Which is probably why canadian players that grew up on stuff like this are better... they learned not to miss passes or the net.

Having ice for ten months a year doesn't hurt either.

yup - here we are at mid december I can't even think about trying to make ice, and the long range forecast doesn't look good for the next week either.

It would be nice if the kids could play hockey for hours on end at a community outdoor rink every day after school for 4 or five months a year like they do in Canada. My kids play a lot of hockey and get a lot of ice time, but not enough free time to just play and be creative and have fun without a coach breathing down their neck to make sure the time is productive.

I used to go to Lake George every Christmas when I was younger and Black Ice covered the whole lake. We would start on one side of the lake, pack a lunch, pass the puck the whole way and eat on the other side. God do I miss that Adirondack atmosphere......

This is my biggest problem with living in WNY. We get all the snow and fireworks of winter but without the consistently cold weather necessary for good frozen ponds. Makes me wish I lived in Minnesota.

Cool story  Sounds like it would be fun.
