shrader Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I really hate missing these games. Anyway, this is just about what I expected. The most common post seems to be the praise of the Vanek-Pominville combo. Anyone who gets on the ice with them finds a way to produce. Can we start quadruple shifting these guys? I don't know why this combo never took off in the past, but in a what have you done for me lately point of view, I don't really care.

Let's see what Adam brings away from these two and if it jumpstarts Leino's game too. Of course, I'm crazy enough to also want to see Weber in the lineup so.
inkman Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 i am feeling 5-2, with the summertime line (42-28-36) generating 5 points amongst themselves. I was leaning toward the Christina Hendricks line Pic or maybe the Kat Dennings line Pic
Iron Crotch Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I know this is sacrilege, but IMHO the crowds here in Nashville are consistently louder than in Buffalo. One of the traditions down here that I really like is at least once a game (usually in the 3rd period) the scoreboard flashes "7th man" and the entire crowd stands, claps, and cheers through a whole TV timeout - usually lasts about 3 minutes or so. It gets the players fired up and seems to break the fans out of their funk if they are being quiet. Maybe it is gimmicky, but something like this might work in Buffalo to liven up the crowd a bit (?). TV timeout:
LGR4GM Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Gerbe has been the sabres most underrated forward so far this season. In the last two games he scored a big goal against Tampa to bring us at least within a lucky bounce of tying and last night he flung the pass over to Kaleta for the go ahead goal... idk how or why but Gerbe seems to have that otherworldly power of coming up big. He has that elusive "hockey magic" that has been void in buffalo since Drury packed his bags for the Rags. Kaleta is going from pest to beast... he does have some good scoring ability and I think he is a smart hockey player. He is still flattening players like it is his job too which is great but he can also play on the PK and effectively neutralize other players. I am excited he has improved and hope he continues to improve because his grit is needed.
qwksndmonster Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I own 1 buffalo sabres jersey with a players name on it... A LArge Number 57 home jersey for Mr. Tyler Myers that I got on slug appreciation... Myers is awesome but hes been playing MEH! so yea Weber is my favorite sabre followed by Weber and Weber Fixed. I was in row 2 of section 104 and boy do we need to get rid of leino. During the tv timeouts, Roy, staff, and Myers are talking about the game. Leino is over in the corner with his head down like a bum and not communicating with his teammates. Oh and on that same shift he forced a pass over to ehrhoff for Columbus to get on the scoreboard. Nuff said. I think I know your problem. You need to become a Leafs fan. 4. If loving Regehr is wrong, I don't wanna be right. Amen. I'd find a way to get Leino centering this line. Let's see what Adam brings away from these two and if it jumpstarts Leino's game too. Of course, I'm crazy enough to also want to see Weber in the lineup so. I don't really want to see the breaking up of our most productive line. If the top line starts struggling, then sure, break it up.

