inkman Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 GOALS OF STUPID SKATE BOUNCES. Ehrhoff needs to have better puck awareness,
inkman Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Red Wings get pounded 7-1 y Caps and then 4-1 by Columbus tonight. Settle people, setttttttle down. This team will look COMPLETELY different by January. Maybe doesn't mean I'm gonna enjoy the crap they are throwing on the ice right now.
Warriorspikes51 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Maybe doesn't mean I'm gonna enjoy the crap they are throwing on the ice right now. crap???? We gave a nice effort out there. Try watching the games.
Snowmobiler97 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Don't do it here... Am I bothering you? If so I'm not sure what I did to you
SabresFan526 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 There were some really bad defensive plays tonight. Noticeably, I thought Luke Adam poorly played the Lecavalier goal and was out of position. He was looking for the puck and not playing the man being the forward down low as the centerman. Lecavalier is his guy. Ehrhoff has a tendency to be in poor position as well in the defensive zone. I think we kind of knew this coming in based on what we had heard about Ehrhoff when he played with other teams, but his offense does make up for it to a great extent. The other thing we can say is that Garon had an amazing game because Vanek alone could have had a hat trick tonight. In addition to his goal, he had some really great scoring opportunities in which Garon made the amazing save. Pominville had the open net in the third with that scrum in front of the net. So many missed opportunities that I think the Sabres just didn't put away tonight. The chances were there, they just didn't put them away which means they played well and got the opportunities, but just need to finish. Also, give credit to Garon because he played a great game tonight. Oh well, need to move on to Thursday.
inkman Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 crap???? We gave a nice effort out there. Try watching the games. Awww, they twied reawwy reawwy hard. Next time I'll have my gold stars ready to put on their homework. Forgive me for wanting more than a good effort from this "elite" team.
qwksndmonster Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Am I bothering you? If so I'm not sure what I did to you I'm pretty sure it's just general distaste for your posts.
kishoph Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 He was out on the last shift I think? You're right VANEK was out there for the last 36 seconds, but he only had one other 35 second shift since the 15:00 minute mark. I would hope this wasn't strategy by LINDY, sitting out your top scorer while trailing by one in the last 5 minutes of a game. http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20112012/TH020113.HTM

Forgive me for wanting more than a good effort from this "elite" team. I don't think you can dispute that the Sabres played a better game than the Lightning. A bit of bad luck and some missed opportunities in the offensive zone cost us this one. I hate losing like this too, but games like this happen. I'm just glad it's happening in October (and hopefully not later down the road).
Eleven Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 What I saw at the F'n Center: 1. Chz, my apologies, but I did NOT get a magnet schedule. Ran into a friend I hadn't seen in years immediately inside the turnstiles, and simply forgot. 2. Vanek was an animal out there. He may have been slightly injured when about half of the TB team landed on him in the early third, in front of the net. 3. For the first 45-50 minutes, Stafford was floating. Not reaching out for pucks, not doing anything to help himself or the team, as we used to see. Pucks glided within three feet of him, but he'd be damned before he'd reach for one or skate to get it. 4. I didn't know until hearing the radio on the way home that TB's third goal was off of Ehrhoff (I knew the second one was). Until I heard that--and I'm still not sure--I thought Miller had played a pretty weak game. 5. Some people might be pissed that Vanek didn't get a penalty shot. A few of us in our row were surprised that it was a penalty at all. Then again, the phantom call on McCormick more than made up for it. It was a good effort from most of the team. They simply didn't get this one. It was really good to be back in the Arena for a regular season game. Oh, and they really need to fix the pre-game intro. That Goo Goo Dolls stuff from a couple of years ago is tuffer (nod to S.E. Hinton for that) than this. Just play Street Fighting Man if it's not going to be Sabredance.

LabattBlue Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Game thoughts(bear with me as my frustration level is 10x higher when I actually attend a game versus watching it on TV). Keep in mind these are game thoughts. Not thoughts about the first 8 games, not thoughts about the season...Just this one game. - My teenage daughter summed it up best with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd period..."I'm bored". The first 8-10 minutes of the game...great, the last 8-10 minutes of the game...at least it was exciting. The 40+ minutes in between...the NHL should be embarrassed at the style of play being displayed by some of its teams. - Tampa with 3 NHL superstars playing a neutral zone trap/left wing lock/1-3-1/whatever the heck you call it...what a waste of talent. - Luke Adam got an excellent look at the man he was supposed to be covering on Vinnie's goal. The only problem is that he is not supposed to be admiring him. - Miller....when you go down in the butterfly, low shots should NOT beat you. - Myers...Norris Trophy material? He isn't even within a thousand miles of being an NHL all-star. - Is it just me or do nearly all of Ehrhoff's shots either get blocked or go wide? - That was the worst 40+ shot offensive performance I've seen in a long time. - You would thing that Regehr's big hit in the 1st minute of the 2nd period would have inspired the team...NOT. - Two home losses to start the season...Good job of offsetting some hard earned points accumulated on the road. - The Sabres should have blown them out by 5 or 6 goals after the quick 2-0 lead. - To the so called fans who started leaving with 7-8 minutes to go, followed by just about everyone else after Tampa made it 4-2, I was really hoping the Sabres could have found a way to win, and stick it up your ass for leaving early. - To the two twenty something morons who sit within earshot of me who decide to mock everyone around them who decide to cheer or be vocal...grow the ###### up! Why the hell are you at the games?

