87168 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Wow, does anybody have the slightest clue what sarcasm is anymore? In my defense it wasnt exactly the easiest post to comprehend haha.
Weave Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 The effort was there tonight. I thought the line combos didn't look like they were clicking. And to give the Islanders credit, they did a great job of clogging up down low and keeping us from getting clean chances in close. They collapsed well. McNabb looked good again. And Lindy had enough faith in him to play him late. Kid is a natural born hitter. He's going to be fun to watch. Kassian looked weak on the puck along the boards. He needs more work there. What happened to the fast passing side-to-side powerplay? Passes and plays were slow to set up. That won't beat even backups in this league. Officiating was awful. Both teams were interfering and getting away with it. MAde for ugly, choppy play. Gat damm Grabner has great wheels and anticipation for the pass. He's like a defensive back sitting on a pass to intercept. The team tonight was obviously lacking in talent. Szechuan and Ellis are one too many borderline NHL players to have on the roster at any one time. Hecht was skating well again. I won;t complain about him at center. Yet. How many fuggin injuries are they going to have to endure? Now Leopold? Sheesh. Getting ridiculous.
Eleven Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 What a bunch of cryers, whimperers, and whiners. The Sabres outplayed a team for three periods, played solid hockey, and the bounces weren't there. That happens. It's a LONG season, and that happens.
itbeatswalking Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Reasons to fire lindy. Leino has not been benched, leino is on the 2nd pp unit, enroth has played 10 straight.
sabres1970 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 No one besides Kassian and McNabb want to get dirty! As soon as Weber comes back Gragnani needs to be scratched. Where's the f*ing intensity? It's the Islanders on your home ice! I don't care how many injuries you have! Wake the hell up! They're in for a beating on friday if they don't fix things.
87168 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Reasons to fire lindy. Leino has not been benched, leino is on the 2nd pp unit, enroth has played 10 straight. And has done pretty damn well given the team that's in front of him. YOU NEED TO SCORE GOALS IF YOU WANT TO WIN. One goal is rarely enough.
fiftyone Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Reasons to fire lindy. Leino has not been benched, leino is on the 2nd pp unit, enroth has played 10 straight. Uhh. Please explain yourself. Or maybe don't. I probably don't even want to read it.
deluca67 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 If they don't at least take this to OT, the haters will be out in full force about a crappy Sabres effort, even though, damn, it's there, bigtime. A bunch of bad bounces have this team down 2-1, not a bad game. That happens in a 82-game season. SwampD had it right, a few bounces and the Sabres are down 5-1. Except for a few plays here and there not much positive to take out of this game. This game called for a down and dirty effort. Forwards needed to get to the tough areas and didn't. Two glaring examples was Stafford about five minutes in where he had the puck in the corner with a lane to the net. He chose to try a needless pass to the middle which ended up a turnover going the other way. Third period Adam did the exact same thing from the exact same position. There is just no excuse for it.

A bunch of bad bounces have this team down 2-1, not a bad game. That happens in a 82-game season. I loved the tempo. NY has our number though because they keep coming on a soft defense. I have had fun watching the past 2. Roy and Lieno missing 5 chances doesn't help though.
darksabre Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I thought Leino played a good game actually. My whipping boy for this game is Grags. Dude is just out of his element. I also want to call out the coaching. It shouldn't take until the third to convince your players that going to the net is the way to score. The Sabres took way too long to follow Vanek's lead. I think you have to give some credit to the Isles as well. They just kept coming on the forecheck and they knew our guys were fighting the puck. Tough loss to swallow but at least it wasn't a blowout.

Did you watch the on the 5 on 3? Did you see Leino's pathetic performance, yet again Did you see that end score. "The Sabres outplayed a team for three periods" ^^^ Looking at the score most would say that wasn't the case Whiners? I'm sorry that we actually want our team to win more than they lose. How selfish of us.
ParkMeadow Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Didn't watch the game- thank God! If you want to see hockey as it should be played, turn on Versus network and watch the Pens and Rags. Speed, intensity and effort by both sides. Actually, the Sabres should watch and learn. They are not in the same class as either of those two teams right now. Lots of fans were excited about beating up on the Caps last Saturday. I felt then, and more so now, that the Sabres were huge beneficiaries of a team that wanted to get its coach fired, and it was not indicative of them turning a corner. I think we are in for a long stretch of win one then snooze through and lose one. Boy, does this team need a wake up call in the worst way!!
SwampD Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I loved the tempo. NY has our number though because they keep coming on a soft defense. I have had fun watching the past 2. Roy and Lieno missing 5 chances doesn't help though. In Leino's defense, it was an ill advised pass that somehow slipped under Montoya's pads. There is now way he was expecting that to get through. And why the hell didn't MAG shoot the puck there. He had a huge chunk of net wide open. He didn't have any confidence tonight.
sabres1970 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I mean people say this every year when they start to slump but is Lindy starting to lose control of this team? This year he's been blessed with the largest abundance of talent and a the deepest pay role he's ever had. I know, it's early and by writing this I'm now prone to people telling me I'm overreacting. But this is beginning to worry me. All injuries and excuses aside, this team is not playing with any type of intensity whatsoever. Okay, so they beat up on a capitals team thats not all there right now. Wooptie freaking doo. Even if they did have all their guys in the lineup I can see their play being any better than this. So go ahead all you Lindy lovers, rip into me. But anyone that's not at least thinking that maybe this has to do with coaching/front office management is insane.
kishoph Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 LINDY just said in his post game that they were on in their passing, I think he must of been watching a different game.
Eleven Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 What game did you watch? Sabres-Isles. I just didn't watch it with the intent to find fault. I watched the game instead.

deluca67 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 LINDY just said in his post game that they were on in their passing, I think he must of been watching a different game. He must have had the same feed as Eleven.
deluca67 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 But looking at the game, they would. You do know the game wasn't on Versus.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Lindy sounds like he's calling in football bets in the back room of a wake.
HopefulFuture Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Bob Murray was at tonight's game.
darksabre Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 In Leino's defense, it was an ill advised pass that somehow slipped under Montoya's pads. There is now way he was expecting that to get through. And why the hell didn't MAG shoot the puck there. He had a huge chunk of net wide open. He didn't have any confidence tonight. Agreed. Can't fault Leino for that play, he never expected it and was unlucky that it didn't end up on his stick. MAG has been frustrating. He seems to move too fast for his own good. He's not solid on the puck so players are challenging him and he's rushing instead of making the smart play. He makes our team unbalanced.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Bob Murray was at tonight's game. Loved him in Caddyshack.
