ozone Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I bought tickets for the Jersey game tomorrow but damn I should have gone for the Bruins (and still might). This is going to be a VERY exciting game. When was the last time Sabres Nation was so geeked for a regular season game this early? After the poor showing and contoversey from last week's game, this matchup is going to be intense. Retribution for Miller, lack of effort, heart being questioned, playing the champs--plenty of storylines. This game is going to be violent, exciting, and awesome. Can't wait.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 don't hold your breath
korab rules Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 don't hold your breath  My thoughts exactly.
CallawaySabres Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Of course I bought 2 out of the 3 Bruins games and and this was the one missing. I don't think there will be quite the amount of payback as some may think but the atmosphere will be solid regardless....
wonderbread Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Prepare to be dissapointed. These types of games typically never live up to the payback crews hype.
2ForTripping Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 The barn will be loud but the room will probably be as quite as a rat pi$$ing on cotton. Who'll rally the boys?
Drunkard Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 If the roster stays the way it is now, I don't see any sort of payback coming towards Lucic or Boston. If we bring up some tough guys from Rochester I'll be much more excited.

Whether they bring up some of the tougher boys from the A or leave the roster stand pat the Stripes are going to have this game locked down tight.
wnyguy Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Remember. this is the Sabres you're talking about. I doubt they even look cross-eyed at the Bruins.
Drunkard Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Whether they bring up some of the tougher boys from the A or leave the roster stand pat the Stripes are going to have this game locked down tight. You never know, Gaustad may hit Lucic with his purse.

And shanny, as per usual, will be scrutinizing every play to see of any sabres are deserving of supplemental discipline. Did shanny ask Kaleta if he intended to headbutt that guy? No? Intent could be inferred there but not for lucic? Hmmm. Odd.
itbeatswalking Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 My thoughts exactly. Same here, I hope not, but Boston will probably run them
nbash Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Roy and Gerbe will pummel Lucic's kneecaps!!!
ozone Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 I will be honest. The Lucic hit didn't seem that intentional to me. He didn't go out of his way to stop either but what the hell was Miller doing out there? It almost seemed like Miller was asking for trouble. That being said, I would just like the Sabres to be physical and take it to the Bruins. Finish checks, establish a forecheck, etc. I'm not that in favor of gooning it up--I think for the most part that's for tradition and fan entertainment; and not so much for being physical. But there will probably be some gooning too.

I'm not saying YOU are retarded, as that would be a personal attack, and beyond the limits of board etiquette. But this idea you have floated IS retarded. It is also so diametrically opposed to what everyone who doesn't have a personal connection with the Boston Bruin organization thinks of the situation that I just don't know what to say. You may want to go back and take another (was there a first?) look at that play.
nfreeman Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I'd expect the Sabres to show up physically and for there to be a fight or 2, but no bloodbath and no major retribution to Lucic. The guy is built like a refrigerator and frankly there isn't much that can be done to him short of hockey-stick dentistry, which I doubt will occur.

Miller finished playing the puck before Lucic got to him and Lucic did very little to lessen the impact.

Well, that's the good thing about forums--we are all entitled to our opinions. Miller came way out the crease to make a play and I think it was ill-advised. It's like Michael Vick scrambling when a huge linebacker is coming at you. Sure it may be legal, but it isn't always the smartest thing to do, especially when a 225lb tank is headed in your direction. Like I said, Lucic didn't make an attempt to stop and when his shoulder hit Miller, there was a mammoth collision. I can't judge his intent, maybe he did throw his shoulder into him a bit but the goalie should realize he has to protect himself. The goalie's value to a team is like a quarterback--you can't take dumb chances even if the rules are in your favor. But since the collision happened, I'm hoping the Sabres exact some form of retribution with their physicality next week. I guess most of the Aud Club doesn't have faith in the team to that. You guys may be right.

mamahides thecookies Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 The sad thing about all of this is the Sabres will come out and try to score fast, then try and get paybacks. What happens if they try and get scored on and then get beat down? As of right now I can say I feel the Sabres are extremely soft and the bruins know this and will take advantage of this and really check the Sabres into not wanting to go into the boards. If Lindy brings in some muscle from the AHL what is he saying about his roster. Tough situation and it should be treated as a game 7 of a playoff. Who has it and who doesn't. I can see Kaleta going out and getting thumped by Thorton and McCormick getting beat down by Horton. It showed that night they all know the Bruins play a big hitting style game and they wanted nothing to do with it because it is what it is. What needs to happen is Lindy needs to see who buckles under the light and who stands. A shake up is needed to send a message that the Sabres are for real and not soft. Bt this will not happen and everyone knows this. The excuse will be they were being watched so they didn't want to get suspended. I can see that coming a mile away. No big show because only one fight will happen and then it will be over with. I am a Sabre fan but a very ticked off fan at that who lost faith in the Sabres showing some guts to mix it up. They never showed and I hope they prove me wrong, but they won't.

Guest Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 What's the over/under on how many times Enroth gets run??? The Bruins know nothing will happen either by the Sabres OR that DB Shanahan. I would expect someone like Thornton or that little turd Marchand to take a run at the goalie in this game though. Lucic will just focus on scaring the bajesus out of the other ballerinas out there.