I don't really want to see the breaking up of our most productive line. If the top line starts struggling, then sure, break it up. seriously there is no need to instigate with our resident Liger. He's been really good about his posts, and he's definitely not a crusader... and I wouldn't mind at least seeing Leino with the two of them on the PP. Although Boyes didn't look too shabby there last night
FolignosJock Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 snowmobiler97 i think the others are right it might be ur calling to become a leafs fan or maybe the panthers you would fit in well with either fan base... :wallbash:
ThePebble19 Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Random thought from the game last night... Is it just me, or does Luke Adam seem to get tossed from at least half of his faceoffs?
LGR4GM Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Random thought from the game last night... Is it just me, or does Luke Adam seem to get tossed from at least half of his faceoffs? the good news is that pommers is practicing faceoffs with goose and so its not that big of a problem... http://wgr550.com/Sabres-Pominville-likes-face-offs/11304618 seriously there is no need to instigate with our resident Liger. He's been really good about his posts, and he's definitely not a crusader... and I wouldn't mind at least seeing Leino with the two of them on the PP. Although Boyes didn't look too shabby there last night  As far as weber goes I like any player who is saying things like "And when I get my chance, I'll do the same thing I did last year. Of course there's frustration building," Weber said. "I want to play. Sitting out is not easy. It's a tough situation when you have the caliber of defense that we have. There's seven of us, and every one of us is a top-six or top-four guy." He is determined once he hits the ice to be impossible to remove so, no worries on this front... not to mention he thinks he is a top 4 player, I like his swagger. Also I had an idea... Weber is solid and Ruff knows it so if you read into Ruff's comments "There's some things that I'm still trying to make up my mind on, the importance of certain individuals and whether we should rotate a couple of individuals." maybe he is trying to figure out some of his other defenders strengths and weaknesses (MAG/Sekera) because he knows what Weber will bring.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah, I was really bothered by someone actually asking me to sit down. My question was mostly tongue in cheek, but there was some sincerity in there. Buffalo is a hockey town. This isn't Phoenix, Dallas, or even Sunrise. We have one of the most loyal fan bases in the NHL. We pack the arena night in, and night out. There is no reason why we can't blow the roof off FNC night in and night out. I also ask all of you.... PLEASE MAKE SOME NOISE. Let's be the 7th man that this team needs. Sorry for my rant, but the passive crowd almost ruined an otherwise nice evening. You are so right. The aidience can be the exrra man for your team, so use this advantage, cry, scream, yell, cheer, drum, clap and make some serious noise for your team. This motivates and improves also the event for yourself as spectator. In Germany this role is mostly perfectly played by the hardcore fans in the areas for which you only can buy tickets to stand and watch the game ( sorry i hope it is understandable nevertheless). There are so many people on a small area with drums and trumpets which a singing and cheering the whole game. This is awesome, especially if you are one of this crowd. Just try it, buy tickets with other hardcore fans in one block and start the party. Lets go Buffalo!!!

I have a similar mancrush on Weber, and I'm really hoping we'll see him on the ice soon. So you see, I'm really on Liger's side
FolignosJock Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I hope Weber comes out like a man on fire when he gets the chance just hitting everything that moves.. I really wanna see just a nasty mean streak from one of our guys. If someone touches miller after the whistle I want gloves off immediatly. What I really want is some half crazy french canadian who has been logging with his dad since he was 12 and playing hockey any other time that he wasnt being a lumberjack. A huge bully who fights when someone looks at him wrong :( but that is just wishful thinking.

Samson's Flow Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I'm going Saturday with my cousin, and believe me, we'll be loud. We'll be in section 112. Me too! Sec 103 row 3... me and the lady friend.
dEnnis the Menace Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Me too! Sec 103 row 3... me and the lady friend. Nice. I think we're in row 8 or 10...not sure which he said. I brought an ex to a game once...once...and it's part of the reason she's an ex. Hope your lady friend is more interested in the game instead of some guy with the super tight 1 size too small slug sabres shirt...anyways...I digress...penned up anger

When she can't watch the games I have to send her updates if anything happens. When the game is on, there is nothing else going on in the house. Predictably her favorite Sabre is Gerbe, but she knows all the players and makes fun of her girlfriends for having a crush on Stafford. :clapping:

LabattBlue Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I could swear that I posted this earlier this morning, but don't see it now... I can't complain too much about those who choose to sit on their hands, and not stand up during the games. A good portion of those people have probably been season ticket holders for a long time, and have helped keep this franchise stable over the last 40 years. If they don't want to cheer, it's their choice. It is the make-up of the crowd that dictates how loud it is, and that is not going to change anytime soon. Typically most of the noise is coming from the 300's. Why it is boisterous there some nights and not others is mainly dependent on the opponent, day of the week, and time of the year(October vs. April). To be honest, I'd rather have it be quiet, than listening to the drunk obnoxious ###### a few rows behind me Tuesday night, who insisted on referring to the Sabres as girls or ladies every 2 minutes for the entire game.

You make a fair point, and I remember having this discussion last year. The season ticket crowd is probably a little more subdued than your one-game-a-month types (like myself). I plan on cheering when I feel appropriate (goals, fights, hits etc.), but i'm not going to shove it in the face of those who want to enjoy the game at a more subdued level. Everyone paid to see the game, so be courteous.

This statement can't be made until it happens in the playoffs, and certainly can't be supported by a garbage-time goal in October that came a day late and a dollar short, since two minutes earlier had shot wide on a chance to tie the game.
Derrico Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 I missed this post entirely. Good post, although Gerbe isn't underrated on this board, so that's good. You took the words out of my mouth. I was just about to post about how he's been good but I think he's recieved the warranted attention on this board.
