me? I have been behaving, I just think myers is not playing as good as he should or could be. Myers is my favorite Sabre, but he has been barely ok so far and he is supposed to be a future norris candidate so I would like to see him play better.

I thought Boyes had a good game, at least from my vantage point. He planted at least one really solid check in their own zone, if not a few.

I could also see the frustration on Leino's face - he may have Vanek Syndrome right now and could probably stand a heart to heart with a sport psychologist.

If they re-aligned the league and put us in a division with Columbus, I think I would be very happy. For a team we only see twice a year, they always seem to be pretty good games, with a lot of animosity between them, and some fights and good competition between them.

I have nothing bad to say about anyone. Columbus is better than their record and we'll figure out Tampa when it counts.

Thanks guys. Is it that tough to answer a simple question for a fellow SS member? Not like you're all at your computers. Guess I need more posts to have any kind of relevance around here.

Game thoughts...

- Vanek and Pominville continue to be on FIRE!

- Myers still struggling. Is just lost right now in terms of giveaways. That being said, he was credited with 6 blocked shots!

- Stafford-Roy-Leino...absolutely nothing except for two good chances by Stafford.

- Gerbe with another good game...except he should have shot the puck into the empty net instead of getting cute with a pass.

- Regehr plays defense the way it was meant to be played. He is always looking to play the man in front of the net...and I don't mean just standing next to him.

- Enroth is a throwback to the acrobatic goalies of decades ago.

- GREAT job on the PK.

GO SABRES!!!

I'm looking forward to Adam maturing. He is a big boy, and stands out on the ice. He can keep up with his line mates, but needs to hit more, and needs to keep his eyes open for the shot, rather than the pass. Tonight he had a good shot just waiting to be taken, but instead chose to pass, which lead to a turnover.

Any win snapping a two-game losing streak has to be satisfying, but that certainly wasn’t a work of art. My thoughts:

• Good for Brad Boyes. He is neither physical, nor highly skilled, but he is an honest hockey player. I’m glad to see him on the scoreboard again.

• It was also nice to see the power play get on track. I really expected it to be a weapon this year. Tonight, finally, it was.

• That said, it was the penalty kill that won us the game. Columbus may have wracked up the shots, but Enroth saw most of them. We forced the play and kept the lanes clear, and have been doing that very well all year. For all the times he plays the puck like he has a hole in his stick, Myers’ range on the PK is amazing. He and Regehr may wind up being the most effective backline PK tandem in the league.

• When I PVR games I like to post before reading the thread. But I’m sure there are a few comments above that match what I thought of Leino tonight. As for our other $4 million summer forward signing, that was the fourth or fifth game in a row where Drew Stafford failed to make an impact.

• Bluntly, Cody Bass looked like a tool out there. He should watch Cody McCormick tapes to see how a real Cody would conduct himself in that role.

• Vanek was less noticeable than usual tonight and he still collected three points. He and Poms continue to produce like the go-to guys we've always wanted them to be.

• Granny will probably take deserved criticism on the Prospal goal, but it shouldn’t be forgotten how that chance was launched when Ehrhoff made an ill-advised pass on the preceding rush, then went off for a change instead of racing back to help his partner on the counter.

• Nice change-up, however, by number 10 on the Patrick Kaleta goal. That’s the heads-up point play we were expecting.

• Kaleta was the best skater on the ice for Buffalo. And I said that before he potted the winner. He was physical, relentless, hard-to-play-against and — most importantly — smart. He’s been excellent on the kill. A few posters have suggested he’s not long for the team, or even the league, given his style. That was a different player. Nine games is not a season, but it seems he has really tweaked his game, and with excellent results.

• Enroth? Well, let me say it sure is nice to have a backup that doesn’t put you on the edge of your seat.

Went to the game, had a great time. The crowd seemed lethargic. I felt like i was the only one cheering most of the time. Great fun though.

I went as well and wow, was that place dead again. I wonder how we can change this because there has been zero energy at home. Maybe it will take an OT win against Totonto to wake up the building....

Missed Adam in my recap, but I agree with most this. I don't like what he does in our end of the rink, but he shows a ton of potential below the dots in the offensive end.

His problems are a rookie decision-making thing. I've seen him shoot when he should have passed too.

I think he still has uncertainty in his game that only experience will cure. And I think he will have some tough times during the course of the year.

But I like his want-it and I think he has the right stuff for a 10-year career as a top-six forward.

Game notes:

Enroth was good, but didn't face many difficult shots. Colombus flipped most of their shots on him with no one in front. Mostly I think to play a half court game. Or just to throw a lot of shots at the backup. Most were easy saves

Myers passes out of the zone were bad. Three straight right to prospel or Nash. Tunnel of Death with the Tunnel Vision. He'll come around.

Ellis played a nice game getting the puck deep.

Vanek and Pominville are a pleasure to watch together - they are playing beautiful hockey.

I never, ever worry when that guy is on the ice.

He has next to no skill, but he rarely makes a bad decision and never stops battling.

I don't recall them on a line together consistently in the past, although I'm not very confident in my own memory. Seems like they have "it" together and I wonder why it hasn't come out in the past. They could make Andrew Peters look seasoned they way they're playing together these days.

Absolutely, he looked really good out there today. Kaleta definitely has his head in the right place overall. The whole ice-level thing was something else; I got to pay attention to al lot of little details, like what are they doing behind the play, what do their faces look like as they're skating around, how they line up for a check.

With regards to the latter, sometimes they're like guided missiles out there. I caught Kaleta changing direction and accelerating like a UFO toward a check, and I think it was Regehr who pivoted, then speed up ass-first at a Blue Jacket, slamming him into the boards. Which is interesting, to me, at least, because they ARE hitting people out there, and they ARE targeting people. I guess it's difficult to be really certain what the intent is behind the action on TV.

I babble. Anyway, yeah, Kaleta may surprise people with how long he lasts in the NHL. So long as the other NHL players don't take him out too soon.

I was in row 2 of section 104 and boy do we need to get rid of leino. During the tv timeouts, Roy, staff, and Myers are talking about the game. Leino is over in the corner with his head down like a bum and not communicating with his teammates. Oh and on that same shift he forced a pass over to ehrhoff for Columbus to get on the scoreboard. Nuff said.

Why not give him a little time to acclimatise to a new team and new system. I somehow suspect I'm wasting my time saying that though... :wallbash:

I would get to see 3 games a year here in Ohio. So yes, this would clearly be the best choice for the Sabres, the Jackets, and the league.

Your favorite players are 2 defensemen and a center? where's the love for our plethora of wingers? ;)

lol, and double lol about Gerbe...

I actually have a signed jersey with Vanek and Pommers on it... guess they would be my two favorite wingers... again lol, the subtlety is nice.
