LabattBlue Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 I see the talent the team has this year and if I don't see great results, maybe it's Lindy. Maybe he's holding things back. How many coaches get 14 kicks at the can with no championships? Two things(not that I am Lindy's biggest fan)... 1. I'd give Lindy and his staff the whole season to get this team going in the right direction. He has 6 new regulars on the roster(Ehrhoff, Regehr, Leino, Grganani, Adam & Enroth). That is almost a 30% turnover of the roster depending on how many players they are carrying. 2. I'm even more convinced under Pegula(versus OSP & LQ) that Lindy and Darcy aren't getting fired...even if they miss the playoffs.

SwampD Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 t'was inevitable. So, we lose two games to last years EC finalist and it's time to fire Lindy. I'm not sayin' he's wrong, though, just WAY too early to even bring it up.

ROC_exEMT Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Ridiculous. Correct. For those who have latched onto the "complaining" theme: please post a link in which someone from the Sabres (not some yob from bleacher report) says anything that can support this. All that's been published that I've seen is this: Don't make s--- up. So, he mentioned to Lindy that he'd like to go to the wing. NOT "complained." Would you like to be labeled a "complainer" at work simply because you mentioned to your boss that you might add more value at a different assignment? If the facts don't fit your opinion -- change your opinion, or at least make it clear that it's a theory or an opinion, not a fact. Don't BS about the facts. I don't have a link but during Saturday's pre-game Rob Ray interviewed Leino. Leino made some comments when asked about him fitting in with the Sabres and the line he's on and his reply basically was "I don't have choice what line I play on, it's not my decision." He also seemed to stumble to come up with something positive to say when asked what he thought of Brad Boyes. I'm not saying he's a complainer but I did take some of his comments as a little surprising. Maybe I'm reading more into it as I wasn't listening all that closely or maybe it was just his choice of words and how he said it. I'd like to see the interview again if anyone knows how to get a copy and post a link to it.

ROC_exEMT Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 No ... he's Finnish I had no problem understanding him but like I said I didn't listen all that closely. But he did seem to stumble some on what he was trying to say and perhaps it came off the wrong way to me. I'm not trying to label him, it was just something I noticed. I'd like to see the interview from Saturday again.
That Aud Smell Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 and now back to center, apparently. and the effort to get leino and roy going is prompting ruff to tinker with the AVP line. per hoppe's twitter feed, here's the latest. #Sabres No Jochen Hecht again today. Full otherwise. Hecht skated Saturday. 3 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply #Sabres It's Roy w/Adam and Stafford. Not sure who's the center. 17 minutes ago #Sabres It's Leino between Pominville and Vanek. 20 minutes ago #Sabres Leino w/Pominville, Stafford w/Adam ... Not everyone out yet. 21 minutes ago

At least we'll find out how much of the VAP line's success was due to Adam, and whether he can contribute to the success of another line.

Derrico Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Annoying. Why not stick with what was working, and give what wasn't working, some more time to jell? Because we've lost three of the last four (two of which were at home) and we haven't looked right since Europe.
RazielSabre Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Because we've lost three of the last four (two of which were at home) and we haven't looked right since Europe. Isn't that more through effort, hustle rather than anything else?
R_Dudley Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Isn't that more through effort, hustle rather than anything else? My sentiments exactly. Also why take something that was clicking so well (VAP) and make the "developing chemistry" now have to happen across two lines.
Eleven Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Because we've lost three of the last four (two of which were at home) and we haven't looked right since Europe. Oh, I don't like the changes that were made before the last four games, either. I would have stuck with the Europe lineup for a while longer, and when a hole opened (Ennis), I would have just filled that hole rather than juggle everything around.
LastPommerFan Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I'm thinking this means Jochen is not as close to returning as people thought. I'm okay with the changes, but I have maybe too much confidence in Vanenville.
nfreeman Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Well, I wanted to see Leino centering for Vanek last summer, and I like the idea of Leino on the half-wall or the corner finding Pommer in the slot, so I'm fine with this. And Adam-Roy-Stafford sounds interesting. Bottom line is that the Sabres need to get Leino going. Right now he looks like he's totally lost his confidence, so maybe putting him on the top line is Lindy's way of giving him a confidence boost.

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but based on what's been said and what's happened recently, I'm not expecting to see Hecht in the lineup before Thanksgiving (and even that might be optimistic). I hope I'm wrong, both for the team and for Yo-yo.

And if there are two players that seem capable of making anyone who centers them look good, it's Vanek and Pommers. Adam Roy Stafford intrigues me as well. Maybe Adam makes that line better. Worth a shot if it can get us two good lines rolling.

I don't think it really matters who you put up front with them right now, they can make anyone look decent at this point (Heck, even Boyes looked good the past few games... )

LabattBlue Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 While Adam has been okay, I hardly think that he has been the cog that has been responsible for the numbers Vanek and Pominville have put up this year. If it will help get Leino going by putting him with the Sabres two hottest players, I'm all for it.
