millbank Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 This man will be a excellent Coach. He and Brother have run the London Knights for a decade of nothing but great success on and off the ice. These would have been the two younger innovative people who differ from the old guys network of coaching and management who would have been a great option in Buffalo. Sad for Boudreau, clearly he ran afoul of teams supposed great player,(great talent, great player another thing, ) . Battle a coach is not going to win. It will likely take a bit of time, but by season's end Washington will be a scary force, not just a talented scary group. Hunter responsible for many current playing NHL'ers. Fortunate and good hire in Washington. imo Bruce Boudreau replaced by Dale Hunter in Washington. Taro T Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=381460 Well, they weren't going to fire Ovie, Semin, and about 10 other guys. It'll be interesting to see if Hunter can get those guys to toe the line.

Taro T Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Well when you loose to 9 rookies I would be pissed too. In fairness, they really only lost to 8 rookies. McIntyre was firmly planted on the bench all game. The only 2 times I noticed Ovie on the ice Saturday night was when he laid out Brennan and when he did a weird pirouette at the point after Washington got whistled on the powerplay.
Eleven Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I'm now seeing twits twattering that the Canes have fired Maurice. We should start an "All About Firings" thread; I think there will be more.
spndnchz Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Maurice fired too. Kirk Muller now coach of 'Canes. Dropping like flies.
wonderbread Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 **fingers crossed** when's Lindy getting the ax... oh yea "Lindy's not going anywhere".
Derrico Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 **fingers crossed** when's Lindy getting the ax... oh yea "Lindy's not going anywhere". I believe it's "Aint Goin Nowhere." Isn't there a Spell/grammer nazi on this board? They can deal with that statement.

The only 2 times I noticed Ovie on the ice Saturday night was when he laid out Brennan and when he did a weird pirouette at the point after Washington got whistled on the powerplay. I thought the "I just got a penalty? ok, I'll hit Luke Adam" reaction summed up Semin's game perfectly.
Sabre fan Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 It would certainly seem that there is a lot more patience, or tolerance here in Buffalo then there is elsewhere for heartless, uninspired hockey. I always get the feeling that this team (Sabres) could, and should be better, and more inspired playing for such great fans. And yet, we consistently see poor, uninspired hockey on a regular basis from far too many players. Even more worrisome, is this has been going on for far too many years. Maybe, even us Ruff/Regeir supporters have to admit that yes, the Sabres may also be ready for a change, and a new direction.
wonderbread Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Ovie is a coach killer. PTR I thought he played a lot like Stafford in the game the other night. Uninterested.

LabattBlue Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Who else is seriously on the block, or close to being fired? Islanders coach? Sens? Colorado? Ottawa is playing much better than anyone expected. I am not sure why you would include them as a team that may want to fire their coach.
dEnnis the Menace Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Ottawa is playing much better than anyone expected. I am not sure why you would include them as a team that may want to fire their coach. It was a question...I honestly haven't looked at their recent play. They were one team I hadn't heard much of lately. I had only heard of the two teams that did fire their coaches as being the two teams on the verge of doing so, and hadn't heard anything from elsewhere.
LabattBlue Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 After all these years, I still DESPISE Hunter and all the other Nordiques including their HC Michel Bergeron, the Stastny trio, Randy Moller, etc..., and that stupid trumpet guy that used to show up in the arena.
Sabres Fan in NS Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 After all these years, I still DESPISE Hunter and all the other Nordiques including their HC Michel Bergeron, the Stastny trio, Randy Moller, etc..., and that stupid trumpet guy that used to show up in the arena.   Is that because he was on the other team? Be honest ... would you not have loved him to be a Sabre ... I know I would have.
LabattBlue Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Is that because he was on the other team? Be honest ... would you not have loved him to be a Sabre ... I know I would have. Of course it was because he was on the other team. I hated him so much, I never wanted to see him in a Sabre uniform.
Weave Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Michele Petit is right up there with Dale Hunter in my Big Book of Hate.
Cereal Posted November 28, 2011 Author Report Posted November 28, 2011 Who else is seriously on the block, or close to being fired? Islanders coach? Sens? Colorado? Well, Scott Burnside at ESPN names Randy Carlyle in Anaheim, Brent Sutter in Calgary, and Joe Sacco in Colorado. http://espn.go.com/videohub/video/clip?id=7288702&categoryid=2459791 I would imagine that Sutter would have the hottest seat of those three these days. Although, Anaheim has been very disappointing so far this season.
wjag Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Add two more coaches to Lindy's longevity belt.
FogBat Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Add two more coaches to Lindy's longevity belt. That just kills me. Lindy could live to be 100 and still be the Sabres head coach while we see about 700 different head coaching changes elsewhere. EDIT: ...and yet face the possibility that the Sabres STILL won't win the Cup.
