Need better passing, we sould bring in emilio estevez....start picking up garbage through the town of buffalo and practicing with eggs.

I still think Mighty Duck references should be banned from all ice rinks around the world.

That quote from Vanek makes me nauseous. He might as well just say "We think we're pretty much the bomb and we don't think we need to prove it."

 what.

Nah, running this into the ground is way more fun.

Yes.

Oh and I suppose you want to ban Slap Shot references too?

Agreed but slapshot references should be mandated....

McGrath: I got a good deal on those boys. The scouts said they showed a lot of promise.

Reggie Dunlop: They brought their f_ckin' TOYS with 'em!

McGrath: Well, I'd rather have em playin with their toys than playin with themselves

Reggie Dunlop: They're too dumb to play with themselves. Boy, every piece of garbage that comes into the market and you gotta buy it!

McGrath: Reg, Reg, that reminds me. I was coachin' in Omaha in 1948 and Eddie Shore sends me this guy who was a terrible masturbator, you know, couldn't control himself. Why, he would get deliberate penalties so he could get over in the penalty box all by himself and damned if he wouldn't... you know...

Last game i went to was the 8 to 1 game vs the thrashers last year

i should go more often. i have only seen 1 loss a few years back. im 6-1

I was at that game too :-). Let's hope tonight involves the crowd cheering "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 WE WANT 6" like we did in that one ;-).

i mean, c'mon.

with gambling, the very nature of the pastime contemplates a divide between the interests of the house and the interests of the gamblers. with pro sports, the organization and the fans want the same thing.

fans can disagree with how this team is being managed. but that doesn't somehow mean that darcy or ted is nefariously cackling behind some curtain, mocking the rubes who continue to buy tickets and gear, in ignorance that there's no hope for success. they're trying to get to where we want them to be; you may think they're going about it the wrong way, but this isn't a rigged house.

I guess you missed the Golisano/Quinn presser last year :w00t:

That's the standoff......I know in my very being that Darcy/Lindy need a crazy amount of good luck to pull off a Stanley Cup. If that day ever came, I would give due. However, under their leadership, this team has been nowhere near sniffing a championship recently, and even though blank checks have been thrown around and we are 1/3 through the season....the same issues with the team seem to exist.

I will never be proven correct and can only be proven wrong with an infinite timeline. A poster who preaches patience always has next year to be correct. In my opinion, Regier and Ruff have already reached infinity.

on paper we should have more offensive talent than we did last year.

i believe that we are due for one of those games

Woah now. Lay off the crazy talk. Next you'll be putting Angels in the Outfield (to be fair, maybe it is decent, but I've never seen it) in the same sentence as Major League.

fair deuce. my comments were really intended to be directed to current ownership.

this debate started because you first likened patient and faithful fans to corporate yes-men (and suggested that rigorous debate was needed), and then you likened the organization to a rigged casino.

now you're back to where you should be: unequivocally stating the firmly held opinion that, if pegula wants to win multiple cups, then the first order of business should be to replace the current GM and coach. i don't know that i disagree with you there.

I suppose I could elaborate.

It sounds to me like he's saying the majority of the team is positive that they're really good, and as a result, they don't have to prove it. Which is what leads to these half-hearted efforts where they "get comfortable."

If I'm a proud man, I'm convinced that anything I do well can always be done better. And that once I become better I may become great. Being content with where you are as an athlete (or as a worker) leads to being content with ones effort.

Sounds to me like most of these guys are way too comfortable.

"Yes-men" in the sense that some "patient and faithful" don't want to become aware of potential shortfalls. Potential discussion is brushed off at times. I used the rigged casino in the sense that I in my heart KNOW we can't win with the current combo. Yes, that is opinion in reality, but to me it is a fact. I can never be proven correct, I can only point out continued faults and negative synergy of the current setup. I have no problem with ownership and what is in their hearts. The process by which they attempt to reach their goal I can take issue with though.

I don't think that's what he was saying at all.

Please make garbagnani go away!

At least break him and Errorhoff up. Neither seems to have much confidence in themselves, let alone in each other.

GO SABRES!!!

I've seen that play by McNabb made 1000 times, this is the first time I've seen it called a penalty. I wouldn't be surprised if Shanny told the officials to stick it to the Sabres if they so much as breath on a goalie.
