thesportsbuff Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Well chances are Hecht will be in the lineup given Ennis' injury.. unless there was an update I haven't heard about, I would anticipate him missing at least a game or two.
neverenough Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=a6dnUBylvC4 Get him in
Bullwinkle Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 After seeing each of the Sabres' games so far, I agree with those who find fault with Leino's game. I'm not just talking about tonight's performance. He has consistently failed to get the puck deep into the opposing zone or out of our own when given the chance. A few posts compared his talent to Connolly's. Without a doubt Connolly has more innate talent, but I'd rather have Leino on my team than Connolly for a myriad of other reasons. I'm hoping Leino straightens out his play as I'm sure Ruff is as frustrated as I am. Adam has a long way to go to be a complete NHL player. It's very obvious that he is a rookie. Poor passing, poor back checking, missed passes...I could go on. Watching him is as frustrating as watching Leino, but at least you can say that Adam is only a rookie and is acting like one. Leino has no such excuse. Ennis has also been frustrating to watch. Zipping around as usual, but doesn't seem to be able to finish (ala Max). Perhaps this injury is a blessing as he can take some time off to refocus. Sophomore jinx seems to be evident, so more hard work is required. Ehrhoff is what? A minus 3? Minus 4? With the team's winning record, that shouldn't happen. He hasn't stepped up to the plate yet either, although I have to say in his defense that the opposing forwards are keeping a close eye on him. Roy is still appears to be fighting off the effects of his injuries (I hope). On the other hand, Miller and Enroth look great. So do Regehr, Pominville, Myers, Gerbe, and Vanek. It was mentioned that TB has let in a lot of goals. Yes, but that was with Roloson in goal (17 goals against in 3 games). It might be a while before he gets a starting role again. TB seems to be recovering from an awful start. Their team played the trap very well and did a good job of shutting us down. Up until now I only considered Philly, Washington, and Pittsburgh to be our equal or better in the Eastern Conference. Now I may have to include TB. We'll wait and see.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Obviously, they lost because of Ennis getting a haircut.
donteatyellowsnow Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Ok well if that's your opinion then you are more than welcome to express it. I still believe that Leino is a more skilled player than TC If you think Leino's skill set trump Tim Connolly's, I don't think you have really seen Connolly play. Connollys puck control and hands are better than Leino, TC slapshot is better than Leino, his defensive and PK game are better than Leino, etc. Injuries have taken a lot of that skill away and he is still more skillful than Leino. That said Leino is the better player and less injury prone at this point and I would rather have VL than TC.

LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Leino has 2pts in 7 games and is a -1, yup hes terrible... when was the last time TC scored in the postseason?
darksabre Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 I didn't see the game and I'm glad to have missed it. I do NOT like the Sabs being shut out, even though I can accept a loss from time to time. Even so, I would hope that there aren't a lot of chicken little posts, as a result of a bad loss, above. I'll have to read through the stuff in the AM. Don't bother.
qwksndmonster Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Sekera is really impressing me this year with his improved defensive play. I don't know why so many people want him in the press box.
X. Benedict Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 The 6 D have been very good. It is up to the forwards to figure out that trap.
LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Since the lockout, no team with the exception I think of Detroit, has won a Stanley cup without a 1st or 2nd overall draft pick on their roster... just throwing that out there for consideration. Eric Staal - Carolina Bobby Ryan - Anaheim Malkin, Corsby, Staal, Fleury - Pittsburgh Toews (3rd), Kane - Chicago Seguin - Boston

dudacek Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Dudacek’s take on game #7 (sorry I’m late, PVR game) • Tough one. Tampa was a better team tonight. Their defence looked sharp, our forwards didn't. The long and winding road trip may have finally caught up to us. Looked like the will was there, but not the legs. • I have to echo board scuttlebutt on Derek Roy. His burst is just not there. And last night he was falling all over the ice. • Andrej Sekera had a shift in the mid-point of the second period where he looked terrible, coughing up the puck twice leading to scoring chances. I think that might have been the first time that has happened all season. Sekera has been very good this year. Couldn’t ask for better from your 5th defenceman. • Gragnani was better tonight. When he doesn’t have to battle, he really looks quite good. Ehhhrhhhoff (just making sure) was the blueliner that I thought wasn’t quite there. • Leino looked like the Philly Leino again playing on the wing with Stafford and Roy. I think we could see Yoyo playing centre. • Miller came up with a pair of big saves after the St. Louis goal and generally looked good. But Enroth needs to start Tuesday. • Adam has to learn to keep his feet moving on the backcheck and in the defensive zone. • Does anyone know why Matt Ellis hasn’t been saving us cap space in the minors? • I was really hyped for our new-look power-play with Adam playing Phil Esposito, and Gragnani and Ehrhoff on the points. It hasn’t looked good the past few games. We're not able to sustain zone time. Ehrhoff needs to be more John Van Boxmeer and less Richie Dunn.
LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 fixed. Thxs, I forgot him. I just find it interesting. On a side note just got back from Wegmans and ran into Nathan Gerbe there, left him alone but i gotta say he so far has played the most consistently.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Hopefully Lindy can get through to the boys and get them working on beating the 1-3-1. I'm also wondering if Miller should be given another shot here. He'll have the time to rest, and i cant really say he played bad last night. Neither goal was his fault.

You obviously have no idea what ur talking about, leino is less injury prone bc he is always benched or not going into the dirty areas where he should be. Tc is sooo much better,
LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 wth is going on in this thread? Are we seriously discussing if TC a guy who hasn't played at all this season and who was so-so last season is as good after spending a decade in Ruff's system as a player who has 7 reg season games under his belt? :wallbash:
