wonderbread Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Someone tell the blond to sit down.
lalalalalaFontaine Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Man Weber looked bad on that goal. that one was all started by gragnani playing d again...!!!
gpsabre Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Can the Sabres put a team away???? It always comes down to a goal.
DumbPuck Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Someone tell the blond to sit down. is that chz?
... Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Fun game. Glad they won. Entertained I was.
wonderbread Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Ehrhoff should have asked Lupul at the end "how's that view?"!
biodork Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Thank God, too close for comfort at the end but great game offensively. Hopefully that jump-starts a bunch of guys who were slumping and gives the boys some confidence.
North Buffalo Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Fun game to watch... very enjoyable. Can't wait for more x border games.
Kelly the Dog Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 They sure don't make it easy. We looked decent but the second period leaf penalty barrage was really the difference.
Knightrider Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 That was a blast! Glad it was on a Friday and the kids got to see it all... Man Kassian is a beast. He and Vanek looked great on the ice together...
waldo Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 not a ton of d but a fun game to watch..Miller played well. he kept them in the game in the first and third...Interesting photo! the frame where Kassian steals the puck and notices Vanek open on the weak side. He looks like a kid discovering the presents under the tree at 5am on Christmas morning.Eyes like saucers. It is good to be that big and still a kid.
deluca67 Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 It's been a while since the Sabres skated with the energy they had tonight. Is it too soon to anoint Kassian and Mcnabb as two new members of the 'New Core', joining Myers? The play Erhoff made on his own glove pass was one of the best/smartest plays I have seen any player make in a long time. Big game and Vanek shows up with a four point night. I'm not sure who it was, it was about the 5 minute mark and the Leafs were beginning to swarm and RJ had just mentioned how the Leafs were putting on the pressure when the Sabre stepped up and finished his check causing a quick turnover and a Sabres clear. It was such s simple play with great results. A couple of questions regarding rules. 1) if the player gets a shot off how can they call a penalty shot. 2) The Sabres cleared the zone and the put hit the goal post and went into the corner and ended up being icing, how is it icing if it hit the post? They sure don't make it easy. We looked decent but the second period leaf penalty barrage was really the difference. A good lesson learned by the team tonight, skate with energy and purpose and you will draw penalties.
fiftyone Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Miller mentioned something in the postgame about some of his best friends in hockey wearing the blue and white. Anyone know who he is talking about, besides maybe Connolly?
SwampD Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Some random thoughts - -This game showed us all why it is better for us all, when both the Sabres and the Leafs are good at the same time. At times, it felt like playoff hockey and it was great. -I don't know if Vanek will ever lead a team to a SC or even win one, but he scores goals I've never seen any other hockey player score. -Regehr had a rough outing. -Kassian is for reals,.. yo. -Sekera has (not had) a great game. Just because he can move the puck, doesn't mean that he can't (or doesn't) play a physical game. -I had to switch over to the Toronto feed when RJ, HN, and RR said that shouldn't have been a penalty shot. It turns out that the TO crew was just as biased for their guys. -I like Ellis,.. I just do. I think he is a net positive for the team. -As much as Roy frustrates all of us, his defense is really good. -Did I mention that Kassian is for reals,.. like, for real for reals?
FogBat Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Thanks. My next question is can he beat the crap out of a Leaf with a face full of stitches or is it just better to wait until we see Phaneuf again? GO SABRES!!! Taro says, "Phaneuf is French for GEICO Caveman."

As to the rules, I thought if it went through the blue crease icing was waved off.
darksabre Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 What a nice game to watch. That was nice. Vanek is disgusting. The Queafs played not so great. But most importantly my Spinner Spencer jersey gets its first "sitting on the couch drinking beers" win. Pics of that jersey soon. I remember that play. It was in the far corner to the left of the screen. As to the rules, I thought if it went through the blue crease icing was waved off. That is correct.

Are you sure about this? I'm not seeing Roy as a defensive whiz....and his propensity for taking crappy penalties is really starting to wear me out .....
fiftyone Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 I think we have to keep things in context when it comes to Roy. He may not be the perfect player, or even the player that everyone wants him to be, but I'm fairly confident in saying that just about every team in the league would take him at 4 million a year. Darcy may have made mistakes with some other signings regarding money, but he made a very good deal in getting Roy for that number in my opinion.

Growing up I was always told that if the player gets a shot on goal, it can't be a penalty shot. As for the icing, I was always told that if it went through the crease, no icing?
