Panthers at Sabres 7:30PM

I don't see injuries as any excuse for Buffalo tonight. Panthers had a tough game and need to travel.

Panthers beat Boston in Boston. Kopecky scored with just minutes left and they added an empty netter to win 2-0.

Sabres need to call someone up from Rachacha because Leino is out suspended. I'm betting Whitmore.

Who's hot: Theodore is 5-1-1 in his last seven starts for the Panthers, allowing two goals or less in all but one of those outings. Dmitry Kulikov (2-3-5) and Tomas Fleischmann (1-4-5) have three-game points streaks active. … Kassian, the Sabres' first-round pick in 2009, has goals in consecutive games. He has 3 goals and 5 points in six games since being called up.

Florida takes over the Eastern Conference lead if they win.

Lets Go Buff-a-lo!

Just now i am very pessimistic. I do not see a win tonight or tomorrow either.

Too many peoples do not play as they should, some mor are injured and i really do not see a coaching strategy.

Yeah i am not near being an expert. I am just a fan and as a fan it is my job to be worried if my team is struggling.

And yes i am allowed to blame everyone and everything because my team plays bad.

Please dear Buffalo player , dear Lindy proof me wrong and send the Panthers home like crying babies.

Cats have been looking real good. This is going to be a tough game.

This is going to be a tough game, sure but were also a tough team with all the money Terry P spent right?

Big night for the Sabres, lose tonight and they hit the .500 mark. Their goal differential has dropped to a plus 2. Looking out how the east is trending right now, it does seem that .500 will be good enough to make the top eight. Looking at the standings and all the teams within shouting distance of a playoff spot, it is not too early to start scoreboard watching.

Safe to say another Lindy Special won't be enough to walk away with any much needed points.

I hope the Sabres are not content w/ the idea of making the playoffs w/ a .500 record. I understand Buffalo has had an unthinkable amount of injuries, but they have been in position to win games and failed to do so. Right now, I'm starting to wonder if the Sabres will even make the playoffs. To think Buffalo was picked by some analysts to win their division...

that's a weird thought

I'll be there tonight. I'm hoping it'll be a good game. And no injured players coming back that could take Leino's spot?! EDIT: Doesn't matter if someone comes back because they will be taking Gerbe's spot effectively...awesome...

Great I get to see one of the coaches tonight I thought would have been a good replacement for Lindy. Dineen has his team playing sound hockey, game in and game out.

Lindy, want to see a system work ? Watch how the Panthers play patient defensive hockey and pounce on mistakes.

No easy games in this new NHL parity league. What Sabres team do i get tonight, rumbling or humbling ? Just don't know what to expect with this team anymore. Hopefully I do get to see some hockey and don't have to switch the game off early.

Let's go Bflo, pass for show shoot for dough.

Going to the game tonight. 1-3 so far(and there was another game I had tickets for that I couldn't make, which was also a loss). My expectations are low. I've been reduced to hoping to at least see an exciting game. Score 3 or 4 goals, a couple of fights, a close game at least into the 3rd period...

I am getting frustrated about hearing the sabres excuse with having issues winning is the injury bug. The young guys who have been getting called up have done more then a fill in job for the guys who were injured. Kassian, tropp, McNabb, all deserve a spot on this team. Kassian especially has impressed me with his physical play and ability to score. We need more physical play, but most of all consistency. We turn the puck over wayyyy to much.

Any guess on which period the Sabres decide to show up in?

Will it be the first then do nothing the rest of the game, or maybe the second after they give up a couple in the first they come out like bats out of hell in the second then sit around in the third, or possibly show up in the third after getting beat up in the first two periods and try to pull off a comeback win.

Sounds like Sabrespace will be well represented tonight. I'll be at my first game of the season tomorrow. I'm definetly over .500 in attendance so maybe that will break this jinx we seem to have on home ice (ok I know it's poor hockey and not a jinx). Just surprising how the team can be so good on the road versus at home. I don't need a pretty show tonight, I want the two points. Florida plays a tough defensive game and takes advantage of opportunities. Not a good matchup against a team like us who turns the puck over so often. Saying that, I'm thinking we win both games this weekend led by Kassian, McNabb and the young guys.

