It just seemed like a culmination of factors that gave us the L: bad officiating, weird bounces, missed opportunities in the offensive zone. Whether it was totally Millers fault or not (which I don't think it was because he played decently) we got beat by a goaltender who is playing better (currently). Always annoying to lose a game like this at home, but then again it is still October. Agreed, game was so maddening. Screw you Tampa Bay. Southeast teams tend to have quite a bit of luck and help from the referees to keep them competitive.

Derrico Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 To have a glass is half-full attitude, the Sabres have scored at least 3 goals in 7 of their 8 games. That's very good. And even though Miller gave up 1 serious garbage goal, he's still the man. Buffalo will get in a groove. Don't worry fella's. The only player I'll biatch about is Leino. The guy not wanting to play center? Darcy had to view him as a "find", and now the guy doesn't want to play center w/ Ennis out. I am already viewing the guy as a bust. I guess I am being some what pessimistic. Bang on with your analysis. Although it's early, the lack of effort by Leino is very scary. If you blow a coverage or two and are still getting use to the new system fine, but there is no excuse for a lack of effort.

Hey, would you rather be a Montreal fan right now and be last in the league. I thought they were going to be battling for the division and they have fallen apart. Buffalo will be fine and the only thing I am POd at is that Ruff should have played Enroth - it seemed so obvious

Lots of weird stuff tonight. Bad defense, bad bounces, Miller to blame for quite a bit. Just one of those days I guess. Ehrhoff and Leino need to get it going soon. At least Boyes got on the board? Heh.

That's the thing I think the Sabres are going to have to work on going forward, defensive cohesion. There are new parts here that haven't come together yet, and it looks like Ehrhoff has some work to do. I want to like the guy for his offensive potential but he's doing a lot of watching the world go by in his own end. Tampa is a good team with some very gifted offensive players. They got a great game out of Garon tonight and their marquis guys got on the board. This is a playoff matchup we need to be prepared for.
Derrico Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 One positive observation I have is that Gerbe seemed possessed out there. Glad he finally got that goal. Of all the Sabres, I noticed Vanek and Gerbe pretty well every game for their great play.

Good call, that team seems built for the playoffs with their excellent defensive style but also have high end offensive talent. Would not want to run into them.

Play real hockey, my god that's a horrible style.
