Sabre Dance Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Beats me - in fact Kassian went face-first into the top of the boards - Rinaldo kind of hits sideways. Still worth a suspension, though.....
FolignosJock Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 It wasnt bad at all it was def shoulder to shoulder... How phaneuf doesnt get anything for a much worse hit is beyond me. I might be converting to a shanny hater now but just when i thought consistency was being formed it is now gone. Rinaldo said the hit was clean as well it just looked worse than it was but he definately got him in the shoulder.
korab rules Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 HTF is this different than Kassian getting railed by Phaneuf? http://video.nhl.com...tid=0&id=143408 Lucic gets one game. Phaneuf plays for the leafs, and hit a Sabre. I think Lucic hits Rinaldo a good bit harder than Phaneuf hit Kassian, and Rinaldo had his back to Lucic from the moment Lucic started moving toward him. On the other side of the ledger, Rinaldo deserves to be boarded at least once a game. How does Shanny arrive at these decisions? At one point here was a flow chart that explained the decision making process. I think the chart still applies.
biodork Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Update this with Shanahan's name and it's all set: Down Goes Brown: The NHL's top secret flow chart for handing out suspensions Ha -- someone already updated the NHL Wheel of Justice!
rickshaw Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Gotta wonder how Phaneuf didn't get suspended for his hit on Kassian. IMO his hit was way worse than Phaneuf's. I too am confused by the criteria. Last week Chris Neil elbowed Alex Burrows in the chops. No call, no suspension after a clear elbow to the head. Head scratching to say the least.

Maybe Shim&Sham is incapable of being neutral, and factors in his personal opinions of what teams and players he likes and dislikes.

That god damned Phaneuf's hit was worse than Phaneuf's hit! I am getting fed up with officiating and suspensions in general. Everything is subjective and there is no consistency.
rickshaw Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Strange. You blast a guy face first into the glass, cut ting him in the process and nothing. You get another where the hittee says it was clean and you get a game. Odd. The NHL clearly makes stuff up on the fly. No goal '99 for example.
