Let me save you the trouble.

I saw you posted this in every thread. I didn't read what led up to it, or many responses to it...but reading/seeing it once was more than good enough more good sir... :death:

Any guess on which period the Sabres decide to show up in?

Will it be the first then do nothing the rest of the game, or maybe the second after they give up a couple in the first they come out like bats out of hell in the second then sit around in the third, or possibly show up in the third after getting beat up in the first two periods and try to pull off a comeback win.

I would hope to see them show up in all 3 periods, but it seems that their MO has been to either play hard and aggressive in the 1st or the last three minutes of the 3rd. I hate feeling, talking negative about the team, but they really need to step it up. I can't imagine how frustrating it'll be to see them just squeak into the playoffs or not make to them at all.

Big night for the Sabres, lose tonight and they hit the DeLuca .500 mark. ...

Edited for clarification. Thought I should clear that up lest any uninformed Millenials not understand what a .500 record really means.

GO SABRES!!!

You're right, Jerry. Thanks for pointing that out. How can I help them understand the DeLuca .500 if I can't put in digital form? I only hope it isn't too late.

I'm not sure where you got this original post as you've been kind enough to post it in several threads but I'd just like to ask GoDD what he means by

"and all those self-doubts that have been burried in team Kitty's heads the past few years and chalked up to excuses are now being proven in concrete reality. You can only deny and hide for so long before you have to deal with it.....and usually the longer you ignore a festering problem, the more of a disaster it eventually becomes when you finally have to deal with it."

How exactly does any poster deal with the team not being as good as they thought?????

This is going to be a tough game, sure but were also a tough team with all the money Terry P spent right?

Mr. Gailey, would you say that it's a tough game for tough people?

...Lindy Special...

 I hate loving this new term.

Any guess on which period the Sabres decide to show up in?

Maybe the 5th? Oh... you say there are only three periods? Well sh*t then....

Tough to be confident in this team today.

My main point is that for as much as I or a group of critical posters is labled as "negative", at least we bring up certain issues as potential problems, or are willing to outright call it a problem. All too often it seems there is a counter group that wants to "will" this team to greatness, and in doing so they ignore the critical issues at hand. When the same thing has been evident for years "i.e. team softness), and it all boils over in one glorious moment (Lucic game and aftermath), it takes an over the top moment like that to open some people's eyes.....and even then some do not see it as a problem.

A fan is going to have a bias, I understand that. But much like a company full of "yes-men", you end up worse off in the longrun by ignoring issues instead of having rigorous debate. One of the reasons I have been so steadfast in some of my opinions is the refusal for debate. Now after listening to Mr. Black's response to Howard Simon yesterday on the issue of GM and Coach, I am leaning towards putting him in that camp. In the longrun......it will cost even more when the correction is finally, if ever made.

not exactly sure what's going on here, but i think i can guess. i will add this: the analogy of

sabres : fans :: corporate employer : mid-level officers

doesn't work on a lot of levels. and, honestly, i have plenty of friends who just love loving the team and will spend for the cable package that delivers games and for merchandise and some game tickets each year, and they're not particularly interested in having rigorous debate. and i think that is perfectly fine. this is supposed to be an enjoyable pastime, not some endeavor that you need to work to help succeed.

p.s. for my own part, of course, i quite enjoy the rigorous debate. but the idea that what i think and say has bearing on what the team does is not one i entertain.

Nah, running this into the ground is way more fun.

Exactly. I see this puppy lasting all season.

Millennial brains, indeed.

Gambling is an enjoyable past-time to me. I can gleefully hand over a vig to the house, but if I feel that the casino is rigged and I can never win, it is no longer enjoyable. I've been watching the slot machine gobble money up for 14 years now, with no jackpot. The past 5 years the return has been even more attrocious. I sort of resent when people continue to tell me "Go ahead....put another C-Note in.....it will payoff any second now!" Not so much for them saying that, but for telling me I am in the wrong for not wanting to play at that casino after constant diminishing returns.

We have a new casino owner, but the same floorman is programing the machines, the same machines are on the floor, and the same wallet continues to get smaller.

First, I appreciate the response.

Secondly, isn't the...what is it called "Team kittey something" side also just trying to stir up a conversation? I have not seen one single post on this message board since the Lucic hit saying this team is tough enough or it would be a waste of time trying to get tougher players. I think 99% of fans watching the game know the team is lacking a legit centre/tough guy/leader. It gets tiresome reading the constant posts saying fire Ruff, fire Regier after every single game. Just because a fan isn't preaching it on the board doesn't mean they don't wish that a deal could be made or we could go back in time and in hindsight, draft bigger, physical players or trade Vanek to Edmonton etc. etc. I read what you and other 'stormcloud whatever' posters have to say and if I disagree with something then I post my reasoning. This does not mean that myself (or anyone I would assume) actually believes the team is doing fine right now and are making up excuses to believe it. I again, don't know how I can 'deal' with the fact upper management has made some glaring gaffs over the past couple of years. In case you haven't noticed I would be surpised if one single poster disagrees with your assessment of Darcy Regier and how he needs to go.

Sorry for taking this thread off course.

Chewy on his way back up.

Leopold back. Goose out.

I see Miller gets the start tonight which probably means Enroth gets to play against his countrymen and idol at home tomorrow.

That actually is a good coaching move by Lindy if that's how he plays it. Just curious who gets Ville spot on the line with Adam and Krashian tonight,

This is what I would like to see from this game:

Reasonably accurate passing even during the inevitable spells of Panthers pressure.

The Sabres at least trying to be first to the puck for all of three straight periods

Drew Stafford building on the last 5 minutes of last game

That's what I want to see. Heck, I'll take two out of three.

i mean, c'mon.

with gambling, the very nature of the pastime contemplates a divide between the interests of the house and the interests of the gamblers. with pro sports, the organization and the fans want the same thing.

fans can disagree with how this team is being managed. but that doesn't somehow mean that darcy or ted is nefariously cackling behind some curtain, mocking the rubes who continue to buy tickets and gear, in ignorance that there's no hope for success. they're trying to get to where we want them to be; you may think they're going about it the wrong way, but this isn't a rigged house.