The young guys are doing okay offensively, but defensively they scare me. Just look at Kassian, I believe he had a goal and assist the other night, but he was also on the ice for three goals if I'm not mistaken.

You can already predict the quotes after this game

-"we should have come out harder, they played last night...no excuse"

- "guys have to bear down harder and bury their chances, no finish tonight"

-"(Miller) probably would have liked that one back"

-"guys are getting frustrated, we have to learn to play road hockey at home"

See, i just saved you the effort of listening to the post game comments.

"We have to stop trying to put on a show at home". :wallbash:

You forgot one i just read this morning that Lindy threw out there.

"Might have been caught out there a bit too long got caught up in their speed and ended up a bit winded and made a bad decision with the puck"

Certainly seeing a lot of bad decisions with the puck lately. Someone else in another thread questioned this teams conditioning.

I watched a good bit of FLA-Boston last night and was very impressed with how well-coached the Panthers looked.

I'll also say that Soupy looked terrific. Completely confident and in control. He is significantly better than any defenseman on the Sabres right now.

Having said that: it's getting awfully negative around here. I think the Sabres will rebound and deliver a win tonight. Maybe Vanek and Stafford will find their grooves having scored the other night. And I think Miller will play well.

Go Sabres.

You are right - Kassian should have made those saves.

Let me save you the trouble.

It's going to calm down, don't worry. Over the next few weeks either the team will start to play better and people will calm down.....or they will stay the same or worse and the fans will turn on Team Kitten with force until either a change is made or apathy builds.

I shut up for the first 20 games and had some hope. That Boston game was a once in a generation defining moment. For those of us that have wanted Regier and Ruff gone for 5 years, this is a time to educate fans on their historical failures and show a pattern of management. Shackles schmackles.....look what Tallon and Dineen have done so far this year with a team $12 million under the cap and spending $40 million less in cash than the Sabres. I guess they didn't need 40% of the season to start and gel.

People are getting their panties in a bunch now because Team Stormcloud is holding up a mirror and the Sabres consistant failures are showing like a ripe zit on a 15 year girl old right now.......and you are forced to look at it. It isn't comfortable.....and all those self-doubts that have been burried in team Kitty's heads the past few years and chalked up to excuses are now being proven in concrete reality. You can only deny and hide for so long before you have to deal with it.....and usually the longer you ignore a festering problem, the more of a disaster it eventually becomes when you finally have to deal with it.

Darcy Regier just signed Lieno, Ehrhoff, Sekera, Stafford and Myers to $132.5 million dollars worth of contracts. Let that number sink in for a moment. 126 games played, 13 goals , 36 assists, a -15........$132.5 million.

Now we hear from the Team President, with righteous indignation to boot, that GM and Coach are not even an issue worth discussing. We are going to let the same man who just spent $132.5 million on Lieno, Sekera, Stafford, Ehrhoff and Myers....go into a trade market.....and give said player/players to a man who named Jason Pominville, Derek Roy and Drew Stafford team captains.....and people expect logical, educated, and loyal Sabres fans to sit back with a smile as this is shoved down our throats?

Pegula has doubled down on Hockey Purgatory once again. First he fails to get a real hockey man to oversee operations, then he goes and gets Boyes in a feel-good push for 8th place instead of collecting picks for pending free agents that had plenty of value in a seller's market, then he hands out anchorous contracts to the same mold of soft players we have seen here for years, and now he is going to let the same people attempt to save the season by making another trade and possibly squeezing out the last bit of economic flexibility this team has.

And from what I can tell....they haven't changed the quote in the locker room to "The sole reason for the Buffalo Sabres existence is to win the Stanley Cup.....or die trying."

Yet that has been the quote Mr. Black has been using since sometime after the 5-1 start this year.

Trust me......Team Stormcloud will be quiet soon. About as quiet as a random sampling of decible level at the arena on the night of a home game. If Black and Pegula are as dug in as they seem on status quo making decisions, there will be nothing left to complain about. Thy will is done.........and with that it either turns around, or the franchise is set back another year yet again.

Dineen has been doing a great job down there. I've been VERY impressed with what he is doing.
