thesportsbuff Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Oh my God, Lindy DID NOT just play the injury card - he is officially a defeated man..... He did, and I laughed. In general I'm a fan of Lindy but it's really hard to use the injury excuse when Kassian and McNabb were two of our best players. It's the same old savvy veterans that keep making the mistakes.
kishoph Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Oh my God, Lindy DID NOT just play the injury card - he is officially a defeated man..... I just heard that and I had to laugh.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Poor Gerbe. That will be a nasty scar. The scary part is a taller player would have caught it in the neck.
carpandean Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 MacArthur, Pyatt, Paille, and pretty much anyone who got out of here before 25 years old would say #1. AAHH!! PAILLE IS NOT AN EXAMPLE OF A PLAYER GETTING BETTER AFTER LEAVING! :wallbash: :wallbash: Same player, worse statistically. Better off, not better. (This is a recording.)
... Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Campaigning for board drama queen? No one ever said this. What's with the abusive hyperbole? When I bring up Roy as a problem player and suggest he should be the first to go, there will be people who bring up stats and anecdotes on how he contributes to the team. He's untouchable to some people around here.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 The scary part is a taller player would have caught it in the neck. Good catch.
LGR4GM Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 I want to hit the panic button but I won't right now. Finley was decent in his limited ice time. He looked a little tentative but loosened up a bit as time went on. Maybe by next season he will be ready but for right now he has some things to work on. McNabb played better than the rest of our defense... WTF! Regehr was ok. Sekera I thought was ok although that one goal I was curious to know if he would have done anything other than stand there looking stupid. Ehrhoff was ok. MAG was just awful. That means that our defense which had 4 regulars played meh... there's a problem there. On offense, Leino I am about ready to give up on. He truly makes me want to bash my head against the wall. Idk what to even say to defend him. hes had 25 games now? to do something and he has done absolutely nothing. I am sorry, but Regier needs the axe along with his underlings... There needs to be a new management team because this guy can't bring in a forward to save his life. Zubrus, Bernier, Morris, Boyes, Leino... I am sure I am missing someone but OMFG ENOUGH. If t-pegs is serious about winning he will start by changing the losing management... 14 years! God help us. I could rant more but I am tired and disgusted by that showing tonight.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Oh my God, Lindy DID NOT just play the injury card - he is officially a defeated man..... Missing: McCormick, Boyes, Leopold, Myers In: Kassian, Hecht, McNabb, Finley Pretty much a wash except for Myers/Finley Our only hope is that Kim Pegula threatens to hold out the nukkie until some changes are made.
Eleven Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 WTF did I just see parts of? I saw ONE Sabre shot on goal. It happened to be the goal. I saw very little of the puck in Detroit's end, but I was told on the way home that the Sabres managed 27 SOG. I'm not believing it, unless they iced the puck 26 times and happened to put it on net each time. Obviously, I didn't see the whole game, or even much of it, but what I did see was disgusting. 6 men out isn't helping, but still, this is BS.

I truly feel Darcy is on the hot seat and deservedly so. Pegula is a bizman first and he did not get to be a billionaire by making tentative, damaging decisions. Darcy has until the end of the year and Ruff "ain't goin' anywhere."
Derrico Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 I'm officially on the let's make a change up top bandwagon. Always thought Lindy was a good coach but really, he's never won anything. Darcy almost HAS to go at this point. We've had a soft team forever and that's just how Darcy envisions winning it all. I can't really buy in when we've failed for this long. I never watched Leino much before the signing but how can he possibly be that poor out there? As most of you know, I'm one of the....what do you call it 'sunshine and butterflies'. This also isn't an over reaction based on this game. We need a big change and we need it now. I'm pissed that I spent over a thousand dollars on multiple tickets for multiple games and they are giving this effort. At least the Isles try and don't have the talent to win.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Panic button or try and right the ship........
Derrico Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Panic button or try and right the ship........ It's hard to resist that big red button sitting there. It's the Columbus and Isles game that really got to me but I thought if we could atleast hang with the Wings then we'd be ok. Game looked worse then the score IMO.
spndnchz Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 Well I got to go in a Suite tonight. Worse seats than my usual seasons but hey the food and drink is free. My take: Vanek: man this guy plays good hockey. So strong on the puck Pommers: All but one time he make the correct decision with and without the puck Hecht: seems to have more speed this year (skating coach?) but that giveaway was awful Roy: terrible needless penalty and skated by the puck by the net at least twice tonight Ennis: he's ba-ack. Even though he hasn't done much point wise he makes the defense back up and creates. Good on the PP. Kassian: his board work is a thing of beauty now just tell Leino to get out of the way. More than once he's in the way of the flow of a man behind the net. Get in front! Adam, Gaustad, Kaleta, Stafford: except for the one Stafford cut in front of the net move, meh Finley: poor pass for a giveaway, seemed to be slow in the head, maybe just nervous McNabb, Sekera, Regehr: didn't notice which is good Ehrhoff, Gragnani: worst games all year. Tired? Sick? Enroth: I don't blame him but his rebounds need to stop Ruff: Maybe not but I think he stayed with his starting lines for quite a while tonight. Side note: I actually had conversation with TPegs out in the hallway between periods. He's cool.

LabattBlue Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Just got home from the game... - Another PATHETIC home loss. - There are many home losses over the years with scores worse than 4-1, but this game was one of the worst efforts I have seen from the Sabres that I have witnessed in person. - A Friday night crowd that was silent at the start, and completely taken out of the game at 3-0. I counted one attempt at a Lets Go Buffalo chant and that was in the 3rd period. - Note to Sabres...Don't announce the game as a sellout when it clearly was not. There were empty rows in the corner sections of the 300's, and scattered empty seats in the 100's. - MAG get the F*** off my team!! That play on the 3rd goal was so bad, I wanted to come down there and kick your ass you freakin' sissy! - It's sad when the most emotion this team showed all night was when Roy slammed his stick into the boards at the end of a shift. Maybe show some passion when it can help the team instead of meaningless acts as you head to the bench. - So much for the youth movement. Get Kassian & McNabb back to Rochester before they are poisoned by the rotten core...but before you leave, punch out MAG. - Leino SUCKS so bad, he isn't even worth whipping on. Thanks Regier! I'M FREAKING PISSED!!!!!!!
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Either I missed on MAG, or he was only smooth last year because he came in on the fly and just played off instinct. Now he's had a year with Ruff. I thought he was our calmest D-man in the playoffs.

LGR4GM Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 The obligatory "not good" aside; any word on how he is doin' ? 40 or so stitches from what I heard... hes gonna be down for a bit. Poor guy. Just glad he isn't hurt worse.

Darcy has always wanted to emulate the Red Wings model. His squad was just beaten by them, cleanly. Something needs to change. The whole "it's only 25 games in" excuse wasn't followed by the Caps, Blues, or Canes. Eventually, we will be having these same discussions 60 games in if a change isn't made somewhere in the system.

I knew the game was sold out, but wished they would have announced the ACTUAL attendance. Seemed like 20-30% of the seats were vacant. And yes, I wish Grags would go somewhere else. Consistently terrible, and not exhibiting any growth in his game.
