deluca67 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 No excuse for tonight's performance which will be followed by no accountability. Sitting Mcnabb is just another example of poor coaching by Lindy Ruff. The 60 minutes this team played tonight is another example of of poor coaching. Maybe another closed door meeting is needed? Should it really take another 4-5 months of half efforts in order for there to be a coaching change?
Marvelo Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 That's the first time I've seen Paul Gaustad do something productive on the ice in months. The guy usually plays like he's got a stick with no blade. Gaustad, along with Ellis and several others, are part of Lindy's loyal"No Talent Brigade".
nfreeman Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 2 things I really don't want to see again: 1. Miller starting on back to back nights. I think that was the worst game I've ever seen from him. 2. Proposed trades for Malkin relying on the assumption that Pittsburgh will trade him because "they have too many centers." That was a disgrace.
Who Else? Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Gaustad, along with Ellis and several others, are part of Lindy's loyal"No Talent Brigade". You cant pick on Gaustad here. He is part of the core and he leads the league in times thrown out of the faceoff circle.
sabres1970 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Wow Lindy sounds soft right now. Acting as though they just lost in a close game. HEY LINDY! You just let up 8 goals! That doesn't get you ticked off???!!!
JJFIVEOH Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I'm getting so sick and tired of hearing the excuses! Oh they're tired, oh they played a fast game last night, oh we need bodies, oh we played back to back games................ what a bunch of BS!!!!! The call-ups are playing better than the vets, BFLO's not the ONLY team in the league with injuries, Pitts played a game last night. BFLO has one of the youngest teams in the league, nobody outside Hecht is over 31 years old. Half the guys are under 25. Listening to these interviews is so frustrating, it's the same garbage every single night like a broken record.

Besides Myers and Gerbe, what injured sabre can you honestly say would change the course of this team pending his return? The Peguins have the best player in the league hurt, and yet they still murder us and put up 8 goals. This team was flat out unprepared to play tonight, and that's on Ruff. Miller should not have started this game, no reason for the benching of McNabb. The problem is not talent, it's coaching. I've defended Lindy for years now, no longer. In all seriousness, I want him fired tonight.

It is amazing how the Ruff apologists act as if this team doesn't routinely pull the no-shows even when 100% healthy. Tonight was another Lindy Special. Efforts like tonight are what Lind Ruff teams are all about.
SwampD Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Regehr actually used the term "status quo"
SarasotaSabre Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I wonder if BuffaloATL is taking in Roy's brilliant D. And his offense, too. Losing Ennis is no loss. Anyway, so, yeah, as I said after yesterday's meltdown layover, this team's issues have been on full display all year like a flamer during a gay pride parade in San Francisco. One win doesn't mean we should suddenly think those problems aren't as bad as they are. yeah, color me unimpressed with Roy's brilliant D - saw him wave at Malkin and get called out by Rayzor....
Lumpy Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Fire the Coach, and then the GM, and move some players. Not complicated. Seems like you can find someone to write your hagiography is you have a billion dollars. But maybe - just maybe - Terry Pegula isn't as smart as we give him credit for. This team is a million miles from winning a cup, and is a bunch of cupcakes playing boring hockey. Good job Brownie.
Marine0369 Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I miss Myers. why??????? not like hes having a banner year. i cant wait til we win the cup in the next 3 years  Since I love to bag on Pommer, here goes... Shouldn't the captain of our beloved Sabres be the kind of player who can put the team on his back and say "follow me boys?" Shouldn't the captain be the kind of player who gives maximum effort game in and game out? A "heart and soul" type of player? Seems to me this team has a leadership void and I can't help but question the leadership coming from our nice guy captain. I know he's having a great year statistically, but should he really be wearing the C? careful..... he gets an assist when vanek bats in one of his horrible shots so he deserves the C. actually i agree with you. take his C away, give it to sabertooth cause he inspires the team and fans more, then put his a$$ on the third line like he would be with other teams (pens)
inkman Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Wrong thread. That thought passed through my head. On a side note, I think all companies should use strippers in commercials.
SwampD Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 That thought passed through my head. On a side note, I think all companies should use strippers in commercials. I've got some steel they can handle,.. and they'll pay me for it?
Marvelo Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I'm seriously starting to think that small players are going the way of the dinosaur.
Derrico Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 I don't disagree with the fire Ruff discussion. However, if anyone thinks that starting Enroth over Miller or MAG over McNabb would have made a difference, I must disagree. McNabb got less than 7 min of ice time last game (didn't make a difference) and Enroth was just as poor as Miller tonight. Saying that, the Regier / Ruff project has gone on for too long now.
Punch Posted December 18, 2011 Report Posted December 18, 2011 Pegula speaks: "We saw some great goaltending tonight, didn't we? If they [as a team] think they played well, we’ve got more problems." According to the Buffalo News' John Vogl. https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/BuffNewsVogl

I'd even give him the benefit of the doubt now if the team looked good but might lose some games because of new players getting used to the "system" as well as the injuries. But you're right. While Myers and Gerbe are missed, the CORE of this team is not injured. Roy, Pominville, Stafford, Gaustad, Miller, Vanek all played tonight. And most of them have played the majority (if not all) games this year. I can't place any blame on Vanek, he's been busting his azz. Even Pominville, as good as his numbers are, has been unimpressive. I consider them lucky to have won some of the game they have this year. In reality with the way they've played they are very fortunate to be where they are in the standings. This team has talent and the "system" isn't working any more. All the players on this team have their strengths and weaknesses. Instead of forcing them to play Lindy's "system" these players need to be utilized based on what they are best at.

Call-up Colin Stuart out at least a month (lower body)" The Sabres will need a farm team for the farm team if their call-ups keep getting hurt. Also, some words from Terry Pegula: Sabres owner Terry Pegula following an 8-3 loss to his home-state Penguins: "We saw some great goaltending tonight, didn’t we?" and More from Sabres owner Terry Pegula: "If they [as a team] think they played well, we’ve got more problems."

As for the rest of the game, it's the players, not the coach. (Montreal is going to be a Cup contender now?) SDS started a whole thread for you to advance your platform; use it. As for the rest of the game, wow. What the ######.

Very interesting. Do we know who was interviewing Pegula or the context of the 'If they think they played well' comment? The beauty of Pegula is that I think he is an involved owner and these are the first words saying he will step in if necessary.

From what i heard on WGR, Paul Hamilton supposedly over heard Pegula say this near the Sabres locker room entrance.

All the players on this team have their strengths and weaknesses. Instead of forcing them to play Lindy's "system" these players need to be utilized based on what they are best at. Let's face facts. The Sabres are a .500 club at best. They are in the same category as Ottawa, Long Island, and Colorado. Teams like Philly, Pittsburgh, and San Jose are in a higher category. And teams like Detroit, Boston, and Chicago are in a category even higher than that. So the bottom line is that we are very far away from being a contender. We need to get to the next level before we can begin to consider ourselves to be making a serious run at the Cup. And even then we are still another category away. Just telling it like it is.
Eleven Posted December 18, 2011 Author Report Posted December 18, 2011 A third of the team is used to wearing red, white, and blue. That doesn't explain the void between the pipes, though.

For all I know, Vogl could've just run into him in the elevator and grabbed some quick quotes. We'll have to wait to find out if it was a proper interview. EDIT: Nevermind, I see another poster mentioned Paul Hamilton overhearing it.
