Robviously Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 if we keep playing like this at home, can we lobby to play home games in toronto?!?!? Just like the Bills!! :wallbash:
DerekRoyforPres Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Dumb play by Kassian. We are down 2 goals, not a time to take stupid penalties. By the way, where is out net presence? The front of the net is vacated like 80% of the time. Is Goose really the only one on our team willing to go to the net?
wallybarthman Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 I'm fine with the call on Kassian - but Callahan should have gotten one for the elbow to the head. Shanahan will call him.... oh no, never mind, he won't.

thesportsbuff Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Well, I'll be the one to say it. Vanek gets way too much credit. He had a nice first 10-15 games or so. When's the last time he scored a goal that wasn't on a breakaway or a powerplay? I wish we had someone who could create chances for themselves, a legitimate sniper. I'm sick of watching Vanek camp in the neutral zone waiting for a breakaway pass, then miss the net on his signature slapper and sit there and look to the sky or shake his head. Earlier in this game he missed the net, stopped skating, got pissed at himself like usual -- if he had just kept skating he probably would have been able to help out as his team mate held the puck in along the boards. But he'd rather sit there and feel sorry for himself.
kishoph Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Time to turn it up, 8 minutes left, Marty hasn't really had to make a lot of hard saves a lot of pucks shot right into him, we need a quick one. Go Sabres

wallybarthman Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 That's a horrible call - we've had guys get knocked down all period and they call that?
wallybarthman Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Can we count the number of times we've gotten screwed this season by refs deciding to double standard the third period?
HopefulFuture Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Stick a fork in this team, they are done. I doubt they make the playoffs and even if they do it's another 1st round exit for them.
sabres1970 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 something needs to change. How is this the team with the highest f*ing payroll in the league? Are you kidding me? Power play is putrid. No one willing to get dirty. Time to change it up. fire Lindy. In all seriousness.
HopefulFuture Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Somethings needed to change for 4 years now. I think I'll take a break from them for the remainder of the holidays, it's just the same ole, same ole game in and game out.
fiftyone Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Can we count the number of times we've gotten screwed this season by refs deciding to double standard the third period? If you try to count, don't include this game. The refs didn't cost the sabres anything.
wallybarthman Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 I still say we need to wait until after the all-star break to know what this team is made of. My whining about the officiating aside - they didn't deserve to win or play well enough to - just so we are clear.

nobody Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 What an exciting loss! So entertaining!

No, I don't know if you've noticed but this is the first time we've spent to the cap...ever? let alone four years. It's also the first year under Pegula. What's the justification for Lindy? I understand there have been injuries and very few guys are actually playing worth their money but why is he untouchable? He's never won us a cup! He finally gets the chance to use actual high priced players and where's that getting us? Blame it on the players all you want, and that's obviously justified. But where do you draw the line with Ruff? All I know is he's a perfect 0-12 with Stanley cups, and that looks like it's soon to be 13.
tulax Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Credit goes to the NYR's, who in the first 10 minutes really set the tempo and dictated their style of play. These guys are professional athletes and therefore shouldn't need a coach to get them motivated for games. However, I feel a shake-up of some sort is necessary to get these guys out of their rut. Maybe if they won't fire Ruff they'll bring in some of the alumni to "hold this group accountable."

I agree that Ruff shouldn't be "untouchable" and making him the scapegoat might give the Sabres a kick. I think it would have to come before the holidays in order to allow for a proper adjustment period. However, so long as Reiger is GM I don't think that change will come. Therefore, you'd need to essentially clean house of your hockey operations executives midseason. I'm not sure if there's precedent for that.

sabres1970 Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Players in my dog house (and hopefully Lindy's): - Ennis. Basically Maxim Afinogenov with a 1/4 of the scoring ability (and that is saying a lot). VERY trade-able. - MAG. Bottom line: he should never play an NHL game again when Weber/Myers come back. - Enroth. Don't need to explain myself. 2 weeks of rest equals that??? - Erhoff/ Leino. Yeah, way to earn your money boys.
itbeatswalking Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Why did we play enroth? Miller only played 3. That was proof why enroth is a back up.
