Hard not to root for a Buffalo kid has had a weird ride ever since he dared to arbitrate. If his fan club in Florida don't have use for him, it feels like it's not gonna happen elsewhere.

Screw it pick him up to play for the Amerks they need guys, right? When we get healthy throw him down a level unless he earns his spot.

He crossed the organization. This will never happen. Think he regrets it?

It's also a one way contract. No way are we taking on even his paltry salary at this point.

I take that back. Right now his salary counts against our cap figure. If we claim him and assign him to Rochester then we pay his whole salary but he no longer counts against our cap figure.

Brilliant!

This is a no brainer right?

We would not save that much against the cap by doing this though ... I think his buy-out cap amount is under $200,000.

I would claim him, just to show there are no hard feelings and he is a decent player to have around.

He's got a two way contract this year.

I don't think the Sabres ever touch him again.

You are right - two way contract this year - and since the charge to our cap figure was due to a buyout spread over two years we will never be able to recoup it even if we claimed him, so I am back to this never happening - TK was a message to young players within the organization as much or more than it was about TK.

I can't believe this is being rehashed.

Tim Kennedy isn't an impact player. He'll never be an impact player. I tend not to care that they let him go. Maybe he shouldn't have played hardball and signed if he didn't want to have hurt feelings. Honestly, the guy should have been thanking his lucky stars every day that he had a spot in an NHL lineup.

if a dime-a-dozen player complains publicly about his pay when he is first promoted, and then goes to arbitration during his first opportunity, when he is basically nothing more then a glorified energy guy, it suggest a pattern. And not a good one. Kennedy wanted more $$ than Kaleta, and just shy of Grier. That's madness.

Agreed on the madness part. Some people seem to think that just because they "earned" a spot instead of "paying their dues" and proving that they're a key asset that the organization doesn't want to get rid of that they can demand a certain salary. Contentment is fast becoming a lost art regardless of occupation/profession, and Kennedy is yet another example of this.

I can't believe the hatred by some towards Kennedy. He made a decision allowed by the CBA, and probably recommended by his agent. It didn't work out, and what looked like a promising NHL career as a rookie, is instead heading down the road of a career AHL/injury call-up to the NHL player, or a guy who could have a good career in Europe.

No hatred from me towards Kennedy or what he did. My "hatred" (though that word is a little strong) is with the fans and posters here who b*tched and moaned for months about how cheapskate Regier "screwed him over." It was the single most widespread pandemic of overreaction I've ever seen. The kid was simply NOT THAT GOOD, but people around here act like Regier cut loose another Danny Briere...

Kennedy made a decision allowed by the CBA, so did Regier. And based on the results, it looks like ol' Darcy made the right call.

Ya think?

Flat out, he screwed up. He was living the dream and got bad advice and now it's spiraling down into a nightmare. I hope he gets another crack at it, but wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Europe.

No hate here either, but I bet Kennedy hates his agent.

He made a dumb decision, but even if he hadn't i doubt he'd be on this team now. There is just no place for him. He tried to screw with one of the tightest ownerships in Hockey and lost. Bye. Still at least Florida have a use for him...

Well, it's impossible to know, but I suspect he'd be on the Sabres if he hadn't screwed it up by taking them to arbitration. He was in a pretty good groove, he played a lot at the end of 2009-10 and the playoffs that year and Lindy liked him. I liked him too -- I thought he had good hockey IQ, was a good skater and played tougher than his size.
