So the GF and I are planning on giving a little of richmond to my family and giving a little of Buffalo to hers. So we are gonna put baskets together. I know many probably wont have any ideas for richmond and I think she should have a good grasp for that, what should I put in the Buffalo basket??? Chiavettas, sponge candy, those are probably locks but anyone else have any good ideas?

I've always thought that Richmond is the Buffalo of the South. I love that city. Anyway, on to the ideas:

Ted's chili sauce

Anchor Bar wing sauce

Chef's pasta sauce (which I think is gross, but others may differ)

DiCamillo biscotti

DiCamillo peaches

How 'bout Flying Bison beer then?

Damn, I'm sitting here thinking hard of something non-food manufactured in Buffalo. How bad is it that I can't come up with anything made in Buffalo (non-food) that would make a nice Christmas gift?

How do you give someone shattered dreams, misplaced childhood and heartache?

Give Bills season tickets! The gift that keeps on taking all year 'round!

Really. All u guys do is eat. lol

Do you live in Buffalo? I'd walk down Elmwood village and find something cool.

Is there anything for sale there besides hipster T-shirt places, dorm room art stores and head shops?

Anything besides food?

How about a nice New Era Sabres Cap?

(Trying to stay away from the 'shattered dreams' but if that's where you want to go, you could throw in a nice New Era Bills Cap. ;))

maybe a few sabres t-shirts, maybe something like an incentive package to visit WNY. gift passes to the maid of the mist or something like that? though to use them, they'd have to have at least their passport card, so maybe not THAT specifically ... but you get the idea.

Uh, yeah. It's not 1993 anymore. There's a lot of local upscale stuff on Elmwood.

How did you know when I was last on Elmwood?

Apparently, they need more bars to entice people back.

My father at Thanksgiving told the story of how Mr Goodbar had 25 cent drafts when he was going to college. I thought that was amazing.

Guess you'd be shocked to know that when I was 18 I could fill my tank with gas and buy a bucket of wings for less then $15. ($.60 a gallon, $7.50 for 50 wings)

Two full tanks for $15? Wow. And a pack of smokes for 25 cents?

I don't remember 25 cent smokes, but I clearly remember 50 cent smokes sold in vending machines at Your Host.. Now that should take some of you back.. Others will say, what's Your Host?

25-cent drafts were around at least well into the mid- to late-90s. The quality of the beer, on the other hand...

I ate a lot of breakfasts at Your Host. :)

Ok. You are your avatar, aren't you?

Back again to the topic, what about a nice set of Buffalo rocks glasses or tumblers, if not food? Or a nice (framed) poster from Albright, or even a framed photo or drawing of some of our awesome architecture?

Or--depending on your feelings for your gf's parents--some real Lake Erie water, bottled and ready-to-drink? It hasn't frozen over yet; get your bottles out there and fill 'em up!
