“The last thing [the player in sweater No. 10] said to Jake was, ‘What are you going to do now, tough guy, hit me with a shoe?!’ ’’ said Milbury. “Thank you, YouTube.’’

1. Sounds like Mike was more insulted than Jake.

2. "Thank you, YouTube?" No, Mike; you're the one who hit the fan with the shoe. YouTube didn't do it; you did. If you didn't want the reputation, you shouldn't have hit the fan with the shoe.

3. "The sins of the father..."

When I first read the thread title I assumed the 'milbury' in question was our friendly leafs poster of the same name.

Appears evident you refer to me. Sorry way over the top for me. I enjoy fun like everyone else but this to far. I a very serious man when it comes to family clearly such negatives applied to me suggest very little respect at any level. Any of the posters on this site that I have been disrespectful to you have my most sincere apologies.

Thank you all very much I have appreciated the many nice folk i have got to know over the years, short and sweet I will not be back here posting ever again.

The Lords Blessings to you all.

If the moderators are able to remove me from site entirely , please do so.

Thank you

millbank, I think I speak for the majority of the posters here when I say "please don't go". You are a reasoned, even-keeled poster who brings a refreshing perspective from outside Sabres nation. I, for one, look forward to your posts. The board is better with you participating.

You can't tell from the reactions of most of the people who have been on this board for years how well regarded you are around here? Don't let one misguided post run you off.

trying to understand what happened here.

touched made a passing off-hand remark about how he saw the thread title and for a second mis-read it as "millbank" not "milbury." and then put up the "oops" sign.

millbank then apparently took grave offense, announced his intention never to post here again, and asked the admins to scrub his profile.

then wolf, shrader, and swamp chimed in to say "please don't go, millsie."

... i'm trying to figure out what was perceived as offensive about touched's post. i think it might have been found in the word "assumed." but my read of touched's post was just that he made a quick error of name recognition, and was just sharing a goof-up that had occurred only in his mind. there was nothing in the post that suggested that touched was associating milbury's conduct with something millbank would do.

in a word, i think that millbank went off the deep end with that reply. i also think that we'd be better off if millbank stuck around, and, in so doing, assumed the best of this community, not the worst.

I like this post, I dont know if this was the straw that broke the camels back and if there had eben some other things that millbank had taken offense to in the past but this was a gigantic overreaction.

Looking at the rest of his recent posts it looks as if idiots in the leafs GDT started all of this

Since when is breaking up a fight bad judgment?

Sorry, not a daily visitor to site, but since your response was to my post, let me explain what I meant.

Milbury showed bad judgment, in my opinion, by grabbing the wrong kid in breaking up the fight. If he had pulled his own kid away from the altercation and let someone - anyone - else restrain or yell at the other kid, there would be no complaint from anyone about him and therefore no story. Follow me? I agree that breaking up the fight was the right thing to do, but it appears that Milbury's emotions led him to verbally, and possibly physically, confront a kid in defense of his own son and it looked bad to some.

I agree. You can't be too careful nowadays, what with everyone having camera phone, iPhones, etc that have video capabilities. Someone records you grabbing a kid the wrong way, without context you could be in a lot of trouble.

Grabbing the kids to break up the fight aside, if he did verbally confront/assault the other player, regardless of whatever chirping/taunting the kid was doing to his kid during the game or whatever, then Milbury has given us another piece of evidence that he is an idiot.

Shanny ruled it a clean hit . Said the kid should have had his head up.

Besides, the kid is a whiny, visor-wearing Euro who won't drop the gloves and is a cheap-shot artist with the stick. He had it coming.

I agree. Haven't liked Milbury for years but this does touch on how times have changed. When I was a kid Dad sent me to Howie Meekers hockey school and it was largly run by Howies son since Howie was a busy guy with hockey night in Canada at the time but when we kids were lucky enough for the oracle to make his presence felt he'd routinely hit his students over the head with his stick as a form of discipline or to get his point across. This was in view of the parents. Everyone accepted it as normal and most of the Dads probably thought their boys needed toughening up anyways. Funny that. Just sayin.

Millbank,

that was not supposed to be an insult at you at all, just wanted to point out the mis-read of the post title to inject some humor (albeit misguided). I read it and thought "what? no way..." then re-read it and saw milbury instead of milbank and had a good laugh.

I was in no way attempting to disrespect you and if I have I apologize. You are one of the posters I highly respect around here and appreciate having that outside perspective from our northern neighbors. You have never been insulting or trolling in any way, and I would expect that decorum to be returned in favor.

Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Took his toys and went home, did he?

Doesn't surprise me. You wouldn't believe the crap I sometimes see during and after games from hockey parents. Is it really surprising that it's Milbury that did something like this?

Been away for a while and was catching up on my reading on the board.

Not sure what transpired, but I would like to address the bolded and underlined part of your post.

It is not for anyone to judge how Millbank reacted and why. He, from what I know from his posts, is a man of integrity and for whatever reason he took offense to the post by Touched by Boyes. It is not up to any of us to judge that, plain and simple. Now, I am not judgeing your post since that would be me doing the same thing.

I hope Millbank does choose to return, but that is up to him.