But I'll admit that I exited as soon as the light went on behind Miller for the fourth time. Shame on me, if you want. As for the 20-something morons: aren't they supposed to be the energy of the crowd at that age? Shame on them, definitely.
SabresFan526 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 - Is it just me or do nearly all of Ehrhoff's shots either get blocked or go wide? I find this to be the case with Myers. Anytime he shoots the puck it gets blocked. And then, he has a standard move where he fakes a shot, moves around the player who would have blocked the shot only to shoot it again and get blocked by another player. I find it annoying. With regard to Ehrhoff, I noticed his shots were getting blocked a lot more tonight than usual. His shots generally have been getting through this year and in year's past, but tonight, I did notice the accuracy was off and his shots were getting blocked. This may have something to do with Tampa as that Connolly guy is apparently a beast blocking shots.
bunomatic Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 My frustration level is 10x higher when I have to watch the game on Versus <_< Good post, Labatt. Does Pierre Maguire have a man crush on Garon? Hated hearing him gush about the guy most of the game.Played a good game but come on Pierre.

Shooting into defenders has been a longstanding problem with this team since the loss of JP Dumont and Al Kotalik. It has to be something that can be coached. Other teams like to play our point men very aggressively. Is it a product of our system? I'll admit that one thing I don't know well about hockey is systems. What can our players down low do to take pressure off of the point men?

It would be nice if one could get in front of the opposing goalie during a power play, which didn't freaking happen all night. Gaustad was great at that, if not much else on a PP, and I'd like to see him back there. Vanek is generally good at it too, but just never seemed to get there tonight.

This may be the best reason for the league to get rid of the loser point for OT games. (Which I'm generally in favor of) But I have to wonder....
dudacek Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Never saw that loss coming after the first 10 minutes. • You can say we outplayed them, or that Garon stole it after his team got some lucky bounces. But I didn’t like the way we responded in the second. That was when we needed to step up and take the momentum back. We didn’t. • The power play was again missing in action when we needed it to make a difference. • You’re not going to see me blaming a goalie for a loss very often and I’m not going to blame Miller tonight. However: the second and third goals may have been deflections, but they both went through him; And goal four was on the inevitable chance a team always gets when an opponent is pressing late to tie. A big save in any of those situations may have made a difference. • Derek Roy seemed to have his best jump of the season early. But it wasn’t sustained and his line failed to produce. Again, an opportunistic second line could have made a difference. • This season’s Thomas Vanek is an elite NHL player. • Until the last 10 minutes I barely noticed Tyler Myers. I guess in a way that was good because it meant he had largely avoided going all Ken Breitenbach on us. • I got big Big BIG man-love for Robyn Regehr. I think it’s because he’s such a man out there. When was the last time you saw a hip check like that on a big star on the rush in our barn? • I’ve poked Luke Adam for his lack of focus on the backcheck, so I have to say he was moving his feet much better tonight. He kinda forget about Lecavalier on the opening goal though. I’m just saying. • They talk about the new players getting used to our system. Our system also has to get used to the new players. Ehrhoff has a freaking cannon. The boys need to load it up. • Lindy Ruff is on pace to play Miller 70 games this season. Again. Anyone else think we should have seen Enroth in one of the last three? Is anyone really surprised we didn’t?
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Hey, I hoped the Sabres would have stuck it up my ass, too. They didn't. As for the 20-something morons: aren't they supposed to be the energy of the crowd at that age? Shame on them, definitely. I was able to carry on a conversation at dinner table decible level for 98% of the game....to the point I even watched my language because I didn't want the kid 2 seats down from me hearing my usual, casual vocabulary. I was in the upper 300s too. Not Chet + Muffy territory. I wasn't offered a magnet schedule, but I came in the side near account services. Wake me for the May/June one. I am amazed at how the crowd turns on these guys. Multiple people yelling stuff about Miller towards the ice. Some low level booing. I agree with everything you said (I think you) about the arena. It's like they put some rims on a '96 Honda Accord. Same stuff for the most part. Only Blue Light at the stands near me...had to go hunt down a Molson vendor. Why would you have 1 beer on 14 taps? I think the NHL needs to institute a fighting rule for players with visors. It sickens me to watch.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 -fans were extremely disappointing tonight. Did not hear even one solid "let's go buffalo" chant get going. -Garon was NOT that good. He faced a lot of low quality shots, and was giving up a TON of juicy rebounds all night- but no Sabres were ever there for them. -AWFUL officiating. The NHL should be embarrassed. Three times, icing was called on Sabres, when it was tipped or deflected in the neutral zone. Vanek should have had a penalty shot, which was obvious to everyone except the refs. I also didn't see the phantom goalie interference on Cody. -Sekera was terrible. Sloppy passes/ giveaways all night. - Vanek was a beast. Could have had 3 or more goals tonight. Best player tonight. Regehr was solid. Kaleta played great too. -TB plays a REAL boring game. They waited for the bounces (goal off Ehrhoffs skate, breakaway at end) and they got them. Adam really blew his coverage on Lecavalier. What did he get, 3 shots? And TB had 19 all game? Enroth should have played tonight. Ellis was good. Leino, Roy, Pommer, Myers were practically invisible. Boyes stepped it up a little tonight.
OverPowerYou Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Was anyone in the rowdy 300 section where the TampaBay lightning fan Got kicked out? That was the highlight of the game
