Calvin Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 Maybe this was mentioned in one of the recent broadcasts... Had any Sabre ever donned #78 before Tropp? Does anyone have any source of the Sabres' jersey number history? I remember a couple years ago when one of the Habs (maybe a Kostitsyn?) donned #84, it was the last number 1 through 99 to finally be worn for a Canadien. This kind of stuff is interesting, I'd like to see some Sabres history on it. Tropp is one of just four NHL players to wear the number 78. The other three players were Pavol Demitra for the Ottawa Senators (1993-96), Eric Landry for the Montreal Canadiens (2000-02), and Marc-Antoine Pouliot for the Edmonton Oilers (2006-08).
spndnchz Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 Anyone else hear DR on GR today regarding Tropp? He was asked something like "So tonight is Kaleta's last suspended game I assume you'll be sending Tropp down". DR response "Well I have a few ideas I need to talk to Lindy about". The only guys waiver exempt are Adam and Ennis. Ellis would be my pick. but moving him would put Boyes on the fourth line with Cody and Tropp or leave it as is with Boyes-Goose-Gerbe and make the fourth line Kaleta-Cody Tropp? Although Kaleta and Tropp are both RW.

North Buffalo Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 Give Tropp games he needs to mature, stronger body, and he appears to be a better shooter than I expected. I like Ellis on the experience side, but if this team is to grow the younger guys needs to keep coming up and getting experience. Long term Ellis is probably the answer, but I might use that spot as rotating one with the younger guys. Try Kassian for 10 games etc and Verone.

Besides Kaleta will probably get hurt again and soon Ennis will be back anyway.
darksabre Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 I'm changing my vote to Ellis and Tropp.
Andrew Amerk Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 Ruff announced post game that Tropp being sent back down. Booooooooo
beerme1 Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 Long term Ellis is probably the answer, For Portland or Rochester yes?
mudberry Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 For the short term it would be nice to see Tropp get some NHL experience, but if it's for an extended period of time I wouldn't want to rush his development or see him not get the ice time he would see in Rochester.
