you need to be cautious. I can't stress enough my anger at the following players: -Stafford -Roy -Weber -Gaustad If it were guys like Whitmore, Foligno, Kassian,Adam making these kinds of mistakes I'd day fine. They're young, they're not supposed to be up yet. But the fact that it's guys like Roy, Stafford and Gaustad killing is night in and night out is mind numbing. Break up this chemistry, because it ain't working.
wonderbread Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I think it lasts until the day after christmas (12/27/11) Wouldnt that be the 26th?
Tyrannustyrannus Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Fans must have patience. The Sabres won't lose every game. yeah, just 4 of 5

Stupid injured players, Yup, we do deserve better

This game was not handed to the Sens by the refs. Yes, the refs were not very good, but we'd have lost anyway. This team needs to learn how to intimidate... That's not going to happen with the likes of Roy, Pominville, Stafford or Vanek.
... Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 Lots of negativity in this thread. This makes "The Core" sad.
