DR HOLLIDAY Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 A 14 year tour..............A 14 year tour............ Not really arguing at this point.......But are we really out of anything at this point? Lost Gerbe today for awhile, kinda seems like we are snake bitten at this point in time......
Bullwinkle Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Coward... :) I started him in mine... You should have thought with your head, not your heart. Wish I had Howard on any of my fantasy teams. Can you trade between leagues? I'll give you Enroth AND Miller.
bunomatic Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 This team needs help. Regier clearly isn't the guy to make those moves. Did the Sabres actually scout Leino before they gave him those bags full of money. I had seen him play before as well but like most in the hockey world I thought they overpaid. Now I think they should lose their jobs for that lack of judgement. We're saddled with this guy for 6 years. Maybe he'll find his game but it's either coaching or the wrong linemates and I'm beginning to think the proper linemates currently wear another uniform. This team needs a shakeup of BIBLICAL proportions. The chemistry is all out of wack and there appears to be no leadership on the ice or behind the bench. At times tonight Lindy actually looked like he was fighting sleep.
OverPowerYou Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 I didn't watch the game. What happened to Gerbe?
DR HOLLIDAY Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 I didn't watch the game. What happened to Gerbe? Skate to the face, 40 stitches.
Bullwinkle Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 been hoping the same thing since october of 1970...!!! Ditto
carpandean Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 We're saddled with this guy for a decade. Just six seasons. Ehrhoff got the 10 year deal.
Bullwinkle Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 My major problem with Enroth tonight was on the Franzen goal. What is he doing on his knees? (as those of you old enough to remember, Howie Meeker would say, "What is he doing on his knees? Looking for quarters?") He's not tall enough to cover the top of the net, which is where The Mule put it.
bunomatic Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Just six seasons. Ehrhoff got the 10 year deal. Only 6 more years? Hopefully he finds his game.
carpandean Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Only 6 more years? Hopefully he finds his game. Well, 5 more after this one, so it's really more like 5-3/4.
Marine0369 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Ruff is here because of the same reason Connolly was here for so long. Regier hates change. He maintains the status quo probably just to keep the team where he can keep his job. In Ruff's case hes a former Sabre and longest tenured coach. Brining in a new guy would prove nobody is untouchable including himself. Our summer acquisitions were nothing different than what we normall get at the trade deadline. Only this time we had the money to do it a couple of times in the post season. We got an overrated dman (ehrhoff), on the downslope dman (regher), and a winger who we said was a 1st line center and over paid him. Now he is back to being an over paid winger. Regher used smoke and mirrors on all of us. He took the excitement of new ownership/promises and threw around alot of money in a short period of time. In return we bought season tickets, centerice packages on t.v. and many of us said hell yes to these moves in the begnning. Our core players are not very talented either. Except Tommy boy. Think of the movie Office Space. People here are only willing to work hard enough just to keep their jobs. Players included. Which they have the most impact because they are the ones on the ice. If you get paid big boy money to play a game, if you should not need a coach to motivate you. Man up and someone please knock pominville out then rip his C off and put it on your jeersey because you have just shown more nuts than he has had his entire career. Wait, Im sorry its not his job to ever in any way inspire his teammates as captain. He sets the example by having Vanek clean up his garbage shots for assists. I can tell Hecht will play good this year which will get him a new contract later on then suck again. Something is wierd when last year he was 3/4 line, now hes our number 1 center.
inkman Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Whatever needs to happen to this this team can't and won't happen. I didn't watch this game nor do I need to. The team has needed a facelift for as long as I can remember and it will take an organizational overhaul to do it. It won't happen and I will be stuck rooting for the same...whatever they are...
Marvelo Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Skate to the face, 40 stitches. You look at facial injuries piling up around the league; the game is getting too fast for players to react to pucks, sticks and skates to the face, even with visors. It's amazing no one has gotten an eye taken out or a jugular slash. The time is now for Bettman, that spineless jellyfish, to make face cages mandatory in this league! I don't care about players' vanity. When fast guys like Gerbe go down with an injury like this, it's time.
LabattBlue Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 When fast guys like Gerbe go down with an injury like this, it's time. What does Gerbe being fast have to do with being able to avoid getting cut by a skate of a falling teammate?
deluca67 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Much like you have failed to keep up with the going rate for quality WR's....generic chips start at 50 cents a bag now. :D The Budwey's by me still has the .25 bags of chips.
deluca67 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 What does Gerbe being fast have to do with being able to avoid getting cut by a skate of a falling teammate? If he were slower the skate would have missed him?
waldo Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 My major problem with Enroth tonight was on the Franzen goal. What is he doing on his knees? (as those of you old enough to remember, Howie Meeker would say, "What is he doing on his knees? Looking for quarters?") He's not tall enough to cover the top of the net, which is where The Mule put it. Enroth is a good young goalie that is being shelled because his defense is swiss cheese, his PK has gone dormant, and most of the game is being played in his end. No goalie can consistently stop those types of scoring chances. When you are his size your D has to pemit you to play big and cover the top of the net. That is impossible when everything is happening from behind the net, in the low slot and on screens. He actually held us in the game last night a couple of times. Is he Miller...no . Will he ever be elite...odds are against it, but who knows.(a good coach could put a defensive scheme in front of him that could make him look elite)(the Sabres did last year) All goalies streak, slump and give up soft goals. After a few bad games in a row they withdraw, play deeper in their net, start to cheat more, go down sooner when under pressure, etc etc etc . It is all a head game with them.A lifetime of consistently being blamed for everything negative that happens when your team is playing poorly and then recieving praise for circumstances you had little to do with when they are playing well can test your mental stability. I think you already know all of these things, and perhaps , your just venting.
SwampD Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Missing: McCormick, Boyes, Leopold, Myers In: Kassian, Hecht, McNabb, Finley Pretty much a wash except for Myers/Finley I don't think this is true. And I still think Miller is better than Enroth. If we were healthy, we should have lost tonight by only 3-2.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 The Budwey's by me still has the .25 bags of chips. And .99 2 liters of Ryans soda ;)
inkman Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 When fast guys like Gerbe go down with an injury like this, it's time. Is Gerbe all that fast, particularly for his size?
Marvelo Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 If he were slower the skate would have missed him? What I'm trying to say (for you literal minded people who don't get it) is that the speed of the game, with the increased mph of the puck with the lightweight sticks, the bigger players zooming around, hitting, falling etc is making reaction time a moot point. It doesn't matter how quickly you can react. When it's your turn, it's your turn. I'm not sure who wouldn't be in favor of protecting the players' faces. It's like when goalies used to refuse to wear masks...then came curved sticks and changed everything. There's a mass stupidity here that refuses to change and we'll keep seeing more horrific injuries to the head and face. Just check the huge NHL injury list at this stage.
Samson's Flow Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 This was another ugly game to add to the long list of ugly games that the Sabres have lost. I don't want to discuss the specifics of who did well and who did not. It was a poor effort. Hope Gerbe is okay after that skate to the face...
calti Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Skate to the face, 40 stitches. uh oh...hes gonna look like a member of the old '70s Blackhawks soon
